- I know these are probably NOT the oldest home computer newsletters, but it does look like a rather nice and well curated collection of Sorcerer Program Exchange Club issues. Thsi then transformed into ESC or the Exidy Sorcerer Club.
Would you like to see the whole folder scanned and uploaded with the CZUR Aura Pro document scanner? I really think this is a quick and simple way to scan old documents.

The AURA Series book scanner features 14 Megapixels & 240 DPI and offers you the ultimate crystal-clear scanning quality for books and Documents. The included side lighting module greatly reduces the reflections when scanning glossy paper. I'm not sure if I'll ever use it but it's dual functionality as a smart lamp makes it a versatile fixture, suitable for use on your desk or nightstand.

The Sorcerer was my first computer and still my favorite. Always looking for more documents for it, thanks for archiving those!
I'm going to do the whole folder asap.
@@MarkFixesStuffI'm doing what I can to archive sorcerer stuff and make replica boards for people that want them. Any docs you have would be immensely helpful. If you need someone to bounce thoughs off about repairing the sorcerer, I'm here for that too.
I've got a really nice Epson Scanner for print/photos/negatives/slides and loving it. Been looking at a couple different versions of this style of capture for bound books. Nice to see it looks fairly easy to use.
Been using this scanner to scan 60 odd books and it's very good. Nice project!
What a nice piece of kit.
It really is very good to be honest.
Embedding an ocr text really helps searchability
Yeah. I'll give it a go on the "big file" I'm going to make.
"Hey Laser Lips Your Mama Was A Snowblower"
I was close... but wrong!
That's a really useful looking gadget, which I will let some people I know that do archiving know about
When did the name change from SPEC to ESC? Seeing there were dated from the 70s to 1984, I wonder if that change happened in 1982 to stop people signing up to SPEC when they wanted a newsletter to do with Sir Clive's stuff?
Love this stuff. I would enjoy a job as an archivist but I would never get anything done because I would stop and read everything!
I've never seen finger cots like those, only the ones that my wife buys to use while cross-stitching. They're essentially teeny tiny condoms, complete with square foil package and instructions to roll them on starting at the tip.
GREAT work and video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
As always look forward to the restoration, personally the only use I've ever found for a scanner is taking pictures of my huge scarey bits 😁
Thanks for sharing. Your mad story. Not the pics.
As a guy who uplpads stuff to The Internet Archive weekly I would kill to have one of those
Personally I think you should have done a data blast of what you scanned.. ( kids game show 90s itv)
Damn it. That is an amazing idea!! I really wish I'd have thought of that!!!!
It reminds me of the robot from Interstellar.
That last anecdote about cornflakes had me confused until I remembered that on your side of the pond, "Pants" is not synonymous with "Trousers"! 😅
Heck, in the US we don't even say the latter word (some Zoomers might not even know what it means, tbh); to give an example, we might call fancy trousers as "Dress Pants", and I can only imagine how y'all might interpret that phrase! 😅
crumbs! I did actually wonder about that scenario, but said to myself that no-one ever watches that far hahahahahah!
Looks good with loose leaf pages but How well does it cope with bound pages?
So far it’s very good. It uses a kind of LiDAR system which maps out the curvature of the pages and separates facing pages in the software. It’s sometimes a bit of a struggle with shiny paper and you have to watch out for specular reflections from the light sources. Pretty good though
👍👍👍👍👍👍
No link to the scans?
Change of plan. I’m going to do the whole folder this week instead so watch this space.
If you don’t mind me saying “you lucky sod”
I don’t mind at all John!
A spot of janky panky? 😋👍
Sounds like a Madona song
Get off my lawn
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
@@MarkFixesStuff I wish. I want a frosty.
