On a completely unrelated note, you’re not from the North of England by any chance are you? Thanks for your reaction and analysis! I’d recommend their performances of “Hijo de la Luna,” “Je Suis Malade,” and “Time in a Bottle” for more examples of how incredible their voices are individually, but even more so when they harmonize and in more complex arrangements!
I never get tired of listening and watching Forestella perform. “Inner Universe” is one of my favorites (speechless the 1st time I watched the recording), but everything they sing becomes magical. “Time in a Bottle,” “Hijo de la Luna,” etc. are amazing. They are brilliant live, too. No surprise there😊. Individually they are incredible, but together they really take their music to another level.
Ikr, but my favorite is Utopia lately. Stuck in my head, n yet hard to sing thou. 😅

Scarborough Fair has to be among the top of the list for anyone who has good taste in music.
Here is a little bit of information on the first singer to go, Cho Mingyu; he is a formally trained opera singer, an incredibly talented singer. He was going to have a career in opera, but was told he would never have big roles because of his tenor leggiore tone. He was quite discouraged and considered quitting the singing world when he heard about the Phantom singer competition. The world is blessed now to have him in this fantastic crossover group. When you have a chance, please react to 2 of Mingyu’s singles, “Balada para un Loco”, and “Balada triste de trumpeta”. Truly amazing talent!
balada triste de trompera messed up my mind. The original singer is from mu country nd this is a classic song, when i (not heard) watched the whole performance mingyu did, damn, he really made it even better.

Mingyu is a blessing, and without him, there would be no forsestella. he literally hand-picked the others during the show. I was so happy to see such a smart guy who didn't only use his incredible vocals during the competition but he used his brains, too. :)
i totally agree! I love his belt voice specifically which is show up middle in a song with a full of power. And of course his solo performances are breathtaking. However he is the leader of the group (despite in their cultre older one should be the leader but every member have respect and trust for him) and tecnic expert about voice.

If you like this classical vibe, you'll also like their Angel and Parla piu piano. But I recommend Time in a bottle because they did a hilarious part-change challenge on it 😂. The bass really loves the song, but it's quite a hard-working song for the rocker-soprano.. so he made the bass to sing his high notes. Check how the bass did! 😂
Also please watch their Shape of you! As far I know, Forestella is the only group using their bass this way. I love their uniqueness and creativity. I am not a big fan of Ed Sheeran's original, even it was so popular and catching, however Forestella made me replay it for thousands times. Please try their Shape of you in English, Spanish and isiZulu.

Great analysis! This is also one of my favourite covers of theirs. Kang Hyung Ho has an amazing voice; being able to sound angelic in one song and like a rocker in the next! It was also nice to see an analysis and reaction to a cover where Bae Doohoon (the baritone, the guy on the far right) was more visible vocally! His voice is my personal favourite, mostly because of how he conveys emotions through his voice and performance (especially in sadder songs). I really love each of their individual voices, but their harmonies just elevate all their performances! I love it when Ko Woorim (the bass) starts singing. His voice is, like you said, a bit warmer… «Weightier» is something they themselves have described his voice as being in comparison to the other three «floatier» voices. Cho Mingyu (the tenor) also has a very clear voice, which I find pleasant to listen to. I would recommend listening to their covers of «Maldita Sea Mi Suerte», «L’immensità», «Parla piu piano», «Dell’amore non si sa», «Time in a Bottle», «As I live (Saldaga)», «Hijo de la Luna», «Je suis malade» and well any of their other covers as well as their original songs like «Save our lives» and «Utopia» Thank you for your reaction to Forestella! ❤

Can I briefly introduce the Forrestella members?
The first person to start singing is Mingyu Cho - classically trained leggeiero tenor and leader of the group.
From the front, the second person from the left is Kang Hyung Ho-believe it or not no professional training! he's a former chemist. he's a tenor/counter tenor/soprano. He has an amazing range of notes, from his baritone to his high soprano. He is also working as a rocker named Pitta.
From the front, the person on the right is Doohoon Bae - musical actor and oldest member.
From the front, the person on the left is classically trained bass and
youngest member.

Thank you again for your insightful analysis of FORESTELLA. I love this more classical version, especially as this song has its actual origins in medieval England. This is where the beauty of the song, the unique voices and the incredible harmonies come into their own. But this performance is only one of many facets of FORESTELLA. This group is constantly challenging itself. I definitely recommend their latest crasy ORIGINAL m/v "Utopia". It's really rocking and on a completely different level. Would love to hear an analysis here.

Finally Peter! Thank you for returning to reacting and analyzing this unbelievable group! FORESTELLA 's vocals just pull you in and hold tight. Please, please do more!! I recommend "For Life" and "The Sky, the Dawn and the Sun." For something different and uniquely beautiful, I loved the group singing to Ko WooRim and Kim Yuan's wedding in the Fall of last year, and them singing to Bae DooHoon's wedding just a couple weeks ago. DooHoon, being DooHoon, chose their second song as "Shape of You." ;) Please cover more of FORESTELLA! Kang HyungHo (the countertenor) also records as PITTA. His Phantom is just unbelievable! (sigh) And then there's Nella Fantasia... Cho Minkyu is the leader of the group and a classically trained Tenor. Bae DooHoon (musical theatre trained) does a truely heartrending version of "Gethsemane". And Ko WooRim, well you already love him. Would love to hear you two sing together!
Oh yes, I love "For Life" and "The Sky the Dawn and the Sun" too! Mostly because of Ko WooRim's beautiful bass 😅Sadly you don't hear bass singers in popular music enough.

This is the Scarborough Fair/Canticle version that was originated by S&G. It, to MY taste, is the best version of all of them. The extra lyrics weaving in and out of the more well-known text just make it so much more interesting, to me.

Thank you for your reaction. I think many people assume that Forestella is "poppy" because they do a lot of pop covers and those are usually the ones reactors react to. But Forestella is essentially crossover, so they do have a lot of "classical" stuff (in terms of singing style at least). You should check out L'immensita, which showcases that, even though the countertenor doesn't use his highest range in that song. The other one I really like is Maldita sea mi suerte. That was the song that propelled them from 3rd place to 1st place in Phantom Singer, the show they were put together on. And the countertenor performed it being sick, just back from a hospital treatment that night... Still killed it. .))

I watched your Lady Gaga cover of Bad Romance analysis then watched the original. It added to my enjoyment of what they did. Scarborough Fair was a favorite of mine when I was young (when it first came out). It will be interesting not only to see what they have chosen to do with it but hear your analysis as well. I haven't checked, but if you haven't seen their cover of Despacito - I highly recommend it.
