I immediately subscribed. It took less than a minute to tell your stuff is the real deal. The footwork sets itself apart from what works and what doesn't work. Great stuff!
After seeing your documentary, makes so much sense why you are such a great teacher, because you use to be one! Some of the best content on UA-cam at the moment, thank you.
I learnt to block like this when I did traditional martial arts. When I started doing kickboxing I was told not to block like this and shell up and use my gloves more but I still use the high gate blocks anyway, which I learnt from doing Shaolin kungfu.
excellent striking defense teaching..very helpful. I am trying to transition from boxing to more MMA striking to incorporate with Combat Sambo training.
Matt doesn’t want to drop down and roll too much you can run into a knee regardless still great work both of you! And I’m going to try to use my elbows to block It makes sense
0:19 Thank you... some of the guys keep shelling up like the boxing style and when I block with my elbows covering my side of the face bc I'm prepping for a mma match they get mad with me telling me not to block like that and use the boxing style
😢is it still possible for me to train and fight mma? I have extremely terrible vision, abt 600+ short sightedness. When i take off me glass me reaction is slow. Im slow even if its in 12oz boxing gloves 😭😭😭
Hi! it is possible with slow sparring to develop a reaction speed that will get rid of the knockouts in the match that come from fast and hard hits that you didn't experience in training. How can you develop fast defensive reflexes with slow speed sparring? I ask this because I know that hard sparring is the main culprit for CTE and other brain problems and that's why I'm looking to find out if you can develop fantastic defense with slow sparring. Thanks!
You can separate stuff, fast but not full force punches, drills with limited techniques, but at the end of the day, YOU WILL NEED SOME HARD SPARRING!!!
Thats is great. Ive seen this long guars from all of the top fighters: adesanya, jones, mcgregor. Great way to catch your opponent coming in
@RC I'm not tall and use long guard effectively against taller opponents
@RC I'm 5'10
@RC not really when my opponents are a foot are a foot are more taller than me 🤷
@RCBeing long is more important than being tall imo. They all have monkey arms. That is a bigger advantage than height for long guard
@RC compare a typical dagestani with a Nigerian that is the same height. The Nigerian is going to be significantly longer
Great video! Lines of defense from easiest to most difficult :
1. Combat Stance
2. Evasive Footwork
3. Parries and Blocks
4. Head Movement
Cant wait for new episodes! Hope you will continue mma series as well. Great source of knowledge
How are these not more popular?
you think that's something? Sylvie Von Douglass Itu is criminially under appreciated on UA-cam! (but I like this channel to)
