I've always wondered if the whole story about a male Gerudo being born every 100 years was just propaganda created by the Twinrova, Koume and Kotake. Specifically to make the Gerudo accept Ganondorf as their king and serve his agenda. Assuming that the Gerudo do not keep history records of previous leaders, these women would have no choice but to trust the 400 year old witches who claims that "this is how things have always been". It's an interesting thought at least. I'm also musing whether Ganondorf truly was born by a Gerudo woman, or if it's possible that he was "created", maybe by the Twinrova themselves in order to make a male Gerudo. Especially since we know nothing about his biological parents.

True. But you should consider the life span as well. You mentioned the Gerudo Witches lived to 400 years old, but is it only them because they know magic or do all Gerudo have a long life span? If the latter is true, you could have quite a few male Gerudo existing at the same time, each with a 100 year age gap, all of whom except for the current King bearing the title Prince. As for parentage, my theory is that a Gerudo woman chose a Hylian Royal (a distant relative of either the King or Queen) to be the father of her child & fate decreed she give birth to a boy & Twinrova murdered Ganondorf's parents as part of a cunning plot, a plot which would result in their ward becoming the demon Ganon.

I wonder how Ganon would react to learning of Demise's curse. I imagine he'd turn against Demise and at least temporarily ally with Zelda and link. Ganon seems too proud to essentially be manipulated into an endless war without his say. I doubt he'd be fully good and may legitimately try to oppose the hylian kingdom anyway but he would probably direct his rage at Demise before anyone else just to establish that he does the manipulating, not the other way around.
That's what I'm thinking. He seems to have claimed the curse as his own rather than simply suffering from it even if he may not be aware of it, so I'm guessing he might also think Demise is just full of shit and continue on with what he was doing until Demise doesn't let him ignore him anymore lol. The possibility of Ganondorf being subservient to Demise sounds...wrong on so many levels. I also can't see Demise allowing anything but Ganondorf's submission. I doubt we'll see it, but damn I would love to see those two lock horns. Edit: I haven't played a Smash Bros in years, is that an option for at least pretending it might be a canon thing?

I've seen published authors seemingly do something similar (it looks like it to a reader, anyways), and I do it in my own book. Vague overarching plotholes that don't negatively affect the immediate story are fun to play with lol.

I'm lighter than average but not underweight (for a female), around 50-52kg. But it matches my height and bone structure. I used to be taller than my best friend and the way he outgrew me is embarrassing. But pretty much everyone did. 😂
The first King of the Gerudo was Groose, who was corrupted by jealousy as he saw Link and Zelda populate Hyrule over time. This would lead to his son, Gannondorf, being the perfect instrument of Demise's revenge.
the way i see it, ganondorf is always ganondorf because he selfishly clings to his power, where as link and zelda humbly pass on their divinity, hence why previous gerudo kings arent reincarnations of evil. but this is a wicked cool thery.
This is sort of how I rationalize it. Ganondorf is just so angry, bitter, stubborn, and resentful, that in all his existence he’s only properly died and been reincarnated once.

The moment you mentioned Ghirahiem, something dawned on me- what if he and Death Sword from Twilight Princess are one and the same, just that in TP he's decayed due to a lack of malice? They both are the swords of the King of Evil, and it would make sense for Ghirahiem to want to serve his master again as a weapon.
That's an interesting idea. Although there's nothing substantial to say it was Ganondorf's sword. It could have been, but there are other explanations, like an executioner's blade becoming haunted after one too many kills. I like the way you think, though :)

I think, given his red hair, he is the precursor not to the Gerudo, but the Wind Tribe. Considering he couldn't have the surface after Link, Zelda and the other Humans migrated there, maybe he departed back to the skies for a place to govern. He knew about the skies obviously. This way, he could still have a Grooseland away from Link and Zelda's reign.
From what I can tell, Zelda isn't a reincarnating figure normally, and only the original Zelda from Skyward Sword was the mortal incarnation of Hylia. The other Zeldas are just bloodline descendants.
It seems to be similar with link, every link is a different person with the spirit of the hero, that's why the hero of time and twilight can be in the same place
It's a weird situation, because if the holders of the triforce are always in balance as Ganondorf said, it would imply that there's only one person that can have that power at a time (unless they consciously pass it to someone else as Ganondorf did to Zant). That would then mean that it _could_ be passed on in generations, not necessarily following the "rules" of reincarnation of our world, but each mother would have to die to pass on that power on to their daughters. So, to keep the balance but also keep the bloodline and the royal family place, there would have to be some kind of curse that killed every generation before meeting their descendants. Alternatively, the generations don't have the linear inheritance of the power of the triforce, but only after one of the possessors die, or the goddess considers it necessary, there would be a new Zelda born who obtain the power of the triforce. I don't know what that would imply, it just popped in my head and I couldn't shake it off so i wrote it lmao

