Thanks bro, this sounds good. I drilled 3 holes in the right side, and 2 in the left and it sounds way better. I almost gave up looking for a way until I found this video. I was on the fence also at first. But I'm glad I did it.
What year is your C90? I have a 2015 and was thinking about drilling the back of the pipes or removing the baffles. Doesn't appear to have the black box you have.
Thanks Blue, I'm no kid Bro. Upon my second look; what you're saying had already become glaringly obvious. Back when I wrote that; I had just gotten the bike & wrongly assumed that it had some semblance of a traditional motorcycle exhaust system, with exhaust pipe from manifold to tip with baffles. I thought the collector was just an extra place for pressure to escape to, and be muffled. It crossed my mind to do what you're talking about, but it seems like a bad idea to run that very narrow 1.33" OD pipe unrestricted. There will be no back-pressure. I'd love to hear how it turns out if you do it. But I don't think it will sound good, or run good (especially if you have EFI). I thought it may be a better idea to fab some kind of reducer coupling that would step the 1.33" to 1.5" or 1.75". Then you could use any slip on motorcycle muffler. They're a dime a dozen on ebay & craigslist. I've pretty much given up and decided to ride a ridiculously quiet motorcycle. Good luck Blue, keep me posted. Reid
After all these years, would you still recommend someone dio this mod? any unforeseen effects from drilling the holes. I worry about the carbon escaping the collector and turning the parts nearby the holes black.
@@allenjacob9575 nice!! I ended up drilling four holes on the right side of my carbon collector. And it kind of sounds like a little four cylinder car without a muffler. I think I made drill more holes on the other side to see if it evens out the poopies sound
On the fence about trying this. It sound a little too raspy from the video but that may just be because it's being filmed on a cell phone. I was hoping for a throaty sound like the stock but just a little louder.
Tried it with my 05 c90. Sounds really bad. Sounds just like I've got 5 big exhaust leaks. Pfft pfft pfft. Time to break out the welder. Do not recommend doing this
I optimistically tried this too and you're right it was a bad idea, I thought it was just camera quality in the vid but it sounds the same in real life -- not great lol. I'm experimenting by inserting steel wool (yes I know that sounds like a terrible idea, so was this entire video lol) because I bored a 2 inch hole on left side instead. It actually has muffled the harsh snappy/leaky sound a bit; although I wouldn't say it sounds GOOD lol
Do NOT do this! I bought a set of Cobras for 150 bucks that sounds WAY better. If you drill these holes it might make it sound louder It will do NOTHING for performance. The "black box" is a collector, not a muffler. This will make your bike sound like shit and just collect black carbon soot all over the bottom of your bike!

so one guy was saying you'd get black soot all over the bottom of your bike. did that happen? Or was he just pissed he bought new pipes. LoL
I am literally just now about to charge my drill batteries and dig out my GOOD bits....I also have a 2005 C90....I'm doing this.

will this work on a 08?
Hi dude I've only put 2x 10mm -3/8 holes in one side and started the bike but seems a bit sluggish . Thought is was even going to cut out.
What would happen if you discarded the collector box & welded caps on the stock pipes where they T over to the collector box?

I have a 2005 c90, and am considering doing the same mood. Have you noticed any decrease in performance or fuel economy?
I have not noticed any decrease in performance or mileage. If anything, it has a little bit better throttle response.
If you know how to stick well you can just weld the whole shot if you're not happy with the sound but go on stage two always makes better sense
After all these years, would you still recommend someone dio this mod? any unforeseen effects from drilling the holes. I worry about the carbon escaping the collector and turning the parts nearby the holes black.
Honestly. No problem at all. If fact, I went ahead and made the holes even larger. No discoloring at all

@@BallisticSuperiority did the extra holes on the left take care of the sound?
Not gonna lie... That sounds like an exhaust leak.

Do you know what that Box is called the black Box do you know the actual name
Why didn't you drill out the baffles
Did you pay attention to the video at all? Lol he literally explained why
Hello, i just bought the same bike as you, did you have any problems by drilling the black box? Grtz
No problems at all

Where did you get Cobras for $150?
@@brianrichardson3295 for real shit all I can find is 5 to 700 dollar cobras for my 05
Not really a fan of this mod. To me it sounds just like a car with a hole in the muffler, which is exactly what this is.
So, you did drill the black box on yours?
