Do you not remember the mission on Layton where you have to take a Bull Moose with the 44? The penetration difference you're seeing has to do with the hard case ammo just like the 454. IRL the 44 and the 30/30 are exactly the same when exiting exactly the same type of rifle as far as velocity and ft lbs of energy until they get to the 100 yard mark where the 44 looses all its energy. But the 30/30 continues on for another 150 yards. However it drops 14 inches in that distance. And where the game is messing up with the penetration on all these other weapons is that soft point bullets are actually designed for penetration and expansion at the same time right. Then you have the hollow points that are designed for immediate expansion. Then you have these polymer tips that are actually hollow points with a piece of plastic in the tip so they don't get clogged up before they enter. And everyone seems to be getting confused about all of these design types. They need an armorer as an advisor. Because just like this ammo confusion. The 45/70 should be just like this new 44 rifle and accept the Hyperion and Argus scopes. But yet the 7.62 should take Helios just like the Whitlock. It just really needs some TLC. They've done such a Beautiful job on this game it's sad to see these little imperfections that make such a large impact on this game. Sorry for the long message. And thank you for the excellent review!!!😊😊😊😊
After i found out i had the wrong ammo to shoot moose with the .454, it's now my white tail deer gun and the 30-06 is my moose gun. Trying to get the pistol scope and better ammo.
There's only 5 maps with a Class 9 animal, so for every other map all you need is the Kullman .22H and the .44 1894 and you can get everything. I'm going to have so much fun with it on maps like Revontuli and Medvedu. And for only 5.5 weight, hunting is going to be so much more fun with the extra room to carry things. I even have an extra +3 capacity with Pack Mule and still struggle to fit everything I want or need with me, so this will be great. Saving even just 1 or 2 capacity will make such a big difference.
IRL - The '-06 is a helluvalot more cartridge than any large-caliber pistol round. At relatively short range, with hard cast bullets, rounds like the 44RM and 454 Casull can deliver in truly big game, like elk and moose. They still aren't in the same class as the 30-'06, especially at 150 yards, where those big pistol bullets have lost a ton of velocity/energy. EW continues to really underpower many rifle cartridges, in an attempt to make other options more viable.
Honestly I don’t know about others but I feel like I get charged by aggressive animals more than anyone else and the 44 always gets the job done. I wouldn’t use the 44 on maps with lots of class 9 animals like Africa, that’s for the 454.
Comparison between .44 and .30-06 on moose isn't exact, because the distances weren't the same (21m vs. 40m). Distance is key concerning penetration. The most interesting values aren't those you can read ingame, but those you can find hidden in the game code. Energy, damage, velocity, diameter, bullet weight, expansion rate and so on...
Observational bias is influencing your understanding of terminal ballistics. A 240-grain, .429" projectile, when launched at a generous 1,750fps muzzle velocity, is down to 850ft/lbs of energy at 150 yards. The trajectory is plenty flat enough, out to that distance, but the remaining kinetic energy just isn't great. Compare that to a 180gr .308" bullet, fired at 2,700fps from a 30-'06, and it shoots flat enough for twice as much range (300 yards) where it still has over 1,900ft/lbs of energy. The game treats these two cartridges VERY unrealistically, but that doesn't mean you have to.
I mean, regardless to how it feels, that's not how it works. A 44 mag can't even come close to a 3006 in real life. A 44 mag with 240gr Winchester Silvertip has a muzzle velocity of 1760fps at 1651ft/lb of energy, a 3006 with 150gr Winchester Silvertip have a muzzle velocity of 2910fps and 2820 ft/lb. At 150 yards, the 44 has a velocity of 1210fps and 780 ft/lb of energy. The 3006 is 2474fps and 2039 ft/lb of energy, almost 3x as much energy
I would expect the 44 to get a buff with the weapons pack release. That is if they plan on it being the best lever gun given that the 45-70 is pretty good to use on the 4-8 class animals
EW, please fix the double action revolver loading animation. You don't dump the entire cylinder to top off one round. Same for the SAA. Single cartridge reloads are a thing. You don't need to dump all 5/6 rounds to top off.
In real life a rifle length barrel knocks penetration down a bit on 44 mag especially with lighter hp rounds. Love me some 44 mag such a good all around hunting cartridge. I’ve used it extensively in real life & reload for it too.
There is absolutely zero reason the .44 should be stronger than a full size rifle cartridge. But I guess they just need to make it ridiculously OP so they can get people to buy the pack. And don't even get me started on the 45-70. The absolute weakest cartridge in game compared to its real life counter part (followed closely by the .270). It's a peashooter by comparison.

It’s unstoppable once unlocked
If you carry the 243 Cuomo handgun you can shoot everything 2-6 and it only weighs 1lb while using a rifle scope. That's how I ranked up my handgun.

The Moradi is definitely going straight into my Yukon Valley loadout. I’m excited for it!

Love the vids keep up the good work
Can someone please tell me what this blue skin on the 44. is?

Grr at least it's not 75m...hopefully it has the same class range as the 44 pistol...always liked that it was 3-8.
I think the classes a weapon takes down depends on the ammo and not the gun it's self so I'm pretty sure it should, but I could be wrong.
My cousin just got his first diamond a couple weeks ago
I have a semi auto 44 in real life and it hits hard I would say at 150 yards it hits about the same as a 30-06 depending on lead and grain too

They'll just break it further if they buff it. Guns are already so horribly balanced they need to not mess with it.
The 45-70 should be much more effective then .44
