  • How A Prodigy Never Fulfilled His Potential Because He wanted to Enjoy His life
For many years, the two best players in the world were never in doubt.
But when it came to third place, it was always a debate.
Often,it was a battle between Neymar and Bale.
But once in a while, a third name used to pop up - Eden Hazard. When he was on form, he looked far better than both of these players.
In fact, sometimes I felt that he could challenge Messi and Ronaldo if he pushed himself a little bit more.
Well, that push never came and at 32 years old, Hazard announced his retirement from football. While this didn’t come as a surprise to many in the media, there was an air of disappointment as to how his career panned out. He achieved so much, yet, you can’t shake the feeling that he could have done even better if he really wanted to.

In terms of his career, Eden Hazard will go down as one of those what ifs. He’s one of the best wingers of his generation and in his prime he was incredibly talented you don’t dominate the premier league for as long as he did if you didn’t have ability and that alone took him very far. There’s a feeling that he didn’t really realize his full potential and part of it, I think it’s his fault.

If only Eden Hazard took care of his body and career during his peak then he would have been one of the greatest players of his generation. No doubt he can change the game for Chelsea on his own since he's that good and his final season at Chelsea he was the best player in the Premier League and singlehandedly smashed Arsenal in the Europa League final in 2019. At Madrid, years of poor conditioning and training finally caught up with him and he'll gone down as one of the worst Real Madrid signing ever after suffering multiple injuries and watched Vini Jr and Rodrygo replaced him. Now he's retired and had to wonder had he trained and condition his body he would be far better than Bale and Neymar and hang around with Ronaldo and Messi.

As a chelsea fan I feel like some people just jump to this conclusion that he failed at Madrid cause he "just got lazy". Now I won't deny that he had a very laid back approach to football and life in general, and in a way that made me like him even more, and yes he didn't have the drive of a CR7, however people tend to forget that Real Madrid tried to rush him back twice from a serious ankle injury and even though the extent of his injury problems surprise me, I always had a feeling that after all the times he was kicked and hacked all over the pitch his body was inevitably going to break down. I know Messi gets fouled a lot but he's Messi, no one compares to him. Look at Neymar for instance, he's one of the most fouled footballers of all time and it's no coincidence that he has developed numerous injury problems in the last 5-6 years. Regardless of his struggles at Madrid I will remember the great memories Hazard gave us football fans

And Madrid never rushed him. Madrid never rushes a player unless he's really important to the team Hazard certainly wasn't that important..

Nobody is denying Eden Hazard’s talent, he’s a very good player but beyond his talent, there was always a laid back mentality when it comes to his work ethic and it explains why he fell off his prime so early. When he was at his best when he played for Chelsea, we heard a lot of ex teammates mention how he was their best player, but wasn’t a good trainer and football fans have known this for a while about Eden Hazard. It was obvious that he was more reliant on just his talent rather than putting in the work. It didn’t matter because he was man of the match every game he played in. Because of how good he was at Lille and Chelsea, he got away with it at first, but this is something that you can argue eventually caught up to him at Real Madrid.
Even he admitted it himself that he wasn’t the best in training and had a laid back personality. No matter how good of a player you are, showing up to a club like Real Madrid overweight is unacceptable and it was a sign that he didn’t care because he got his dream move getting paid a lot of money and decided to arrive out of shape. For some reason he was like that at Chelsea every season but at Real Madrid he was always playing catch up and it resulted in so many injuries and he missed a lot of games and barely even played. A lot of people keep saying that the “Thomas Meunier tackle in the PSG game caused all of these recurring injuries” when the reality is that even before that game, Eden Hazard was already under a lot of criticism at Real Madrid because he didn’t start off well he got injured and he wasn’t the same player that he was at Chelsea. It also didn’t help him that after all these years of getting constantly kicked in the premier league it finally took a toll on his body. When you go to a club like Real Madrid, with all the talent you have you’re supposed to go there and elevate yourself to the next level because he joined them at the peak of his career he had his best ever season at Chelsea only for him to win trophies and do nothing at Real Madrid. He shouldn’t have made that move in the first place, he should’ve stayed at Chelsea for a little longer and his unfulfilled potential is down to poor career choices and a lack of work rate and now he’s retired. Eden Hazard is a prime example on how talent alone isn’t sustainable in the long run and it’s just not enough in modern football.