I doubt this was his desicion. I have heard many theories about that but they all are just "This Idea is cool, thus it must be true." (Which to be fair, it is definitely cool)
One possibility is that other incarnations of Ganondorf have risen when there is now living Zelda within the Hyrule Royal family, meaning one of the three chosen is not present, and without the threat posed by Ganon/Ganondorf, the spirit of the hero isnt needed to awaken, and thus only one of the three is present and the curse not activated.

Yeah I've also been theorizing it. If their tradition spirit is strong enough Ganondorf could rule again and Link would have to convince the Gerudo female warrior that following this man is wrong and will bring their destruction of they don't turn their back on him
I don't really believe, that Ganondorf came first and transformed into Ganon. You see, in my head canon it is that Ganon is the true name of the Demise, who, as we know, will look different, depenidng on the era or who looks at him. I believe that his true form is that of a giant, feral boar. Because of dark rituals, performed by Twinrova, Ganon is bound to Ganondorf, but Ganondorfs mind represses the demon, so he keeps his gerudo form. The demonic bond gives him immortality and magical abbilities (what makes him basically a warlock). As soon as he loses consciousness, Ganon takes control and transforms their body into a human-boar hybrid. The proportion of boar decreases depending on how strong Ganondorfs subconscious excludes the demon. Maybe I'm talking bullshit, maybe not. Only time will tell
I'd like to see a game where the lone male gerudo isn't the big threat and he joins links party of heroes (think chrono trigger or secret of mana)after being thrown out of town, because his own people think he might be the reincarnation.
Here is a thought - What if the origin of the Gerudo came from Link's original Love Rival, Groose? The Curse of Demise could have latched onto Groose's negative emotions towards link born from jealousy as a catalyst, and caused the whole "Man born once every 100 years" thing. What if, The Gerudo king isn't always Ganondorf, in essence, because the malice needs time to build up to be strong enough to trigger a ganondorf to be born? So, like, A Ganondorf could be born once every 4,000 years, but in the other 39 times, a Groose king is born? Each more malicious than the last, until the demon king's curse is strong enough to rise again to attempt destroying the world, kinda thing. Seems like a demon king strategy to you know... pit the hero against his former friend? Rival?
This falls in line with my theory! I think Ganondorf is possessed by the evil spirit of Demise, and would otherwise be benevolent. Demise was the fallen hero of Lorule. Him and his armies came through a crack in the ground to Hyrule, that is his canonical origin. But in Link Between Worlds, when we fall through cracks in the ground, we enter Lorule. In Lorule, they have people that seem to be the opposite of Hyrules people. Zelda is wise. Her opposite is Princess Hilda, whose royal family destroyed their Triforce to stop the wars. That only made things worse and plunged Lorule into chaos, and its denizens transformed into monsters. Links is courageous. His opposite was Rafio, who was cowardly and ran away from battle. Lorules triforce is depicted as inverted, the point downward instead of upward like in Hyrule. Where else do we see that image? On Demise sword. Demises sword also has a spirit in it, Ghirahim. The Master sword has Fi. When Demise died and cursed the spirit of the Hero and the blood of the Goddess Hylia to reincarnate until he wins. But what about demise? Why didn’t he resurrect in his own body? I think that’s because his body isn’t from Hyrule. So his soul reincarnated into his bodys opposite, Ganondorf. Let’s remember they all had opposites from hyrule/lorule. It would make sense that demise, king of demons, firey red hair, would reincarnate into Ganondorf, king of the gerudo.

