Literally just checked in our hotel in LA drove down from our visit to SF. Had to look this up because I can not believe what I just drove down on. An amazing experience. I was in awe at its terrifyingly beautiful views. I don't think I had the radio on for a while. Just listen to the waves crashing and the wind and the few times me and my girl looked at each other we would bust out smiling.
Loved it.
23DeepDish Are you from California? It's even more mesmerizing if you come from somewhere far from any coast or mountains!
I keep coming back to this video every time I'm missing my coastal home! Thank you again for posting!
And here I am three years later still occasionally watching your video. Was supposed to drive that this summer but yah, not happening now because we’re being good.
really depresses me living in montreal watching this....ive always dreamt to take a drive along that coast, such a beautiful and scenic highway, awesome video :)
+Pascal Sperlazza I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Trust me you don't. It's scary to drive on. There have been cases of people driving off the ledge on a tight turn.
so serene, and so helpful for me. I now know I can do this drive! And I'll think of your beautiful music as I make the trip. Thanks.
Well Kathy, you'll have to wait a while now. Many sections of Big Sur are closed due to bridges being out from California's high rain fall this winter and spring. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for posting this. One day I hope to be able to drive on a scary Road like this. I can't do it now because I see there are some areas with no railings. But I'm going to keep trying little by little until I conquer it
Drove along Big Sur back in 2003 on our honeymoon as part of a three week drive from San Francisco to San Diego. An unforgettable trip and watching this brought back some good memories.
Paul Osborne That's a long drive! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for this. I’ll probably never see this with my own eyes but this will do!
Thank you for posting this. The Big Sur coastline will forever be the home of my heart. Being but a few hours away, I've been many times. I never fail to notice something new. But being a few hours away, the visits to this precious place seem to grow fewer these last few years. I hope someday I'll be lucky enough to live there. Thank you again for posting!
+Rachael Myers I'm glad you enjoyed the vicarious drive, Rachael!
Fascinating video and trip of my once beloved Big Sur .... tragic with the mud slides now and bridge collapsed... this video is certainly a rarity now. Perfect music. Shall become a very favorite video. Thanks for the fore-thought to film this classic !!!!!!
Thanks, Tom. I'm glad you enjoy it! I just heard about the landslide. It looks like we chose to do this drive at a good time! Hopefully it will not take too long to repair the road, but I have a feeling it will.
Tom Finland what camera did you use.? I've been coming to PCH for 4 straight years and next month I want to record like this. having hard time trying to find dash cam with the option NOT TO LOOP RECORD. But just found out about Go Pro. What is a good camera to use for my Seattle to San Diego West coast trip?
GoPro is an option. You'll need a couple of batteries, or more, depending on how long you plan on recording. I used a Nikon D5100, a DSLR, mounted upside down.
This is wonderful. I'll be driving the same route on my visit in just one month!
***** Enjoy the drive! It's much better in person.
American brothers. How happy you should be that you have such excellent roads. Sad and envious greetings from Russia.
Great video!!! Very relaxing!!! So beautiful landscapes! I will drive Big Sur in june 2019...
Thank you so much for this. It's just so serene and peaceful to watch. Big thumbs up!!
I'm playing "Hollywood nights" by Seger whilst viewing your video......and I'm golden!
snorkelingisfun Enjoy!
*_I FEEL SO RELAX_*
Thank you for posting this.I may be going out to the central coast in the fall.Looking forward to this drive and the views.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Have fun on your trip if you decide to go.
What an awesome drive. Nice that the weather cooperated. :)
We were lucky! Normally, this time of the year, the marine inversion layer rolls in late afternoon, and doesn't recede until late morning the next day. The mild winter we are having here has kept it out in the ocean quite a bit, so no fog!
That was a great video. Thanks for making it! After watching it, I told my wife that we're definitely going to go down that route on our way home from San Francisco.
+POOP onYOU Thanks. I would definitely head that way from San Fransisco.
