Okay, two things. 1) I knew about using Snapshot but haven't been using it. This was a good reminder of why I should. 2) I did not know about using the Create a version. Thanks for sharing this. I'll be making it a habit to use these valuable tools.
That is awesome, and I do recommend using snapshots for a majority of your testing, but if you want to export multiple options, create versions otherwise snapshots should give you the best workflow.
Chris: I admit I have never used these and I don't think about them. Your explanation does help in showing the difference, but it is still a little odd. I don't know why On1 hasn't made the snapshots easier to export. That seems to be the glitch that makes them unusable. I'm glad you did this to show these oddities. Hope your last 2 days of the year are fantastic.
Thanks Danny! This is an oversight I assume, but for those of us that sample multiple looks on an image, it would be nice to have an export option. I hope you have a great end of year and start off strong
I can work on adding Zooms to my content in the future, but not everything will work the best for zooming in on. Sorry this was hard for you to see. Were you able to follow along with my mouse clicks for the items I was referring to so you could follow along with your version of ON1?
Thanks for the overview. I currently use snapshots but not versions. I did try versions but they get lost when I update to a new version of ON1. Same for any extras I have added or presets I have made. So I no longer use anything I loose when I update. I would like to see all user generated content and any imported extras not installed by default stored in a seperate folder/directory so they be be pointed to after a new installation to get them back I maybe doing updates incorrectly but currently cant work out how to manage, but then again dont think we should have to think about it either.
Hey Mark thanks for the comment and I agree with you, we shouldn't have to think about the extras and versions when we update to new versions of the software. With that said, I only recall needing to install the extras once when I updated/upgraded. Every upgrade or update since my extras have migrated to the new software with no issues. It sounds like you are doing a clean install when you update, so ON1 erases everything and just gives you the data in the installer. The reason your Snapshots stay in tact is because they are part of the .ON1 file (side car file) that sits next to your image. The versions are a different type of file, and I have no idea how ON1 stores those. I imagine they are stored on the local hard drive or where ever your cache files are saved. So if you do a clean install, ON1 will wipe all of those paths and recreate them which removes your versions from the catalog. Now if you are not doing a clean install when you update/upgrade to the new version of ON1, I would recommend asking the support team for assistance because I am sure that is not the behavior they expect with their software. If it is, at least let them confirm that for you. I hope this helps.
That is a method of getting the images exported, and I would love to see ON1 give us a token that allows us to select our snapshots for exporting. I imagine it could be similar to selecting a page range when printing. That would also mean they would have to update the Snapshots to auto number as you create them, so the token only allows you to select the defined range.

Thanks, didn't know about this before. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Happy New Year to you too! I’m glad I was able to provide some new information for you and hopefully it was helpful.
Great video happy new year
Thank you, Happy New Year to you too!
Chris, thank you for your very helpful videos, but could you please increase the font size? My old eyes struggle to see what is on your screen.

I use snapshots all the time. I don't use versions but instead just switch snapshots and export one by one.
