I completely agree Olimar doesn't get enough credit he's the only character who doesn't have super strength and some sort of super power. Instead he used he's knowledge of biology and mechanics and everything around him to survive and escape the planet that he's trapped on.
I also agree, he’s a family man, so he has a wife, two kids, a pet, and knows how money works unlike his wife’ it’s so amazing how he uses the pikmin on this misterious planet to get his ship parts back and save there kind

Your only source of transportation has been completely destroyed and you're stranded on an uncharted world light years from home, with everything jeopardized, even your air.but this music doesn't capture this terror. In fact, it's almost one of the most joyful themes in the game. But the a sense of hope is what it captures the best, the sense of a new adventure about to unfold, with literally no telling of what to expect
actually it does capture it a bit but more in the background (the melody has some dark undertones) however that looming danger is overshadowed by the feeling of curiousity that this melody generally conveys. the final trial does the same, a hopefull melody (as you almost have all parts collected and are only missing one more) with dark undertones (hinting at "the final trial" awaiting you)
The first music I heard when I gave the Pikmin franchise a first try, couldn't have a better way to be introduced to such a great game that I quickly fell in love with
This song really sets the scene for the marvelous pikmin series. As Olimar wakes up on this distant planet, the music gives the stmosphere of curiosity, the willingness to explore. And when you do, you find the thing (or things) that save your life.
I havn't meet a single person who has played pikmin, let alone heard of it. Yet this is one of my favourite games of all time. It saddens me, but I rejoice when I see the amount of views this video has got.
"My name is Captain Olimar. While traveling through space, my ship was struck by a meteor... I must have blacked out, and I awoke on the surface of a weird planet. With so many parts lost, the skeletal hull of my beloved Dolphin is a painful sight. The engine is gone... I'm stranded. To make matters worse, my atmospheric sensors indicate this planet's environment contains high levels of poisonous oxygen. My life-support systems can function for only 30 days. If I can't repair the Dolphin by then... No! Better not to think about it. I must find the missing ship parts!"
Songs give everyone who listens to them a certain feeling. This one, in particular, gives me a feeling of curiosity and eagerness to explore and learn. That is probably what Olimar would have thought if not for the pressing matter of the jumbled mess he called his spaceship, the S.S. Dolphin.

Pikmin was the highlight of my childhood. I can't believe I was still in primary school when Pikmin 2 came out. Now I've finished college and they've just shown some gameplay of PIkmin 3. As you said, where did the time go? XD None of my friends really had a Gamecube, and hardly any of them had heard of Pikmin, but it was my favourite game of all time. SO HYPED FOR PIKMIN 3, all the changes they've shown so far look brilliant.
That's actually something I thoroughly enjoy too. I personally think out of every Link, WW Link had the most personality since he was incredibly expressive and showed things like depression, fear, or excitement. Usually Link's emotions stick to "brave and surprised".
@@gentlemansquarrel190 actually i found the forest of hopes melody to be calming rather than sad. the area is littered with parts and there are hardly difficult creatures there making the calming music and name very fitting for the area (the melodys in pikmin 1 always perfectly complement the areas in my opinion)

Couldn't agree more. I loved that game for that reason, and am very glad it's getting a remake. I think part of that was the fact that he was a cartoon, so he's naturally going to be more expressive.
My main issue with Pikmin1 was how pikmin would die after combat for no reason. I think it's referred to as the crushing glitch. Besides that, Pikmin 1 is fine in the game-play aspect.
I also was sad Olimar wasn't in Pikmin 3 and thought it wouldn't be the same. I'm actually glad it happened the way it did, because the new characters were great and likable. Plus, it new characters mean new character backstory & development.
WOW, most respectful discussion in the history of UA-cam. But yeah, I agree with the fact that olimar hasn't much of a personality but still, the game makes him awesome. And I really prefer louie over olimar just because of the sound of his whistle :P. With that said, I would have preferred having Olimar as the main character in Pikmin 3, it's like if in TLOZ you played with a different character in every game. Yeah, pikmin was the only thing I could think about when I was a kid, I played it every day... got Olimar left behind on the planet and turned into a pikmin a few times, barely made it out alive a few times... I was ecstatic when I finally got all the ship parts and won. I was almost as crazy about Pikmin 2, but it came out when I was older.... It's a pity they don't still make games that good.
I dusted off the copy of it today, I remember being 6 and hated playing it because i couldnt use the controller very well, but loved the idea and the music, playing two days in, I'm glad to say I love the gameplay too now :)