Thank you! I also love the music just perfect.
I'm glad you liked it!
Pozdrav z czech republic.Velice hezkévideo i hudba.Díky.
+Svatopluk Havryš Děkuji!
I was there in April. Such a beautiful place. Thank you for the video!
I went along this route while on vacation during Summer 2013. The views were stunning. It was really foggy though. I'm glad I wasn't able to drive
Matthew DragonBlade I was lucky that there wasn't any fog. Especially in the winter!
***** Yes very lucky. I haven't been to California much, but the coastal areas are usually foggy
Beautiful, amazing and stunning. I always imagined PCH coastal drive would be like this especially during a sunset. 💛🧡
Always been very blessed to be able to live here. :)
Chris Jenkins It's a beautiful coast!
You are very lucky indeed. I hope I too can call it home someday.
Superb video! With a three day weekend coming up I'm planning on driving this stretch of highway starting on Friday. Hopefully I'll be as lucky as you were and spot a few whales.
bigntallxx Nice! Have fun.
I love this ... miss my annual drive on hwy1 😀
Amazing.
Awesome, thanks for posting
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hey idk I’m planning a trip to California from Wyoming.. I got family in Santa Cruz.. was wondering how long would it take to get down to LA on this hwy? Thank you! The video looks awesome! Thumbs up!
Spectacular video!
+GamerFeel Thank you!
Awesome......... my backyard. Love it ;-)
Thanks. Nice backyard!
Great video. thanks
This is wonderful.
***** Thank you!
Incredible video
Probably the most beautiful road on the planet.
zillajratomicray I would say it's pretty darn close, but not quite. It's definitely in the top five!
I could feel the ghost of Lee Mellon.
Beautiful.
Beautiful
I cannot understand the positive reactions. I see only road!!!
Thank you for posting this. I'm about to do this trip myself but not sure how I might record the video. Could I ask what equipments you use to create this?
Very Well Done! What equipment/camera did you use?
I found the Arcade Mode music from Gran Turismo 4 on loop to fit well for some reason.
What an awesome video. Thank you.
And I TOLD you It's Flat!
Pretty cool! Could you help with a doubt? I'll ride a motorcycle between Monterey and Morro Bay. What's better? From South to North or the opposite?
I choice from South to North because It's safer, i think, because we ride in the montain side.
However, From North to South It's easier to access the view points to take a pictures.
I'm doing the travel script and i don't get to decide.
Thanks.
North to south. The water and views are closer and with just a few exceptions there are more pullouts. Plus, as you can see in video here, going southward sets you up to watch the sunset as you drive in the afternoon.
Having said that, I do LOVE driving out of LA and up to Monterey. But that’s about the destination. And the view is just lovely either way.
17:41 amazing whales!
+Michael MacLeod Yeah, that's the only whale activity I have ever seen during my 4 years here in California.
Cool! Well, thanks for sharing with everyone. I love watching this video. I tune in, in the hope of returning one day.
great stuff
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice video. But the the coast road in Big Sur is called Highway 1. That is both is legal name and what locals call it. So if you need directions make sure to call it Highway 1, because nobody will know what you are talking about if you call it PCH. The PCH is in Southern Calif. It legally the PCH is from Dana Point in Orange County to Oxnard in Ventura County, although some locals refer to as PCH farther south and North but not past Santa Barbara. Up in northern Calif. Highway 1 stops and 101 becomes the coast road and that continues in Oregon and Washington States.
+Stewart Pringle Duly noted. I used the term in a more laymen perspective, since most people searching for Big Sur videos are generally thinking of this broader area, and have never been in the region.
where did yo place your camera? inside/outside I am planning to make a song video for a friend and would greatly appreciate tips, i want to use d5100 and keep it simple within limited resources that I have. great video!
Thanks! I used a suction cup mount (Fat Gecko)on the inside of the windshield, with the camera mounted upside down for clearance.
What is the lovely music?
