Carding a Gradient Batt on the Fusion Engine

Suzy Brown (WoolWench) demonstrates making a gradient batt in a cool two-step process that greats a smooth gradient across the width of the batt. This is a great use of the 128tpi Fusion Engine Drum carder, creating a smooth batt using fine fibers (silk, Merino, Alpaca)

Those are beautiful! That would be harder to do on my Baby Brother drum carder. There is much less space.

Do you brush down the fiber to pack the batt and hold more on the carder?

Yes sometimes, but also to help smooth out the fibers around the batt too if I want a smooth batt.
