..wow, Neil Jason in pure explosion mode, damn, this whole track is in fast boil..Richie Morales’s drum solo..pure fire, right into the Neil Jason Show..he’s like a kid at Toys R Us for the first..big fun..i saw them at My Father’s Place in NY with Terry Bozzio on drums..that was out of control and I was there..the Original Heavy Metal Bebop..stay safe and stay strong..jazz lives..New York Jan 25, 2023..
OMG I never had enjoyed Randy Brecker so far (and i do have the Heavy Metal Bebop album), but here he's completely brilliant, and I'll need to listen to him more closely.
@@nathanshafer4978 ??? Which tune on "invitation"? None of the solos that Randy plays there hold a candle to this one IMHO as a trumpet player. This one is much more intricate and the wahwah effect works very well here as well. The balance in the recording is also top notch.
Sounds like Neil Jason quoted I think the theme from The Big valley and it sounded like he was maybe doing Oleo changes underneath Randy's solo, then Randy picking up on it on the way out? I listened once all the way through then went to a bigger stereo then finally to the big guns with subwoofer and all this is a great version even without Michaels solo input. I missed Barry's guitar but Neil Jason just killed here, on fire! They all were.
@@andrewkarp5067 Good to know, thank you. I hope he's still heavily involved in the music biz. Otherwise it'd be such an awful waste of supreme talent.
Neil Jason is always my highlight with that band, he's really incredible, what a presence, what energy, and he's a GREAT bass player.
I love this man!
I've never heard of the guy, but I'm going to be checking more out. He is getting after it man!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just analysed the content and concluded that it is, in fact, funky.
Steely Dan IS the gateway drug to harder and more dangerous jazz fusion.
The Dan was the gateway, and Trane was first thing to greet me.
😉
my one -time neighbor, Richie Morales, killing it on drums
Neil Jason!!!
Oh Yeah!!!! Neil Jason!!!!
Groundskeeper Willie!!!!
Neil Jason? Really? Wow. man he killed it. impressed.
This band sounded so superb. Loved his shades btw!
The Breckers are absolutely unique.
Absolutely. And no band ever did more coke (or put it to better use)!! LOL
Legends Rest in peace incredible Mr Michael Brecker🙏🏿

Seek out the Jaco Pastorius album "Invitation" (and "Twins" Vol 1 and 2 if you can find it). Randy plays brilliantly on that as well.

Randy’s chops are insane! Love the filter. Played guitar in an early Neil Jason band. Great guy! Great musician!
Wow ! Jason is beyond beyond! Man o man! This tune is a super nova!
Don't have the words how much I fucking love this stuff...
one of the best trumpet solos I've heard!

Tightest band in the world!
Funking fantastic!
こんな映像が残っていたなんて!あなたの素晴らしい仕事に感謝します!
There was such a video left! Thank you for your wonderful work!
These guys are not only ahead of their their but at the same time TIMELESS!
Barry Finnerty is on fire!
This band was killing it!!! Love it
Amazing!!!
Neil Jason starting his solo with a George Clinton quote. Baller.
Outstanding!😎😎😎
Neil Jason is super F great!
Randy´s trumpet sounds like an electric guitar...awesome stuff!
Ogni volta che sento Neil Jason mi commuovo
Damn Good... FKNG AWESOME 👍💥
NEIL JASON ON BASS!
Super underrated player. He slays with the Brecker Bros
Sou fã de Randy Becker desde a minha infância quando comecei a tirar as primeiras notas no trompete
Heads up for students: No Michael Brecker solo, but still enormous knowledge to gain.
KILLER!
Great Video

Whatever happened to Neil Jason?! He used to be such a stalwart presence in the studio scene, especially in NY.
He's still around..he's on FB ..look him up
@@bassrob88 But of course, thank you. However, I had the sheer temerity to cancel my FB account about 5 years ago and never looked back to this day.
Lives in Brooklyn, I think. Still doing his badass thing.

Back when i was just a baby boy.
Different arrangement with no Mike solo. Still killer!
7:50-8:15 could have been “RUSH!” I so miss Michael Brecker…..
this is badass…..but in the immortal words of Rick James "cocaine is a helluva drug!"
Amen, but they sure put it to good use!
Neal Jason and Randy Brecker play their favorite game: “Where is Tonic…?”
The crowd couldnt restrain their enthusiasm. Wild !
And: Michael did not solo !
Hi, do you have Maynard Ferguson recording from same year at Pori Jazz Festival? thanks PM

You know shit is about to go down at a jazz concert when the horn players all have a pedal board.
What A smoking nand
Vulfpeck, but 30 years sooner 😅

かっこいいGOODSong🎵☝🎵🎵🎵★☆★~~~
Michael is great, but I don‘t miss his solo when Randy hits the scene. 😉
No hangover there
Are these the Steps Ahead guys?
Only Michael played with them. Don’t think anyone else here did.
Wah. ?
Of all the drummers on this song on youtube sound like Chambers wins for tempo and pocket.
harvey mason
The guitar player might as well stayed home that day LoL !!
That is right. No use for guitarist on this gig :)
@@JariBehm Hey, isnt that the drummer that used to be with Spyro Gyra??
I love the BB but no Mike solo = forget it
LOL - he must've thought it worked without his solo, because he's the one who decided to lay out. Of course, what did he know?
ドラムソロはいらんな
It’s rubbish
I waited for the melody.. but nothing!!!
Improvisation without melody = not music.
The head that the horns play is the melody. You can't be a musican.