Even if they don’t say or do anything that proves it, as long as they don’t do anything to make it impossible, it will forever be my headcanon.
I was going to write a short story about the birth of Ganondorf - probably the one from Oot, but I'd cover the mystery as a whole. It's just, my writing plan has changed drastically since I had this idea, which wasn't prioritised all that high to begin with.
I always found it weird that it took hundreds of years for demise's first incarnation of ganondorf to appear. It doesn't make much sense and you'd assume it would happen only about 100 years later. Also is there proof that vaati and malladus came from demise?
Fi says that Demise is the “source of all demons”. That added in to the whole curse situation is why most assume Vaati/Malladus came from Demise. Also, Malladus is another “Demon King”, alike to Ganon.

My personal preference is that each one of them has a different method of reincarnation ... Zelda: Bloodline Link: Spiritual Ganon: "Curse" That would mean... The King of Demons isn't tied to be a Gerudo. And can be incarnated in any other tribe. It just so happens that Ganondorf is a pretty tough cookie. (And yes ... I want a game where the Ganon is a Zora and we can meet a, not necessarily evil, Gerudo King)

I always figured that King in Gerudo was "Mire". Ganon is also known as Mandrag Ganon, meaning Ganon of the Enchanted Thieves. Ganondorf is known as Ganondorf Dragmire. He is also known as King of Thieves. Because of this, it seems possible that Drag is Gerudo for thieves, leaving Mire to mean King and Man to mean enchanted.

From what I gathered is that no actually died in breath of the wild. Zelda was imprisoned for 100 years inside ganon to keep him at bay, ganondorf was sealed below for prolly 200 years but still alive, and Link was asleep for 100 years. So this was the first game that had no reincarnation.

I like to think the Ganondorf himself a man is not inherently evil as seen in the Wind Waker where he's simply is vengeful and wants to bring back his people and end their suffering however it is the curse of malice that turns him to Darkness which is why I think the triforce of power seems to always choose him even when it would be harmful to the world for it to do so such as twilight princess when it just appears on his hand in the divine prank

It would be interesting if there was a gannondorf that was reincarnated but then learned about demise’s curse. Maybe he even has link use the master sword to remove the curse from his soul to prove his ambitions are his alone. Heck he could even be guided by the spirits of kotake and koumae.
Another reason why we never saw any of the other gerudo kings is because the gerudo desert was not an explorable and in minish cap and four swords. We did get to explore it in skyward sword, but the gerudo did not inhabit the desert until after skyward sword
This got me thinking, when does Link *become* Link? How does the "spirit of the hero" work? Is it like Zelda and possibly Ganondorf, always present generation to generation but its purpose not fulfilled when Ganondorf isn't a threat? Does the body of the hero not get reincarnated until the spirit senses a rising threat? Is the spirit *always* in the body or does it possess/awaken when it feels a threat? The spirit of the hero has always felt the most ambiguous and unknowable to me and I think it would be interesting to dive into.
I stand by my theory that the Gerudo King that preceded Ganondorf in OoT was the Happy Mask Salesman, a red haired man of indeterminate age (remember Twinrova?) who has a Gerudo mask, is familiar with the existence of secret Hylian Royal Family/Sheikah magics/magical artifacts, knows how to seal/unseal monsters, collects magical artifacts, plays a piano/organ, knows how to traverse the Lost Woods without turning into a Stalfos, and whose plan revolved around getting Link to do all the hard work for him. And he's traveling to either avoid stepping on his successor's toes, out of fear of what Ganondorf would do if he interfered, or just as a retirement vacation. Either that, or maybe he's the Termina analog of Ganondorf in a world that doesn't seem to have any of the reincarnating trio (well, maybe the Three Goddesses, or whoever it was that created Termina, made the Hero's Soul into the Fierce Deity or something, going by appearances).
OoT Link did not get access to Gerudo town by completing the Trial though, you only get the Ice Arrow for that. OoT Link gets access (even as a male) by showing his prowess in battle and his worth by defending and releasing the construction worker. Nabooru hated Ganondorf, so it makes sense that when another strong fighter, strong enough to beat several powerful swordswomen and shows his good intent by putting his life on the line for other, to be allowed access. And this should have been brought back in BotW, the girl disguise for easy access and a battle trial for Link to show he's worthy to walk these streets without having to hide himself like his predecessors did.
Maybe the first lot of Ganondorfs were sheriffs of the Gerudo Ranch back in the day (or maybe Groose's son was the first Ganondorf, since ya know, Ge-ru-do are supposed to issue from him.)
I think so, because the fact is the first male gerudo was set up by koume and kotake to be born in gerudo tribe. In ancient time, when gerudo got arrived in hyrule for the first time, the twinrova use them to breed the reincarnation of evil king ganon My theory is koume and kotake need ganon's unlimited dark magic so they can get this dark magic source easier than using difficult sacrifice ritual. We know that koume and kotake want to live as long as they can, maybe forever. And in order to do that, I think they need so much dark magic and they could get it easier if they raise ganondorf as their own son
I think everyone make a big mistake... The phenomenon of male gerudos and the one about Demise's curse are two different things. It just happened that Demise reincarnated as one of those special gerudos.
Demise is sealed inside The Master sword... Ganondorf,Vaati,Bellum and Mallard and even all monsters(only ones ,others like the non-malice monsters)are creations of Demise,but apparently Ganondorf have most malice inside than the others,maybe this is why is the main encarnation of The hate of the demon tribe.

