I like the idea of the format of 2 people sharing ideas and thoughts back and forth.
Glad to hear you liked the format!
Great job keeping us updated. Special thanks to blackboxmycar. Just purchased a Viofo a119 mini 2 through them after seeing Vortex review on it. Can't wait to get it and try it out while driving at night. 🙂
So, the ThinkWare multiplexer is a cool idea, but I'd love to see them be able to take multiple channels at full resolution and be able to record them to a network video recorder inside the car, with a high capacity SSD (e.g., 2TB), and then provide auto-upload functionality once they connect to your home wifi signal. Maybe also combine that with real-time wireless video alerting and monitoring via 5G mobile data.
Thanks!
Best Video! Really needed this!❤ 👏
I hope one day you expand your channel to cover special aftermarket systems like night vision or Birds Eye view cameras that integrate with infotainment systems.
Also I appreciate someone finally mentioning Garamond multi channel options, the only down side is the audio quality in my experience.
Another benefit for those that want to use GoPro is that it also has the automatic upload to the cloud storage when you have their cloud storage subscription.
I don’t use my GoPro as a dashcam and will be installing a Blackvue in my car. Thanks to BlackboxMyCar, I just bought it and they had it to me in 3 days. Plus it was a great deal.
Thanks for sharing another great review 👍
Great tips 👌
Keep up the great work ♥️
I loved this back and forth talking about these Dashcams.
Glad to hear you liked the format! I enjoyed making it. :)
Great video. You guys have to come together more often 💪
Thanks for the superb reviews,. The cansonic is unavailable in the uk at the moment so will go for the 622GW with rear camera on 4" HDMI extension to point forward, or on a swivel. Inspired by your suggestion of flipping the hdmi port. would a cable work? . Thanks.
I like the A139 custom telemod, would love to see Viofo producing something like that.
Yeah!! Sounds like they've been experimenting with it and playing with it too. :)
Just started watching your videos. I have a couple of new very basic dash cams but I also have a couple of old ones maybe ten years old sold by yada. What I find interesting about the old ones that I have is a plus or minus button allowing you to have 15 power of zoom selection. It is digital zoom not optical but it still allows license plates to be read much easier from behind during the daytime. I never tested the zoom except from directly behind during the day. The operator of the dashcam can leave it zoomed in as trying to adjust it even at a stoplight is a little annoying. I haven't noticed the newer dash cams with that feature. Thanks for your extensive testing.
My two dash cam idols. lol

Good day guys. Great discussion! What do you think about the insta360 as a dashcam solution to cover front, side and interior? I wonder if it has enough resolution to see license plates clearly.
Guys 👍👍 nice one great video
I have Thinkware U1000 2 channel as my rear camera and side camera, I also have Blackvue Dr900s 2 channel as my front and side camera. Both connected to battery packs that can last about 4 - 5 days without charging. I installed a relay box to provide power.
How many battery packs are you using and which models?
nice@ very educational
Tesla says that they will be updating the 8 installed cameras with 5mp cameras (replacing the original 1.2 mp ) along with hardware 4.0 cpu sometime in late 2023 or early 2024 model year. Possible around the release of the CyberTruck. Older cars can upgrade the cameras, but probably at owner expense. FYI!
Ooh great news about the update!
But its not a dashcam, it cannot record unless you hit a button, so no drive logging only events. Century is on all the time you are parked, but parked only.
I know it's a brand BlacBoxMyCar doesn't sell, but before I discovered 70mai, I was actually using a Wize V3 as a dashcam on my parent's car, which was horrible. Now I do recommend the 70mai S1 often for non-tech savy people who think $100 is way too much for a dash-cam. Loop recording at 1080p with superb night vision is enough, and for only $35, is totally worth it. And I even disable the G-sensor and voice commands as they only become an annoyance. Apps and more passwords would just make it unusable for my parents. Just pull the SD and retrieve the file. Done.
On the other hand, I'm actually a techie nerd and love the advanced features that BBMC products provide. But we are a very limited portion of the population.
I wish more car manufactures provided more integrated dashcams. My Acura already has 360 degree cameras and an additional camera in the upper windshield for safety systems. Would be nice to add a SD card reader in the glove box or front console storage area for additional memory storage. That would help with the overheating issue I have living in the southwest. I've never had an overheat warning with any of those cameras with temps +100 degrees F in the summer (120-160 degrees F in the car).
