    The software has updated since this video was posted. It looks like the "Material and focus test" was moved somewhere else. Does anyone have an idea on where I can find it?

      @@stuffisthething It looks like you have to got to the Full Spectrum laser website, click on the laser 101 tab, click on tips then scroll down to the bottom where it says Material Test. Looks like you have to download it from there. Hope this helps!

    so how do you rate the software retina to others and which one would you prefer

    Nice little intro to the program, I've used our laser 2 times and I would like to do more with it. In Vector, I wonder if I can do a "full" hatch, then set the power low so it engraves, rather than cuts? Also, I wouldn't mind figuring out if I could do bevels - I might just have to do that on a table saw or router.

    I downloaded retina engrave after 30 days or so, it says I have to register my retina engrave so I can continue engraving. How do I do that?

    other than engraving, can this Machine do precise cut? I don't see alignment fences so I'm curious.

      it can. you can easily focus the laser depending on the materials you're using. I've cut fairly intricate designs with mine.

    I use this software but the "Material and Focus Tests" option is not in my laser menu. I have a Pro Series 24x18 90w laser. I have contacted Full Spectrum to see if they know why.

      Did you ever figure this out? I have a used 24x18 and am trying to figure out how to do material tests

    Is it possible to combine a raster and vector cut form the same image? I was to raster cut first then vector.

    Is there an option for someone who wishes to cut Kydex? In a previous video you stated that you should not cut PVC however I am at a loss as to why it would be an issue if you have a ventilation system, would not the corrosive gasses be expelled??

    • @ArcRayven
      @ArcRayven 8 років тому

      I could be wrong on this but the main reason I've been told you cant use a number of materials like PVC is because of the corrosive gas thats released from the intensity of the laser. The gas released to my understanding will then start burning your mirrors out which are not very cheap. Plus without a chemical filter on your ventilation for the off-gas, I personally wouldn't chance it

      I know the question is old, but for anyone reading this kydex should NOT be cut via laser. It's an acrylic polyvinyl chloride and will release chlorine gas during cutting which will damage your system.
