- The National Capital Region (NCR) is a planning region centred upon the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi in India. It encompasses Delhi and several districts surrounding it from the states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.The NCR and the associated National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) were created in 1985 to plan the development of the region and to evolve harmonized policies for the control of land-uses and development of infrastructure in the region.Prominent cities of NCR include Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Noida.

Now I think every major city after Delhi has now opted for this NCR concept, and that really great. We can see that for Mumbai too, when planned infrastructure is now happening in Navi Mumbai and Thane. They are like NCR of Mumbai.

I live in Delhi but am from Mahendergarh the farthermost district in Haryana belonging to NCR. My family used to run a brick kiln business but had to stop ever since pollution started rising in Delhi and laws were implemented across NCR. Because of tougher laws, we couldn't supply bricks at competitive rates anymore since our neighboring Rajasthan district which is not a part of NCR is free from all these laws. The story is not just that of the brick industry. many industries suffered because they are subjected to laws designed for urban centers while existing in rural areas completely alien to all the benefits that urbanization brought to NCR.

After Delhi NCR, Mumbai MR, Kolkata MR, Chennai MR, Bengaluru MR, Hyderabad MR, Ahemdabad MR, Pune MR, Surat MR, the list went on for the Tier II cities as well if they also become a Success then Tier III will get inspiration and go on to improve to become Tier II and then Metropolitan Region expansion will also help to improve and to prevent direct pressure on the main City and instead focus to improve its surrounding agglomerations. Of course for that Proper R & D , Awareness among people about Pros and Cons of it, Potential Employment opportunities which it brings along with it , Improvement of Domestic Trades to the fullest which can help it to grow at the level to Handle International Trading alongside Required Infrastructures to cater to the needs, Proper and basic amenities etc.

Real problem with our Indian mindset is that many have stayed in sub-standard cities/towns for so long that we immediately get excited with mentions of Urbanisation and Megacity *without actually realising the flaws of such approach to development*
Even NCR Planning Committee has recognised this and has recommended creation of new satellite cities to relieve pressure from Delhi instead of continuing urbanisation & urban sprawl outside of Delhi
_Only thing remains is for some of the backward minded people to remove urbanisation=development mindset_ which is responsible for getting Delhi so over-crowded in the first place!

But in haryana, gurugram was a very fertile land and after development nothing can grow their if we didn't think about it then it is going to hit very bad to our agriculture sector, because in future farmers will be interested in doing jobs like coding, then who will grow fruits/vegetables/ grains for us?

It stems from our mentality that working in service sector is superior to other sectors, which needs to change, UP is doing that very nicely through ODOP where every region is given an unique identity. If things don't change then cultural and diverse identity of NCR region will just babe that of Delhi suburb.

Every indian state should have one megacity like delhincr which will be economic engine.
Cities like lucknow, pune, nagpur, kanpur, patna, raipur, jaipur, indore, bhopal, vizag, bhubaneshwar, cuttack, ranchi should be developed and brought in FDI and industries.
In whole of North India with 60Crore people only delhi has industries where in South/west there r many cities like hyderabad, chennai, bangalore, ahmedabad, mumbai, pune, surat etc.
North India doesn't have any industry except delhincr.

Delhi NCR was a good idea from 1980-2000, but as it stands right now it will create more problems than it solves.
Especially in terms of Heat Island Effect, Pollution, Liveability and general health.
*Better Option is Developing New Satellite Cities Independently 80--200 kms away from Delhi and attracting a lot of population from Delhi nearby states to settle there*

@@grimsobad8545 Only bad air quality happens because of that Rest is attributable to Urban Sprawl. My point was that existing problems will get worse if development is centred around one city.
You can see this in other places too around the world, those problems are not because of stubble burning in nearby villages.

But Unfortunately.. Urban Expansion like Delhi NCR cannot happen in other metros like Bangalore Chennai Mumbai Pune.
Chennai has satellite towns that are getting constructed as we talk, huge areas getting urbanised as we speak.
Bengaluru is literally known for its expansion. We don't build skyscrapers. We just expand horizontally. Also Bengaluru still has lot of land to expand

J&K, Himachal, UK, Haryanvi belt of UP (West UP) , Punjab , Haryana and Rajasthan (North and Central) fall in one Zone. Part of Rajasthan (south ) , Sindh (Pak), Gujarat, Maharashtra fall in one Zone. Entire South (Kerala, TN, Karnataka , Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) is one Zone. Bengal, Orisha and East Bihar is one Zone. West Bihar , East UP & Central UP , Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are part of one zone. North Eastern states are one Zone. Bundelkhand part of UP and MP and some area around are one Zone.

NCR type planning & projects for Mumbai, Bangalore & Chennai would have worked wonders for India. But Urban Planning has been pathetic & neglected.
Bro, according to Ease of Living index all these cities you mentioned performed miles better than Delhi and it's surrounding cities.
What would have worked best for India is to have made good developments in states surrounding Delhi and made more liveable cities so people would not want to move into just one city!

Because these states are responsible for high level of crowding and migration to Delhi since there is no other good comparable place to live in.

Alwar district in rajasthan will be removed from NCR because it effect investment in this district. Most of industry and investment goes in delhi and Haryana which effect Rajasthan district.

I know Maharashtra state govt is doing well in MMR, Pune and nearby area and nagpur and nearby area, but they should now plan Nashik Metropolitan Region, Sangli metropolitan region, Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) metropolitan region and latur metropolitan region. I know there are numerous factories in these areas already but we should make sure that we don't fall behind any state. Healthy competition will lead to innovation and lead Bharat towards garibi mukt and prosperous future.

It’s a flawed concept that our govts are following.. what India needs is a dozen medium sized metro cities to equally distribute economic activity & develop them in a sustainable manner
But both central and state govts are obsessed with building these “mega-metro cities” like NCR, Greater Mumbai and Greater Falana Dhimkana..
The result of all this is simply washing down of cities like Gurgaon every monsoon cuz such dense cities are just not sustainable.
