It's usually somewhat silly subject matter, made somehow profound. Your doing some seriously unique, and I think important work here bro. Keep it up.
I honestly have so much reverence for Scott, like low-key he inspired me to learn Japanese as a gateway language for Eastern Language, partly because I loved that infamous Miku commercial from this random seemingly American man, then I really just started to study Japanese, been doing so off and on for a few years now I hope he's doing good
That is a very sweet man. I'm glad Scott's story is out there, especially as an antidote to the narrative that he was just some out-of-touch dope. He is a good dude, a company man and a person full of gratitude for the life he's led. This is just so lovely.
11:55 is exactly why he's the CEO and the writers for AdAge don't have a clue and write crappy articles for AdAge. Also, we should all remember that Domino's made "The Noid." It isn't off brand for them to be very weird.
Scott seemed somewhat annoyed at first, I think it’s possible he thought you were just going to make fun of him for the ads or something, but once you showed genuine interest he really seemed to open up!
I remember that winter storm in TX. I live in Louisiana and the place I work gets all our inventory out of Austin, So for about 2 weeks we were sold out of everything. They really aren't equipped to handle hard freezes. Pipes bursting, Hydro electric plants freezing up, black outs. Supply chain issues because employees cant get to work. I grew up in Michigan so I was used to 5 feet of snow as a kid. But if your city doesn't even own a plow let alone salt/sand in large quantities to put on bridges and underpasses where ice forms you are really SOL.
That nervous atmosphere at the start of the video was palpable. I felt on edge. Glad to see this concluded in the best possible way. I loved this whole story.
Nick, I love the abstract gaming/Japanese culture history your channel offers. I'm always excited for what comes next. You are a man of answers and your perseverance shines through.
I think its so cool how people light up when you are actually interested in something they do and how if you get someone on something they're passionate about its just so fun
I found your channel last night and I really like what you do. I'm in England, wasn't aware of Scott's ad or even Hatsune Miku but I love the compelling approach to presenting these stories. I think this interview will show people that media in other countries appeals to their audience there in different ways. You can't really judge a foreign ad with American expectations and sneer at it like it gets everything wrong. It's about different culture, humour, ways of communicating. Like, how many American ads would take the approach of having a foreign businessman speaking in a different language with English subtitles, occasional burst of broken English, promoting something linked to American pop culture? Because that's what this is for Japan in Japanese and it works there in a way it wouldn't in America.
You and Scott just managed to get this interview done a month before the winter storm that knocked out the Texas power grid. It feels like the cancelled flight was a brief foreshadowing of what was coming.
It has been a great journey. Thank you, Nick, for helping me so many tough times. I feel like this is kind of the finale, and even though it isn't, I wanna say thank you anyway.

I am glad that I was here when it premiered, so many people like me replied "I was here" at the end and I was just thinking of saying it, others ended up doing the same thing, felt great to be connected with others while watching good content from Nick
WE was here
This is just like that Chris Farley SNL sketch where he's interviewing Paul McCartney and he's like "Remember when you were in the beatles?"
LOL
First Brian Matt saying the channel name in his iconic voice.
Now Scott Oelkers saying Nick's name in his iconic voice.
Nick just keeps on winning.
Big thanks to Scott and Marc for being cool about all of this and being on camera. Absolute legends. And shoutout to Nick for finally finding the legend and getting answers years later. It really is awesome to witness.
Never before have I been so hyped to see an internet man interview a former pizza company CEO.
> Dreams about interviewing a man for years
> Spends the entire flight on the way to interview him wondering what he could possibly ask.
Mood.
>uses greentext
are you by any chance a 4chan user?
This is where it all ends. It’s been a great ride fellas. See you on the other side.
I'm really happy for you. I really wish the interview wasn't paywalled. :(
Same, I was looking forward to seeing the full interview.
Oh my god the end of that preview was all incredible
Nick - Goes through a flight almost on a per video basis.
Scott - You dare challenge me mortal?
I love how the trailer says it's PG for Mild Language, Crude Humor And Some Thematic Elements like my boy made a full length Cannes Film Festival docu about Domino's Pizza lol
I only recently found your channel. I'd been binge watching several of your episodes, and I was towards the end of your "Michaelsoft" journey when I realized just how many almost magical moments I'd gotten out of your work. It's usually somewhat silly subject matter, made somehow profound. Your doing some seriously unique, and I think important work here bro. Keep it up.
I honestly have so much reverence for Scott, like low-key he inspired me to learn Japanese as a gateway language for Eastern Language, partly because I loved that infamous Miku commercial from this random seemingly American man, then I really just started to study Japanese, been doing so off and on for a few years now
I hope he's doing good
That is a very sweet man. I'm glad Scott's story is out there, especially as an antidote to the narrative that he was just some out-of-touch dope. He is a good dude, a company man and a person full of gratitude for the life he's led. This is just so lovely.
THIS MAN IS REALLY DOING A CHAPTER 2 HE'S GOING ALL OUT
11:55 is exactly why he's the CEO and the writers for AdAge don't have a clue and write crappy articles for AdAge.
15:33 i like how he says "uncut" but then his voice cuts out
I legitimately LOST it when Nick started reciting the whole commercial word for word
That many flights to Japan, it must be destiny that he ended up being Nick's hero.
just so happened to come back to this two years later to the day
I found your channel last night and I really like what you do.
Didn't know I could get so emotionally invested in an interview.
I watched this interview with a big smile on my face. This really helped start my day. Thanks Scott!
With some quick mental math, Scott’s done 260 trips back and forth.
Nick gonna speedrun going to and from Japan 200 times to beat Scott's record
Seems to be a weird cut at 15:34
You and Scott just managed to get this interview done a month before the winter storm that knocked out the Texas power grid. It feels like the cancelled flight was a brief foreshadowing of what was coming.
16:09
YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME
DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE SACRIFICED!
Me at this point sounding as Osborn
Scott seems like a really cool, confident guy. Just someone's who is truly comfortable in his own skin.
I feel like Scott, Ai-ai, and Brian, and maybe snowy are the 3 or 4 sort of mascots of this channel
It has been a great journey. Thank you, Nick, for helping me so many tough times. I feel like this is kind of the finale, and even though it isn't, I wanna say thank you anyway.
