One BIG thing I forgot to mention: cinematic mode currently only works in 1080p at 30fps (what??). I honestly didn’t realize that until I started editing the footage. So… unfortunately this is not really a tool for filmmakers yet 😔Hopefully this will change in the future.

Hi Eric. And what do you think between the comparison between the iphone 13 and a mirrorless of the level of a Sony A6600?

A bigger sensor and better lens will continue to be the determining factor for the quality of the images. Yes, software will advance and improve, but so will the hardware. The take away is that this kind of development is really good for cinema, as well as for casual use. THAT is what has me excited, not because my phone becomes better, but because my camera will, too.
Can I use a phone camera to shoot something that looks good - sure, especially when played back on the phone itself. But my bigger sensor and better lenses will trump the phone on the big screen, as well as the little one.
Thanks for sharing your insights, Eric. Great stuff as always.

I believe that eventually cameras will peak. The human eye can only detect so much and that one day everyone will have access to the same tools as filmmakers in their pocket. With this in mind I believe in order to stand out and "be different" us filmmakers need to focus on our storytelling skills. For me that's the difference between being a videographer and a cinematographer. A videographer films it as it is and a cinematographer crafts a beautiful story that shows it how it could be not just have the ability to do smoother looking background blurs that the average joe won't notice.

I dont think. This is just a new feature. Cinema cameras always be exist. Only thing will be change is the technology. :D Maybe at future cinema cameras will be much smarter.