I think that what happened is that they gave birth to him as one person, that of course being Twinrova.
Ganondorf being created doesn't work since he's the reincarnation of Demise. Reincarnation is born, not created.

the way i see it, ganondorf is always ganondorf because he selfishly clings to his power, where as link and zelda humbly pass on their divinity, hence why previous gerudo kings arent reincarnations of evil. but this is a wicked cool thery.
Well in most of the cases, Ganondorf actually didn't properly die. He's just too tough of a cookie to give up on his existence.
This is sort of how I rationalize it. Ganondorf is just so angry, bitter, stubborn, and resentful, that in all his existence he’s only properly died and been reincarnated once.

The moment you mentioned Ghirahiem, something dawned on me- what if he and Death Sword from Twilight Princess are one and the same, just that in TP he's decayed due to a lack of malice? They both are the swords of the King of Evil, and it would make sense for Ghirahiem to want to serve his master again as a weapon.
That's an interesting idea. Although there's nothing substantial to say it was Ganondorf's sword. It could have been, but there are other explanations, like an executioner's blade becoming haunted after one too many kills. I like the way you think, though :)

I really like the theory that Groos from Skyward Sword, is the FIRST Gerudo. It's just something intresting to think about.

I think, given his red hair, he is the precursor not to the Gerudo, but the Wind Tribe. Considering he couldn't have the surface after Link, Zelda and the other Humans migrated there, maybe he departed back to the skies for a place to govern. He knew about the skies obviously. This way, he could still have a Grooseland away from Link and Zelda's reign.
From what I can tell, Zelda isn't a reincarnating figure normally, and only the original Zelda from Skyward Sword was the mortal incarnation of Hylia. The other Zeldas are just bloodline descendants.

It's a weird situation, because if the holders of the triforce are always in balance as Ganondorf said, it would imply that there's only one person that can have that power at a time (unless they consciously pass it to someone else as Ganondorf did to Zant). That would then mean that it _could_ be passed on in generations, not necessarily following the "rules" of reincarnation of our world, but each mother would have to die to pass on that power on to their daughters. So, to keep the balance but also keep the bloodline and the royal family place, there would have to be some kind of curse that killed every generation before meeting their descendants. Alternatively, the generations don't have the linear inheritance of the power of the triforce, but only after one of the possessors die, or the goddess considers it necessary, there would be a new Zelda born who obtain the power of the triforce. I don't know what that would imply, it just popped in my head and I couldn't shake it off so i wrote it lmao

I doubt this was his desicion. I have heard many theories about that but they all are just "This Idea is cool, thus it must be true." (Which to be fair, it is definitely cool)

One possibility is that other incarnations of Ganondorf have risen when there is now living Zelda within the Hyrule Royal family, meaning one of the three chosen is not present, and without the threat posed by Ganon/Ganondorf, the spirit of the hero isnt needed to awaken, and thus only one of the three is present and the curse not activated.

