Engine Change at Washington Union Station

Union Station in Washington DC is the southernmost point of the Northeast Corridor and the 12 kV 25 Hz overhead electrification system. Trains running through Washington from points north along the NEC to Virginia and points south much change locomotives here. This is the case for Amtrak Northeast Regional 176 which operates from Roanoke to Boston seen here changing power from GE P42DC 153 to Siemens ACS-64 603 for the high speed run up the corridor.
