I agree, and I find it hard to believe that she did not leave a trail as to where she was going,or who she had been talking to online..I was shocked when I read that she hopped into the tow truck like it was no big deal, and yes I have no doubts at all about her accepting a ride at the crash site..

Speaking from experience, I had a very similar issue with a sibling & my reaction was no where near Maura's. I've never been catatonic in my life. Something traumatic happened to cause that level of shock. Kathleen has always maintained that there was nothing out of the ordinary about that phone call. Her husband stopping at a liquor store after she gets out of rehab sounds like par for the course as far as that relationship goes.
It is a major coincidence that Maura has a complete break down shortly after Petrit is hit by a car less than a mile from her job isn't it? She calls a body shop the next day, and her old man shows up with 4 grand the day after a major snow storm. Why the need to get rid of the car all of sudden?? None of her friends, including Kate who had dinner with them, said they mentioned anything about car shopping. Isn't there store footage from the liquor store that has not been released? Could that show the Saturn was already damaged before she left UMASS?
The reinstatement fee makes no sense for all the reasons you stated. What it does do is mis-direct away from the real reason why Maura was up there. I think the family knows what compelled her to leave. I don't think they know exactly where she was going or what happened to her, but I think they know the truth behind the break down, whether she hit Vasi or not. They probably have no problem floating this speeding ticket theory for that reason.
Btw, nicely done on the idea that Maura moved her car for a snow ban. I was trying to wrapped my head around why she would be out driving that late. I would love to hear your thoughts on if Maura did hit Petrit, why Fred would lend his car to her the next day to buy alcohol and go drink in a dorm.

@@ProsecutorsPodcast This is from Reddit, but the OP pulled it from her phone records. If you can get access to them you could confirm this. I was wrong about the next day it was on the 7th, 2 days after the Vasi hit. It is interesting to note, that this call is before she smashed her father's Corolla, so the call would not have been related to that.
2/7/2004. A call is made from Maura Murray's phone to Reliance Auto at 43 Belchertown Road, Amherst MA. Reliance Auto, which has its own autobody shop, specializes in selling used cars that have salvage titles. These vehicles have been previously totaled out by an insurance adjuster due to a crash.

I think people with multiple personalities do some sort of catatonic thing..where they'll zone out and become sort of unresponsive when they are switching from one personality to another and often times what causes them to switch is when they are faced with some kind of news that is upsetting--because the multiple personalities is a coping mechanism in itself--so whatever trauma they are dealing with can be too much to handle and the situation is "handed over" to a different personality that is better equipped to deal with the particular problem. Throughout this whole story, I have wondered if Maura may have had some type of dual personality disorder.

A previous video in this series said she had taken three birth control pills. That implies she had recently had her period and had started the birth control drug three days ago. I wonder if she had neurological issues linked to her menstrual cycle? I had a friend who had some odd, episodic seizures that happened during hormonal shifts. This sort of thing could explain the supposedly accidental 'shop lifting and some other things. My friend was frightened about what was happening in her body. If Maura had similar feelings, perhaps she needed to get away to sort through her feelings.

I have a sister who is an alcoholic and if she had called me and told me that, I’d be angry and venting. Not cationic. Cationic would be shock of just maybe hitting someone….. Anger would be my reaction. Did the accident happen after the call? Maybe she was driving angry and distracted?
If I hit someone I’d stop. But if I drove off I’d be so scared & quiet that might look cationic…. She just ran away from a potential life ruining accident b/c she ran off instead of stopped. The RN in her really wasn’t instilled into then and she just got off probation that may have had a line in that too. But I wonder if her Google searches show she was looking at accidents of that certain accident?

Been listening closely, great podcasts. really enjoy them. As of her being so upset the night she left work, (I think the hit and run theory was pretty cool and a different look but not buying it) I think the obvious reason she was upset was she was cheating on her boyfriend and felt guilty about it. She Had feelings for this person which is where the guilt came. Her and Bill had been fighting and we're on the outs (she also was told by her sister that bill was cheating on her and to move on) When she got to work which was a desk job, she had time to sit and process her life at the time, the accumulation of everything and it was the reason she broke down. That's just my opinion.

Wait if she got in an accident in her dad’s car few days before, and didn’t have a valid DL? She’d of been charged at the min and arrested if she was drinking. Here in this state, if you’re pulled over w/out a valid DL, you can’t drive the car away. You usually are taken to precinct to be processed & released & car impounded unless someone picks it up before police are done.

