I live in a small quite remote village in the North Pennines and I've just found out that Edgar Broughton is doing a solo acoustic gig in a local EVEN SMALLER village nearby in April!!! I couldn't believe it !! The Broughtons used to live near me in the 1970's and were always at the places where I used to go .. pubs and parties !!! The organiser of this gig is a friend and he's not charging me .... nice :)
those concerts in hyde park were a great idea and a mad day/weekend away for us lads from stoke,,,,we grew up down there😅✌.., as an aside,Edgar did play on the beefheart "thing" a bit.
Never expect that outstanding quintessence performance ! Far away from the records. Love it! Deviants the highlight! All that historic Fill your head with joy!! Out demons out!
Absolutely more than fantastic. Was there at 14 years old and was caught up it in all When so called 'Punk' arrived 10 years later I thought been there done that
Many thanks for posting, like many others l was there, always at the free concerts in the park, would love to see any video of the pink fairies with Paul Rudolph if anyone has any.
I was there at Hyde Park on that afternoon. Lived just below the GPO Tower so to walk there was very convenient for me went to lots of free festivals at that time.
Man, I've been looking for this "Out Demons Out" footage for YEARS! I was sure I'd seen it in the early days of UA-cam but I hadn't been able to find it since. So THANK YOU! I really wish there was footage of a full "Demons" performance on film, but I'm grateful for the few minutes we get here. ✌😈🦋
Real festivals with no celebrity tents and expensive entrance fees. Glastonbury is now like a Sunday School event with some of the people appearing there..my wife was at the Eric Burdon one on 12.9.69
We followed Broughton for a couple of years before this, memorable concert in Bournmouth Winter Gardens, then a free gig on the beach, the local authority turned the electricity supply off! Me and me mate Chris went back to our tent in Poole! Didn't go in '69, giving up amphetamine fuelled idiot dancing for a straighter life.
2022 going back a bit I overlooked this band but blue cheer atomic rooster pretty things tomorrow pink faeries and others all known This is the missing link Archeology brought me here Let’s start a new religion in 2022
I was sent this by someone working in Austrian TV who filmed the whole thing. It'd be nice to think the unedited footage survived but maybe that's asking for too much - this was all I got. I know of three different sets of footage of the Deviants performance but have only seen two. Very glad you like it, I was thrilled to discover it. I've promoted several Edgar Broughton gigs in the past and conducted a lengthy interview - he's a wonderful guy, and still true to his convictions. His son Luke is a talented performer too.
Somebody somewhere must have unreleased Deviants live recordings... All of the Deviants contemporary bands have released official live recordings from the late 60's - early 70's... Pink Floyd, Pretty Things, Soft Machine, Tomorrow, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Edgar Broughton Band, Pink Fairies, Hawkwind, Stack Waddy, etc
Great footage, great times! At 17:45 there stands maybe a member of Jehovas Witnesses with his papers in his hands in the enthusiastic crowd and a hells angel crossing by... Great times!
That, I believe… is Mick Farren. The band is the Deviants. This is footage from a September 1969 concert in Hyde Park. The hashtags got it all fucked up 😂 It ain’t Zeppelin, or Sabbath, it ain’t metal, there ain’t no guitar solo… but whatever gets ya to the Rock, I guess. haha 🤣
I think i am right in saying that is Jesus dancing on stage during ''Out Demons Out''...??.....if it was he was still strutting his stuff at Pink Floyd Knebworth '75 ...
You didn't? He's definitely there clapping along to 'ODO' at 18:58. I have the frame frozen as I type - can't miss him. Looks like he's having a whale of a time - as he always did! 🙂
In retrospect, Out Demons Out, whilst quite pertinent when chanted before the Pentagon in 1967, when shouted to the winds in Hyde Park is rather a.....joke, without any meaning whatsoever.
@@stephencopping9953 Ha! It was Edgar Broughton who was a bit heavy, he wanted to exorcise himself, maybe. But still, that's some funky drumming from Steve, I always thought that.
Surely the "demons" he is referring to are metaphorical things such as hate, suffering, hunger, war, pollution etc rather than say politicians of the time (as was the case with The Fugs), so chanting Out Demon's Out is an incantation or a spell if you prefer aimed at ideas rather than specific people.
È lo stesso concerto in cui esordirono live anche i KING CRIMSON??? E c'erano anche i QUINTESSENCE e i SOFT MACHINE??? Il tutto fu organizzato dai ROLLING STONES??? Concerto completamente GRATUITO in HYDE PARK a LONDRA!!!!!!!!
There's no one quite like Edgar Broughton.
There`s always the magnificent Pink Fairies
A truly possessed performer. And these repetitive guitar riffs play off thrillingly against that singing/chanting/preaching he does.

😂I remember I got my bum wet 0o a common in 69....a never for get band..Rob,
They should have brought Edgar Broughton to America. He would have made everyone forget about Edgar Winter
Edgar Broughton, nothing if not unexpected. Brilliant. Thanks for this footage. Who would believe in 2021 I could be back in 69. Gungami.
A far cry from the over commercialised festivals these days, great footage from an amazing festival.
It wasn’t a festival. It was a Saturday free concert in the park.
I was there...brilliant gig...🧡🧡🧡
I was there. Great day. I loved the Free Hyde Park concerts. Hitched up from Oxford for them.
That's so cool! 😊
Can you see yourself in the footage?
Sadly, I can't but I am sure I would have been "idiot" dancing@@janusmcgee8909
Stunning Broughton footage. Absolute MONSTERS in this proto punk rocket ship
Those were the days of great music ! Love from Greece 🥰
Great fooftage of the Deviants with the late Mick Farren performing with the band what would become the Pink Fairies. 👍👍👍

RIP Steve Broughton
Loved those concerts and Edgar Broughton Band. I was the absolute double of Arthur Grant ( the bass player) in those days
I was there...reel band power, thank you eddy bob singleton.
Genialer Musikmitschnitt! Danke für das Hochladen.

Cor, lucky you

Brilliant always underrated Quintessence, they made some great albums of which I have most.
one of the best concerts I ever saw was Quintessence
First gig I went to, in December of 1970, was Quintessence. A life changing event for me.
I appreciate them more today than I did then.
Thanks for sharing! Amazing footage and music
Wonderful!
To the people who say there is good new music being made...yeah, right...nothing like this!
Как здорово что все мы здесь сегодня собрались
"In the name of the holy triangle".......☝😇🔺

Though incomplete This is the only existing footage of Al Stewarts ZERO SHE FLIES. He stopped playing that song by 1972

Edgar should rewrite that song as Out Tories Out

Using the old WEM handful.
Edgar Broughton Band were brilliant. One of my favourites of the 'heavy' underground bands. The rest was kinda so-so, but still fascinating.
Mick Farren, flat as a pancake but a total star..love that guy.
👏👏👏👏

Bass guitars don't tend to feedback do they?
RAJA RAM 😎
This first song is sounding like early Sabbath

Well said.
I believe there was a particular group of people who were getting a bit heavy and Broughton was directing the song at them !