Yeah I've also been theorizing it. If their tradition spirit is strong enough Ganondorf could rule again and Link would have to convince the Gerudo female warrior that following this man is wrong and will bring their destruction of they don't turn their back on him

I don't really believe, that Ganondorf came first and transformed into Ganon. You see, in my head canon it is that Ganon is the true name of the Demise, who, as we know, will look different, depenidng on the era or who looks at him.
I believe that his true form is that of a giant, feral boar. Because of dark rituals, performed by Twinrova, Ganon is bound to Ganondorf, but Ganondorfs mind represses the demon, so he keeps his gerudo form. The demonic bond gives him immortality and magical abbilities (what makes him basically a warlock).
As soon as he loses consciousness, Ganon takes control and transforms their body into a human-boar hybrid. The proportion of boar decreases depending on how strong Ganondorfs subconscious excludes the demon.
Maybe I'm talking bullshit, maybe not. Only time will tell
I'd like to see a game where the lone male gerudo isn't the big threat and he joins links party of heroes (think chrono trigger or secret of mana)after being thrown out of town, because his own people think he might be the reincarnation.
Here is a thought - What if the origin of the Gerudo came from Link's original Love Rival, Groose? The Curse of Demise could have latched onto Groose's negative emotions towards link born from jealousy as a catalyst, and caused the whole "Man born once every 100 years" thing. What if, The Gerudo king isn't always Ganondorf, in essence, because the malice needs time to build up to be strong enough to trigger a ganondorf to be born?
So, like, A Ganondorf could be born once every 4,000 years, but in the other 39 times, a Groose king is born? Each more malicious than the last, until the demon king's curse is strong enough to rise again to attempt destroying the world, kinda thing. Seems like a demon king strategy to you know... pit the hero against his former friend? Rival?
This falls in line with my theory! I think Ganondorf is possessed by the evil spirit of Demise, and would otherwise be benevolent.
Demise was the fallen hero of Lorule.
Him and his armies came through a crack in the ground to Hyrule, that is his canonical origin.
But in Link Between Worlds, when we fall through cracks in the ground, we enter Lorule.
In Lorule, they have people that seem to be the opposite of Hyrules people.
Zelda is wise. Her opposite is Princess Hilda, whose royal family destroyed their Triforce to stop the wars. That only made things worse and plunged Lorule into chaos, and its denizens transformed into monsters.
Links is courageous. His opposite was Rafio, who was cowardly and ran away from battle.
Lorules triforce is depicted as inverted, the point downward instead of upward like in Hyrule.
Where else do we see that image? On Demise sword.
Demises sword also has a spirit in it, Ghirahim. The Master sword has Fi.
When Demise died and cursed the spirit of the Hero and the blood of the Goddess Hylia to reincarnate until he wins.
But what about demise? Why didn’t he resurrect in his own body?
I think that’s because his body isn’t from Hyrule. So his soul reincarnated into his bodys opposite, Ganondorf.
Let’s remember they all had opposites from hyrule/lorule.
It would make sense that demise, king of demons, firey red hair, would reincarnate into Ganondorf, king of the gerudo.
That does sound like an extremely reasonable idea, though it is not currently canon (even if every sniff of evidence is there).

I have done so much research into canon and other very valid and plausible theories to have this idea. It makes sense and fits like the last piece of a puzzle. Even if they don’t say or do anything that proves it, as long as they don’t do anything to make it impossible, it will forever be my headcanon.
I was going to write a short story about the birth of Ganondorf - probably the one from Oot, but I'd cover the mystery as a whole. It's just, my writing plan has changed drastically since I had this idea, which wasn't prioritised all that high to begin with.

I always found it weird that it took hundreds of years for demise's first incarnation of ganondorf to appear. It doesn't make much sense and you'd assume it would happen only about 100 years later.
Also is there proof that vaati and malladus came from demise?
Fi says that Demise is the “source of all demons”. That added in to the whole curse situation is why most assume Vaati/Malladus came from Demise.
Also, Malladus is another “Demon King”, alike to Ganon.

I always figured that King in Gerudo was "Mire".
Ganon is also known as Mandrag Ganon, meaning Ganon of the Enchanted Thieves.
Ganondorf is known as Ganondorf Dragmire. He is also known as King of Thieves.
Because of this, it seems possible that Drag is Gerudo for thieves, leaving Mire to mean King and Man to mean enchanted.