When I was in my 20’s and stressed I always went away. I always went someplace I knew I could be alone and stew. I didn’t go drink myself to sleep each night but she’s not been sleeping, maybe intoxicated, it’s cold out, and I can see her letting someone picking her up but I can also see her not thinking clearly, and the adrenaline rush is coming down, lack of sleep, maybe she thought hiding in woods was good idea. But in 7° at night around 7:30pm that means she knew she’d be in there for 12 plus hours? That I don’t believe.

  • @AmericaFirst1963
    @AmericaFirst1963 Рік тому

Man, you are spot on Brett!! There is virtually no chance her sister’s actions would have put her into that kind of psychological state. First of all, Maura drank regularly herself. Secondly, Maura knew of her sister’s struggles for a while. You can get very angry or saddened when you find out your family member has relapsed or refused treatment.
But you don’t go into a catatonic state. That results from trauma. Maura clearly had just experienced trauma.
And clearly, Fred is referencing something very serious Maura did when he makes that appeal. And Fred SHOULD have told the truth of what Maura admitted to.
Personally, I think Butch told Maura where she could get cell service. Maura was clearly impulsive. She was also very stressed and, at least partially under the influence. Factor in the “fight or flight” response and Maura’s fear of a DUI and the ruining of her Nursing Career. I think Butch told her how to get to Beaver Pond and/or North Woodstock. BUT, he would have told her to get there by Bradley Hill Road. and then pick up 112. You’ve got the Rick Forcier sighting 5 or so miles away. I think Maura wanted to avoid being seen while going towards North Woodstock. I believe she collapsed and died off the side of Rt 112 within several miles of that destination. Her remains could be near Beaver Pond, which is about 9-10 miles from crash site. Maura was an elite athlete/runner and got close. But the temperature and wind, combined with the alcohol she consumed, caused her death. She could have also suffered an injury from running on very uneven roadway. She also could have been dealing with a concussion…all things that could lead to death. I don’t believe those areas 7-10 miles away have been exhaustively searched.

Bruce mcKay was not off duty at the time. He had been called to an emergency call north about a man who previously had his firearms taken away but the police believed they didnt get them all and were going back out. One minute after mauras call he changed his mind and decided not to go to the call then went dark. He was off shift at 11pm that night. There is more to the story as far as the police logs being blacked out as well.

Also most believe Bruce's reasoning for going could be related to him just being a general hard case in relation to traffic violations. That story about McKay going "dark", implying he had some evil plan, is just an urban legend. That never happened.
Besides McKay, from Franconia, had no jurisdiction on Havernhill, he had his own town to patrol, plus from listening the dispatch he would have known Smith had that call. McKay might have been a jerk, but there is zero evidence connecting him to Maura.

MM's life is a duplicate of mine at the same age. *Almost an exact duplicate.* Right down to running track, getting caught driving over 100mph, for no reason too, that cop was PISSED, my dad had to get me out of jail, and I also switched from college to nursing school. I'm not even kidding. I didn't have the fraud, didn't do military school, but the drinking, stealing (wasn't caught tho) petty items I could pay for, school issues, worried about being pregnant, the escaping to somewhere private, away from family and friends and boyfriend. I would drive to other states and rent a hotel to get away and think & drink. If I didn't have time to go far, I'd get a room across town. I know what she was going through, I really do. I had a driving record that would make you cry. I stole even when I had the money to pay for petty items. I was an honor student acting insane. I was crying for help, but no one answered. @@ProsecutorsPodcast I already talked to Bill about this. I thought it was concluded that whatever the police discovered they took possession of (before) bill even gained access to Maura's dorm.
I have found that this sort of thing is very common in this case. When someone is telling a certain story,, they convienently leave out pretty important details or even worse twist the details to fit a certain narrative.
Here are some other quick examples:
      1. Maura took her homework so it shows she was coming back
Wrong - Maura had in her possession a drug definition guide and a pharmacology textbook (both would be needed for clinicals) . Maura did not have her psychology book and other books from her classroom portion of her schedule that would require you to keep up with homework.
      2. Maura was happy at UMASS (I just heard this one on this episode of your podcast)
That seems to be a whopper -- Talk to Maura's other sister Kathleen and if Kathleen is being honest she will probably tell you the complete opposite of what Julie is saying. Maura talked to Kathleen just about every day.
      3. Maura just didn't have time to unpack her dorm room from winter break:
This is a beauty that came from folks whom never even went inside Maura's dorm room. No spinning here.
Most accounts you will hear of from the folks that actually entered Maura's dorm will tell you the room appeared packed up.
      4. Maura became catatonic because of hearing her sister relapsed
Anotherwhopper ----- in the weeks/months leading up to Maura going missing, I think if any Murray sibling that the family was concerned about it wasn't Kathleen but Maura
      5. Maura went to take care of her suspended liscense
That gem is right up there with the liquid found splashed inside Maura's car was likely antifreeze/coolant
Some of these people on this case are so full of shit, it would be comical if not so sad

Maybe she just went to NH to study. She had a lot going on, and could’ve thought that she’d be better off by herself without distractions.

