Fun fact: Timberline Lodge was the exterior set for the Overlook hotel in The Shining
nice one captain obvious
From a non skier perspective: Timberline Lodge is quite a place to visit if you're a movie buff.
Wow - Almost nobody knows that.
That hotel is on fire since 9:26 PM. Hope they are able to save some of it, but its a windy clear night.
Less fun fact Timberline Day Lodge is where a very upset Borris Segal while filming World War Three with Rock Hudson made his last wrong turn brutally walking into the tail rotor of the helicoptor he just exited. I was the dishwasher in Cascade Dinning Room. Not a shining moment for t-line.
I think it's also worth noting that Timberline is a hot spot for late-season race ski camps and teams, ranging from local teams to professionals. I know a decent number of people on my race team who have gone to hood before that said it was awesome. From what I know, a decent amount of the terrain off of Palmer in early June or so is set up for race training, but I have no personal experience to back it up.
Great video! Palmer looks amazing.
Great review! I grew up skiing the Mt. Hood area ski resorts and they're all a lot of fun and all offer very different experiences. Timberline has some absolutely massive plans for later this decade, and I can't wait for the gondola connection between Summit & Timberline, among other improvements!
I just got back a couple weeks ago, was very lucky. The first 2 days i was there palmer just opened and flood was still running. 😊
Cool! Looking forward to going eventually, Palmer looks so cool
Palmer is sick! Feels even more amazing than it looks.
Really needed this Video. Was just thinking of where to go in April to Ski.
Looks like an awesome mountain!
It's important to note for those wanting to ski in the summer that the Palmer Icefield is usually separated into lanes. Ski camps exclusively occupy many of the lanes. So, you can't wander all over the icefield. However, one of the great things to do in the summer is to watch Olympic skiiers and snowboarders practice over and over again. Free to watch. As mentioned, the terrain park and half pipe are moved up slope in summer...these are really giant, and are for pro level...no beginner park, that's for sure! So, in summer, come, hike up to the Palmer lift and watch the action.
Glad you didn’t mention any of the canyons 👍
I turn 30 this year. I'm from Arkansas and my birthday is in June. I couldn't be happier a place like this exists in the summer. I don't really get that many chances to do my favorite activity in the world, especially not on my birthday.
It used to be year round the glacier has melted to the point where they usually have to close down in mid August and can't re-open until November or December.
Hey bro could you make a video about: ranking mont tremblant in quebec pls❤😊. Have a great day its always a pleasure looking ur videos
Creek beds are fun! But other than that, you’ll probably be a little disappointed during the winter. Most locals get their winter pass for the meadows and do spring here.
Great video, you should cover Crystal this season! I feel like it’s on par/better than meadows even
Thanks! We have our written Crystal review on our website, it is ranked higher than Meadows: www.peakrankings.com/content/crystal
We're working to get some clear footage this season so we can actually throw up an accompanying vid.
I've been learning to ski and Timberline is my home away from home. I don't do anything at the lodge because it's overpriced and meh so I have nothing to say about that, but the 5 for resiliency seems weird considering there's a ton of terrain open to ski from november through may and it's basically always open.
Also good to note, you can skin/bootpack up above the clouds often, and are greeted with the most incredible views of an undercast valley.
I definitely would say it's a place to go if you want to get a mix of park and traditional runs, and probably isnt' nearly as fun if you aren't going to the park. But it's gorgeous, and the snow is almost always great. I'll agree though there isn't much "difficult" terrain, which I appreciate as a new skier, the length of the runs and the quality of the snow really makes up for it.
I have to go there and use my "own" Pucci lift
i was a timberline mgr for 12 years. i made hundreds of snowboarding videos there from the years 2005 thought 2021. it was a great time. first season i rode 200 days. as in a annual year. i did summer shred videos. winter pow videos. videos with other timberline employees all the time. i filmed burton snowboarding contests there on the deck of the half pipe. i was employee of the year for our dept 3 times. i made videos snowboarding as KISS. as a ninja doing weapons as i went down palmer. i filmed a zombie walking dead tribute snowboarding video there. and i did a bigfoot snowboarding video there. i would assume i made more timberline snowboarding videos than any other person in the history of mt hood. ad i am not joking. i left 3 years ago to move back to the midwest after 20 years in oregon. due to to many tourists. i got sick of them. well i was sick of them from day 1. so were all the other locals. they had to deal with it. as it is a job. but we were there for the shred. and our homies. not the tourists. eventually all my friends have left for the most part.
1:45 how tf does that midstation reroute work?
Please do Stratton, Stowe, Bromley and Whistler videos
Add Mont Ste Marie to that
Stratton and Stowe are coming! We hit Whistler for *five* days this season but didn't get a single clear day 💀so that vid will probably be awhile
@@PeakRankings Ok
I hope soon like in the next couple of weeks
@@PeakRankingsnever thought I'd see the day of seeing your channel use the skull emoji.
When are you going to release a whitefish review?
Probably not for awhile - the clips in our Best Values video were the only clear pieces of footage we got all season 😅
@@PeakRankings embrace and show the fog. Helps keep it the value it is.
You should do a killington spring skiing review
@1:34 That comment is misleading in that Stormin' Norman and Jeff Flood (along Magic Mile and Palmer) operate all spring season!? In fact, Stormin' Norman is the lift that services ALL the park riding in the Spring at Timberline.
Jeff Flood is already closed, and Stormin' Norman's last day is this Monday.
@@PeakRankings Yeah but in the review you claim only Palmer/Magic Mile are open in May. Stormin’ Norman as you just mentioned is open thru the super majority of May and Jeff Flood was open last I went mid-May.
@@Mkayyyyyyy that's fair feedback, we should have been more careful with our phrasing there.
Please do Skibowl!
Hope is to get enough footage soon! We've had trouble with the weather there 😅
@@PeakRankings I can understand, some of my best whiteout days (and ESPECIALLY nights) have been there 😎!
Yes you need to do skibowl! Better than T-line on powder days imo
Dies irae, dies illa
Locals know that timberline keeps all its expert terrain in skibowl. There is so little technical terrain at timberline its sad.
Fun fact: this is the male version of siri
“Year round operating”… only for mountain bikes
resume in november? lol its almost december and after thanksgiving right now and its so dry it looks like summer up there! we will be open if they even open the bunny hill by christmas! thanks climate change!
Not gonna lie I don’t think I’ll ever ski at Timberline.
Mt hood meadows is way better.
Wait so you haven’t been to timberline yet you’re saying meadows is way better? That’s cute.
Tree runs and parks are much better at TLine. If all you care about is steeps, I guess meadows is your thing? It’s probably a better overall resort but not “way” better.
@kk56111 timberline has like one main tract and it's all boring.
looks boring
There’s a good bit of misinformation here
Such as? Be specific
Cruisers are fun. Stay on site and not have your car get 🤬... like by staying anywhere near the 💩💩 to the west.