Nice. Please do this again with the camera pointed about 45 degrees to the right.
Thanks! Yes, it definitely could have used some more ocean in the shot.
From Macedonia: Very nice video, put me there
Mitko Jovanov Thanks, Mitko! I am glad you enjoyed it.
Mitko Jovanov Any other similar video uploaded?
great
thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video. I am working on my road trip during this spring break. Could you share your experience with me? I will be greatly appreciated if you could answer could of my confusion. 1. is that possible to drive all that road in one day? i mean from San Francisco to LA. 2, if i only pick part of the road, which part would be the best as you recommend? 3. if this road trip require to stop in the middle, which place you recomend to stay for one night? is Carmel a good idea?
I'm more than happy to share! If you take the PCH from San Francisco to Los Angeles, it will take about 8.5 hours (possibly more depending on the traffic)without any stopping! I would recommend spending at least two days for that trip, or starting out at Monterey Bay or Carmel like you mentioned. This way you can stop along the way and check out the incredible views and parks. The best part is between Carmel and San Luis Obispo, which is where my video was taken. We actually stayed in Monterey Bay and took the PCH on our way back home. There are a few campgrounds between Carmel and San Louis Obispo if you enjoy that. The San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay area is a popular place to stay as well. It's really nice there!
***** Thank you so much for your time and patience for all those suggestion. I am greatly appreciated for that and you are supper awesome. It will definitely help me a lot for my trip planing. I wish you all the best.
Hey :) what did you use to record this? GoPro?
How many gas stations are there on the Pacific Coast Highway?
This is superlative - although I would've appreciated some road noise as opposed to the, thankfully, low-key soundtrack. Perhaps a blend., but at 3X speed . . . ok, I get it. BTW - what're you riding? Thanks for posting.
Thank you! Yes, at 3x speed, road noise would not be congruent with the visuals. A driving video at normal speed, with the sound of a V8 or HD V-twin would be excellent for sure. I'm actually in a Toyota Highlander, and not riding a bike at all.
***** Ahhhh, it looks like a helmet mounted camera on a very tall person with no windshield. . . that explains it. Nice. ~ S ~
and is it good?
yes! dope vid
Thank you!
What was the date n time this were made. September? 6-8 pm ish ?
+dean g. Moxon You can find that in the description without clicking on "SHOW MORE."
Hey I love your footage of pch, I would love to include some of your footage in my video (makeup video) inspired by a song called "pch". I will include a link of your video and channel in the description, thanks!
+WhatWeird KidsWear Yes, you can use clips for you video. Thanks for asking.
I was watching a political interview and a guest said that if you were to drive down this highway you would not be able to be an atheist. I wondered if someone had any footage. I wanted to see it for myself. Thank you.
nice what type of camera did you use?
Thanks! I used a Nikon D5100 with a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens.

cool

Hola me he suscrito a tu canal Si te gusta la cocina sana y fácil sencilla y rápida visitame te sorprenderá Segimos en contacto
Thank you. From the bottom of my gas tank
+dean g. Moxon You're welcome!
***** have you ever thought about diagonalating the videos so that the ocean can be seen in the shot?...cuz lets face it...when driving. Hwy 1 in Cally the Pacific is always in your field of vision off to the side of the road ! That's the magic of the COAST (Concentrate On A Safe Trip ) hwy...
Ever driven Usal rd. in the Lost Coast ?
+dean g. Moxon Have you seen the 360 degree videos on UA-cam? You can pan/tilt the camera view by clicking directional arrows in the corner. It's very similar to Google street view. That would definitely be ideal for a driving video! As for Usal Road, I have never heard of it. All I know of Lost Coast is the brewing company, lol.
Pacific Coast Highway is in Southern California - locals would never call Highway 1 in Big Sur "PCH"...just sayin'.
People call it what they want to
Why do people feel the need to add music ? That music sucks btw.....almost made me want to be deaf
