DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING AND THINGS GO WRONG! THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL!
In this video we build and test a AlgoLaser Delta Laser Cutter and Engraver. I get a few bits wrong and one part is broken in transit. I patch it up and try to work out how the hell to use it whilst messing up multiple times. In the end I burn and cut a couple of things and it's a lot of fun!

Uh oh, Mark fixes stuff mucking about with a laser that requires protective goggles and a big red emergency stop button on the unit, what could possibly go wrong?!...Unpauses and eats some more popcorn ;-)
I find your lack of faith… disturbing.
@@MarkFixesStuff somebody has already mentioned the laser 'Goldfinger' scene and how that could have gone badly lol.
OMG I'M ON FIRE (again)
@@stephenelliott7071
Lasers, Knives and Mark, what could go wrong? Always a joy to see these videos.
Thanks for sharing!
I hope you will make an episode of that Philips videopac!
It’s dead!
@@MarkFixesStuff well your channel is called… Mark Fixes Stuff isn’t it?
Oh yeah!!
@@MarkFixesStuff😜
Oooooh Matron, Big Flaps, take them away 😅
Nice laser cutter. I love the 3D Monster Maze coaster. 👍
No sign of Terry and Dave. I bet they were down the pub, again.
They are lazy sods
@@MarkFixesStuff Hopefully not a terrible Laser accident
@@mockier Laser engraving Terry and Dave? Or would that get you reported to the RSPCJB?
I guess your neighbours must be used to seeing your end hanging out of the window............👍
They get worried if it isn't.
Finally, a UA-camr who actually understands how multiple camera angles are supposed to work. You don't just cut away to the second angle while you yammer away looking at the first camera, you're meant to actually look at the second camera.
Anyway, it's a shame about the glass, although I felt like you can't really see much through it anyway. 20W does seem pretty powerful for a solid-state laser, and it does seem to cut through those materials well enough. Personally, I'd go for an enclosed unit just so I can use it indoors (obviously with an exhaust fan venting it outside). Except I definitely wouldn't have the patience to learn what settings you need to use for which materials, so even though I've done a lot of projects that would probably have benefited from a laser cutter (and thought of doing plenty more), I'd probably just stick to 3D printing.
You really need to replace the shield or build an enclosure ASAP. As you will forget to put your glasses on, trust me lol
Oh yeah. I have been very careful so far but don't trust myself. Algolaser are kindly sending a replacement shield, and I've ordered a fireproof enclosure with a 4" duct for extraction on the way now. I'm not using it until then. Also ordered a big sheet of aluminium to go under the whole printer and protect the table.
That's a nice looking emergency button!
I like big buttons, and I cannot lie.
Laser cutting is easy, personally I use mind bullets.
That machine looks suspiciously similar to the Creality one and a few others.
My first project after getting my laser was to build an enclosure to contain the smoke and direct it into the vent hose.
I toyed with building one, but I’m the end I’ve ordered one of the flame proof tent things with a window and an extraction vent 😊. It’s too stinky to use
Clem the Gem!
I’m enjoying the new hair!
I am enjoying that you are enjoying it.
@@MarkFixesStuff I’m enjoying that you’re enjoying me enjoying it.
1:34 Wasn't Lionel Richie in The Commodore 64s? 😁 (I'll get me coat...)
Oh... what a feeling...
What a Carry On trying to get a good print of Clement Atlee
Not Arf!
The Algo actually looks decent. Nice first attempt with LB.
Thank you! Still a bit clueless and now I either have to buy it or switch to LaserGRBL.
@@MarkFixesStuff I can tell you for certain you get what you pay for. $60 gets you a lifetime license... well worth it. Not just saying that because I work for LB. I used it well before they hired me😇
Couldn’t help but think of Goldfinger as you were putting this together. Mark with a laser, dangerous stuff 😂
Off topic, but you look so much better with the new haircut.
Thank you. I think so too.
I've been a Carry On fan for decades. and never once has Sid James mentioned 'big flaps' before, as far as I'm aware. Who needs Talbot Rothwell? I'm really hoping to hear things about 'Bearded Clams', 'Belgian Biscuits' and 'Cleveland Steamers' in the next thrilling episode.
