@@robertwheeler1797 We don't really. I haven't seen the owl for a week or so but we see squirrels down there now. And in a few weeks we will probably begin to see the ducks arrive. I think they think its a neighborhood house for anyone who shows up. Sort of, first come, first serve. We're going to eventually build another one.
@@robertwheeler1797 Repetitious checking. When a squirrel is noticed and you Todd thier nesting material they are discouraged that they have been found out and reduces their return.
We just made two screech owl boxes. They will be installed tomorrow in the woods tomorrow on two trees we can see from the house but will need quality binoculars to see and watch the new neighbors. 🦉🤞🏻
We have a box, it's really our duck box, that a screech owl has come to. He's always looking out the hole, but I've never seen him come and go.
Humans gotta be diligent and very patient to watch the Owls activity at night. Happens so fast

Not technically a perch, but a crawl ladder with wire or possibly front wood panel roughed by saw at end for the to have something to grip on