Do you have any recommendations for backup cameras? They all seem to be really low resolution
I think both of you should pool your resources design and build your own dashcam it should be a system that has 5 cams front, back, sides & internal, with expandable storage up to 2 terabytes
This was great
Sure would like seeing a video on your 4 camera car setup.
The video is linked in the video description and a clickable button during the video. You can also see it here: ua-cam.com/video/gSFxqHrF2Ro/v-deo.html
It's overwhelming, I wish I could get a definitive answer on what unit to get

Are there any dash cams that have a sim card slot so that you can remotely view the cam?
Yeah multiple companies offer that now
Can you do a review for the Ring dash cam ?? If so how soon can you do it?
I have one on preorder. It hasn’t started shipping yet. Dashcam reviews take time though so it’ll be a little bit after Amazon begins shipping units.
@@VortexRadar ok thanks for the quick response
I have the new Cansonic Z3 Plus 2k, and it's great - now I can easily read the plates on cars in the oncoming traffic at 45 to 55 mph. They are even coming out with a 2k rear camera, it's listed on their website, but it says sold out.
It’s not out yet, but it’s coming. Glad to hear you’re enjoying yours! :)
Ariel. I am a long haul truck driver and am finally looking to install a dashcam in my truck. I want a forward facing camera and 2 additional camera's - with each camera watching the 2 fender mounted mirrors. Because sometimes I am hauling loads on a flatbed trailer, I was thinking about installing a 4th camera high outside on the rear of my sleeper watching the load.
I am not techie but I like what I am hearing about wi-fi. My wife and kids would also love to see what I am seeing. Is that possible?
Looking forward to your reply. Brad Knowles posted 3 months ago something about real-time wireless video.
Blackvue has some 3CH options with cloud capabilities that would work. It usually only comes with one exterior waterproof camera. You could reach out to them to see your options for replacing the interior cam with a second exterior one. geni.us/BlackvueDR770XBoxTruck
they good for keyless car robbers?
Ariel who's that?👀
lol
L I K E 👍👍 👍 👍👍 🍀🍀🍀🍀 🍀🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I KNOW I am in the minority here when I say this....
Ive been taking car pics for 20+yrs now. My 1st flip phone.. only requirements I had was that it had a SD card or a cord to attach it to a computer. Then when I upgraded from that.. newer device had the ability to send the pics by email. I blew that phone up because of the sheer amount of data it was sending. Id do 20pics a day...
20+yrs later.. and a slew of poor devices (not phones), phones have moving parts, current units have no parts that move.
Id be happy to have high 2+k resolution, zoom ability. I dont need nor want a screen in my car. Car is a manual 20+yrs old, without a screen of any kind. Visibility isnt an issue at all. Im just mad cause I keep missing some seriously good Car or Truck Pics.
Freightliner Argosys
389 Petes
Porsches
Lotus Espirit
Flat Nose semis...
Im not interested in the usual buy-it-for-safety-or-security mindtrap. I want it for pics....
This green unit.. looks decent, but I dont want that screen inside. Heck, I envision a process where if I had a decent one like some Thinkware unit.. Id have to go through the Video and screen shot the cars / trucks I saw.. and save those shots as jpgs then delete the videos once Ive processed them.
There is a Bluetooth method of getting all your photos and videos to jump over to your Windows laptop or Windows home computer from your phone , if you use it as a dashcam. when in range. I believe what I used to before was called BlueStacks. Back around 2012 I was using it when we didn't have a lot of memory on our phones. I can pull in the driveway it would connect and start jumping all the photos and videos. Then I had it set to automatically delete them off the phone.
1:22 you talk super fast
You dont want to give a third party your gps data? Then I guess you turn off your phone while driving then ?
My opinion, companies should spend more time perfecting 4K and 6K cameras. That way, if needed, you have the resolution to zoom in during post production editing.
Why not 8K60HDR ISO 128,000 and ultrahigh shutter speeds with F/1.0 Zeiss lenses costing $100. :D
@@VortexRadar That would be a great start, lol. Love your channel! Thank you for all your hard work!
why don't you guys develop your own dash cam? With better chips and better lenses..
This is boring. Also, all this has been covered before.
I just couldn't vibe with this dual presenter, different room thing and turned it off.