From what I gathered is that no actually died in breath of the wild. Zelda was imprisoned for 100 years inside ganon to keep him at bay, ganondorf was sealed below for prolly 200 years but still alive, and Link was asleep for 100 years. So this was the first game that had no reincarnation.

I like to think the Ganondorf himself a man is not inherently evil as seen in the Wind Waker where he's simply is vengeful and wants to bring back his people and end their suffering however it is the curse of malice that turns him to Darkness which is why I think the triforce of power seems to always choose him even when it would be harmful to the world for it to do so such as twilight princess when it just appears on his hand in the divine prank

It would be interesting if there was a gannondorf that was reincarnated but then learned about demise’s curse. Maybe he even has link use the master sword to remove the curse from his soul to prove his ambitions are his alone. Heck he could even be guided by the spirits of kotake and koumae.

I can’t help but think of Lawrence from Office Space.
Another reason why we never saw any of the other gerudo kings is because the gerudo desert was not an explorable and in minish cap and four swords. We did get to explore it in skyward sword, but the gerudo did not inhabit the desert until after skyward sword
This got me thinking, when does Link *become* Link? How does the "spirit of the hero" work? Is it like Zelda and possibly Ganondorf, always present generation to generation but its purpose not fulfilled when Ganondorf isn't a threat?
Does the body of the hero not get reincarnated until the spirit senses a rising threat?
Is the spirit *always* in the body or does it possess/awaken when it feels a threat?
The spirit of the hero has always felt the most ambiguous and unknowable to me and I think it would be interesting to dive into.

I stand by my theory that the Gerudo King that preceded Ganondorf in OoT was the Happy Mask Salesman, a red haired man of indeterminate age (remember Twinrova?) who has a Gerudo mask, is familiar with the existence of secret Hylian Royal Family/Sheikah magics/magical artifacts, knows how to seal/unseal monsters, collects magical artifacts, plays a piano/organ, knows how to traverse the Lost Woods without turning into a Stalfos, and whose plan revolved around getting Link to do all the hard work for him. And he's traveling to either avoid stepping on his successor's toes, out of fear of what Ganondorf would do if he interfered, or just as a retirement vacation.
Either that, or maybe he's the Termina analog of Ganondorf in a world that doesn't seem to have any of the reincarnating trio (well, maybe the Three Goddesses, or whoever it was that created Termina, made the Hero's Soul into the Fierce Deity or something, going by appearances).

OoT Link did not get access to Gerudo town by completing the Trial though, you only get the Ice Arrow for that. OoT Link gets access (even as a male) by showing his prowess in battle and his worth by defending and releasing the construction worker. Nabooru hated Ganondorf, so it makes sense that when another strong fighter, strong enough to beat several powerful swordswomen and shows his good intent by putting his life on the line for other, to be allowed access. And this should have been brought back in BotW, the girl disguise for easy access and a battle trial for Link to show he's worthy to walk these streets without having to hide himself like his predecessors did.

Maybe the first lot of Ganondorfs were sheriffs of the Gerudo Ranch back in the day (or maybe Groose's son was the first Ganondorf, since ya know, Ge-ru-do are supposed to issue from him.)
I think so, because the fact is the first male gerudo was set up by koume and kotake to be born in gerudo tribe. In ancient time, when gerudo got arrived in hyrule for the first time, the twinrova use them to breed the reincarnation of evil king ganon
My theory is koume and kotake need ganon's unlimited dark magic so they can get this dark magic source easier than using difficult sacrifice ritual. We know that koume and kotake want to live as long as they can, maybe forever. And in order to do that, I think they need so much dark magic and they could get it easier if they raise ganondorf as their own son

The phenomenon of male gerudos and the one about Demise's curse are two different things. It just happened that Demise reincarnated as one of those special gerudos.

Ganondorf,Vaati,Bellum and Mallard and even all monsters(only ones ,others like the non-malice monsters)are creations of Demise,but apparently Ganondorf have most malice inside than the others,maybe this is why is the main encarnation of The hate of the demon tribe.
