looks nice I was thinking of doing just a copper top over concrete top of chimney to keep water from soaking in I have stainless caps on two flues but this whole cap with built in top part and screens looks really nice.
Very nicely done, thanks for creating and sharing! Most fellow don't actually TIG these together, so major kudos! The raised lock-seam looks great as do the round-head rivets.
If it requires a seam and there’s enough money in the job I would say buy .06inch thick copper sheet half-hard. You can still bend half hard copper without cracking it. After you weld the seam you can polish it and hammer as needed on the bottom side while the top is sitting on a flat hard table. Where the weld is will be soft so you’ll have some flexibility there. I’ve bought some of this material from Farmers Copper before, they are out of Texas and have some good info on copper on their website
Thank you man! Definitely going to try and get something close to 14ga. Didn’t know I had to get it half hard farmers copper is selling me hard material I’m sure that would crack? So it has to at least be half -hard right? Thank you again! Great info !
@Adonai-lz5jb Email me at jaden@themoonlightcraftsman.com with drawings in the subject line and I’ll send you a PDF. They’ll be up on a website in a month or so but I don’t want you to wait any longer. Thanks
I instantly liked the video in first second! I am gonna do copper chimney cap as well and was wondering if somebody did it already, it looks awesome! I might go a bit more simple, just flat rooftop under angle or U-tunneled shape upside down, which needs just bending. Also I think there is no need to weld copper and solder it will do the job. Great work man! Greetings from Slovakia.
Nice. The video as well. We can actually watch the process while you’re verbalizing it for us. I never have the patience to wait for some random guy to go on and on talking and talking while I don’t really want to know what and why and where I just want to see the actual how. Good job. I’m from Long Island New York and I specialize in standing seam. Actually anything metal. I try to make hundred year roofs. Not 20 year roofs. @Patrickfrank366
Cool project - looks great. Congratulations on 2000 subscribers! I like your laid back presentation, yet with good quality editing. Thumbs up and thanks for posting, from Pennsylvania, USA.
Thanks Tree Carcass Mangler. My daughter and I went to NYC last August and on our way back we had a cancelled flight and ended up driving back to Kansas. We went through Pennsylvania and caught the Northern tip of West Virginia if I remember right and I did not realize how beautiful that area is!

I misspoke the solidworks maker is $99 a year not a month
Awesome video.
I appreciate that Speedy

Very vice work! It's always good to see the fine level of craftsmanship in what you build.
Thank you sir. Hope you are doing well
I have a 30’ copper countertop I have to make for a bar…kinda nervous to weld the seams ..scared of warping …it’s 30” wide any tips ?

I’m pretty sure fully hard will crack when bent
You want deoxidized copper tig rod.
Nice work. I’m thinking of doing the same. Copper rod?
I used deoxidized copper welding rod here but you could braze or use solder as well
Wow man, always finding cool stuff on UA-cam
👍💪
Can you share the drawings you made with me so that I can make me one as well?
Sure! I’ll try and get a link for you this weekend
@@TheMoonlightCraftsman thank you sir! God bless you 🙏
@Adonai-lz5jb I haven’t forgotten about you. I’m trying to figure out a good way to set up a place for everyone to access plans. Still working on it
