    No CNC, no EDM, no investment castings, just good old-fashioned craftsmanship, a refreshing change, and beautiful to watch.
    Sensitivity to the original is evident and a great virtue.
    Thank you!

    Tommy I would enjoy my work if I had some better tools. It's a joy to see the gifts God has given us. Just loved watching this. Xx

    So interesting. Thank you. What is it to bush clocks and polish pivots. Perhaps you can give a quick demonstration.

    It's sad to see that after a year and a half this fine pair of videos only has 4000 views. You deserve more for your time and patience. Have a good 2022 and do carry on if you can!

    Really good work. I watch both videos in their entirety. This is clock repairing on a whole new level.
    Also I must say, your videography is superb. My videos end up up looking very much like home movies.
    Keep up the good work
    Johnny

    Love the Watchmaker’s vise on the wooden block - very handy; gonna steal that idea! (And thanks for all the work you’ve put into this video!)

      Yes, it's a very handy idea that I picked up from an old hand years ago.

    I've just come across your channel after grazing various model engineering channels. I particularly like watching how you work/file etc. Ie those practical tips you dont read about. I'm in early stage of building a skeleton clock (ws smith) in brass after watching Clickspring. I'm planning on using fusion to blow up the small templates in build instructions. Surprising to see the nature of the seemingly random file marks on the main body, eg. @8:36. I wonder if they are original from the maker or evidence of past repairs.

    • @TommyJobson
      @TommyJobson  3 роки тому

      Thos are actually orginal scrape marks. Traditionally they never bothered to remove them from the front plate on clocks of this era.

    LOVE it! I was really looking forward to seeing you engrave it. I guess you don't do engraving? :( Something I've been wanting to try, but haven't taken the time to try it yet.

    • @TommyJobson
      @TommyJobson  4 роки тому +2

      I’ve always wanted to learn to engrave, but knowing an extremely talented engraver who can do things like this for me it has never quite got to the top of the list.

    For a moment I thought you were about to engrave the piece yourself. (It seemed plausible after seeing you do so much else).

    • @TommyJobson
      @TommyJobson  3 роки тому

      Thanks, engraving is a skill I would like to learn, but for now i’m happy to let those more skilled than myself do it.

    Really nice work - will we get to see the engraved part? Are your workshop lights LEDs? I've found that can cause those annoying horizontal bands (2:03 to 2:08 for example....) on the video sometimes.

      Thank you. I will show the engraved part, but I can’t get to see the engraver at the moment due to lockdown. I have a couple more parts to make first anyway. The flicker is my fault, I had to do some research but I have since found out how to properly set up the camera with an appropriate frame rate etc. Should be cured for all future footage.