Oh what a lovely pear!
The next part is to melt the laser module on the X axis! Ohh you said mount!! 😅😅👍
Misheard but not misinterpreted...
How in the world did Mark not get sponsored by The Laser Pecker. The world just isn't fair.
I guess that's too easy...
Cardboard is a tried and tested material to protect stuff from laser damage.....what's that burny smell 😆
I really do need to think this whole thing through.
@@MarkFixesStuffthere are large silicone mats you can put beneath the honeycomb.. or just buy a metal sheet 😁
@@MarkFixesStuff That cardboard thing is a big fire hazard, Get an aluminum sheet under the honeycomb.
@@igcreates2760I’ve ordered an 800mm by 800mm sheet of aluminium, 1mm thick. I’ve got a fireproof enclosure with a 4” game duct for getting the fumes properly out of the window.
I'm very surprised to see they are using an actual piece of dichroic glass on the viewing window. Can you describe what color everything is tinted when looking through the glass and what color everything appears to be when reflected off the surface?
Yellow/blue but it’s hard to tell. The replacement came and it’s just a red filter. Less expensive.
@@MarkFixesStuff interesting, thx
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Not sure if you're trying to bait for engagement or if it's just been a really long time since you last saw an S-Video cable :P 16:35
Did it work?
I don't need a laser cutter. I buy my lasers ready cut.
Bloody organised people, coming over here, lasers pre-cut!
it does look a lot if fun, but for over £1000, I can't really say I have a lot of use for it other than as a novelty.
Yes, I do have some practical uses lined up for it here, prototyping some things.
I think you have a GameCube investation, maybe you can laser cut a trap to keep them at bay? 😅😊
Bloody italian plumber droppings...
Did you use the laser cutter on your hair? Nice do!
Thanks!
Ok, I have to ask. Did you try making toast with it? And more to the point, can you burn Sid James onto the bread?
I literally have that planned as a funny little video and I told a few people. Did someone tell you or did you just guess?
@@MarkFixesStuff Neither. Be the sort of thing I'd try myself.
I'd probably try other things like chocolate, cake, carrot, Rice Krispy, gummy bears ...
6:13, its bigger on the inside 😁
That's what he.. oh..
@@MarkFixesStuff 🤣
Considering the hair and face fungs has gone, I'm guessing the laser cutting didn't go to plan
It's my new "youthful" look for the TikTok generation!
Hex driver... really? this hex driver "frigger tool" is commonly known in the UK as an allen key. Love the Dizzy art work lazer edition btw.
Yeah, Allen is a brand name from the USA and the name kind of stuck like using the name Hoover for a vacuum cleaner. I tend to say hex key myself because there's no ambiguity.
Glad you like the Dizzy image. It really did cut the darker tones quite deeply. I have another "proper" use for the laser coming up soon and it's more practical.
Mmmm lasers. I have two now and want more.
“Frikken lasers”
@@MarkFixesStuff pew pew pew
There great machines Mark but very dangerous no enclosure no fume extractor no proper safety
Enclosure with a 4" duct for extraction on the way now. I'm not using it until then. Also ordered a big sheet of aluminium to go under the whole printer and protect the table.
Glad to hear that Mark I would h8 it if u got ill from the fumes lol where would be get the cheesy innuendos from ;)
Looks like that laser has burnt off your beard! :o
And my hair!!
Well if it doesn't fit on the sharks head and world domination goes tits up you can always corner the market in custom coasters😂😂😂😂😂😂
for One MIllion Dollars!!
I was surprised how often you mentioned "Burning Stuff", I think you have PTSD!
Post Terrible Singeing Depression?
Software you need to use with hardware you bought & own should NEVER have a "30 day free trial." It should be 100% usable forever.
I personally chose to use this particular software because I wanted to try it. The laser is also compatible with the free LaserGRBL application, which is open source.
This doesn't seem to be provided by the hardware manufacturer, just a program that Mark decided to use.
I do agree with your sentiment, but it doesn't seem to be the case here.
@@NebachadnezzaR yes. In fact AlgoLaser do sell LightBurn licences separately but LaserGRBL is fine
Clem Attlee must be turning in his grave!
Or Sid James is...