I still don’t get why this case is so “famous”? I’m not into True Crime, so to speak, more fascinating about the minds of these certain kind of murders. I don’t get it why are ppl so obsessed w this particular case? I don’t remember it being a big TV think like Laci P. Did it blow up into a national media? In 2004 I admit I was raising kids & racing a lot up and down coast on sailboats but I usually, when hearing a case like Laci or Casey A, I pay attention. Is it b/c she vanished w/in 10 mins?
Has anyone really searched around the woods, like a S& R team for her body? Remember The Levy case? When she went jogging in DC and no one could find her? Then years later they find her right where she was suppose to be? The only reason I hesitate about that is it was 7° outside. But she was just in that wreck & was drinking…. Idk

Was there a POSSIBLITY SHE LOANED HER CAR AND ANOTHER DRIVER? S someone else borrowed her car and hit Patrit?
Why didn’t airbags go off or other damage show IF her car WAS involved?
Was she using meds to stay awake in a rigorous program affecting driving? So much this girl was up against
All the pressures of her life. Very sad she had to resort to lying and then covering up mistakes. She was destined for greatness but could not cope in a healthy way.
Maybe she was pregnant - birth control is NOT 100%. Maybe she planned to terminate and that was the “death in the family”

Maura's license wasn't suspended in MA. So why would MA cop have noted that?

No way in hell this woman was driving and wrecking w/out a DL. If she did hit that guy, no wonder she was stressed. I don’t believe she didn’t have a DL b/c the wreck w dad’s car and the cops would of taken her in. Especially if she had an unpaid ticket and fee. That’s crap. I agree she’s a bad driver, but in 2004 in my state I get pulled over they see all my tickets. I have a lead foot and they could see mine in Maryland, NC, Florida. If she was convicted of speeding and didn’t pay, it would show up on that cop’s computer. If she’s not convicted and hasn’t gone to court yet, then it wouldn’t be on her driving record. But my driving record follows me all over USA. I know🙄

I know one thing if he did do it then she is in one of the body’s of water near or around his house. He doesn’t look like the type to dig a hole but Brett you still could be right. We don’t know If she went into the woods at another location but if you think about the tracking dogs and the seven teams of dogs they had later. It is unlikely. They would of picked her scent up. Your right though she hadn’t slept properly in days. She is drunk and just cracked her skull on her windshield probably going 55 or 60. She was in no shape to take a hike. Guaranteed. If she did then she isn’t far and I figure the dogs would of found her.

If she was pregnant why would she drink? She’s studying fetal alcohol syndrome? IDT she was preggers. Also has a sister who is an alcoholic. Last thing I’d do if I found out I was pregnant was go buy a ton of top shelf booze and a crappy box of wine🙄

I would have to respectfully disagree on the timeline being insignificant. If witness A is telling the truth. At 7:37 Cecil is on scene. Butch hops out of his bus to run in to tell barb to call the cops when he can see them there already. The dogs track her to the middle of the road in front of his house. He asked her if she wanted to warm up she had already been without heat for 5 minutes by the time he showed up. She is drunk her blood is thin and you get cold quicker. She may have declined at first but when he pulled off and was backing his bus in. I think she changed her mind and that’s when the Westmans seen a flash of activity at the trunk. And atleast went to hide from the cop car she could see coming down the road with its cherrys flashing and in barbs interview she says after he told her to call the cops he said he was going to help her. It would be interesting if we could luminal his bus or who knows. If he left her on the bus and she had taken a box of sleeping pills with the alcohol she drank and then hit her head on that windshield and she laid down on that bus and took a nap while butch helped search. She could of passed away just from that. He might not of killed her. Maybe he helped and she died from the head injury and going to sleep. It looked like she hit hard on that windshield. That’s another thing had she passed out driving from the box of Tylenol pm and the box of wine. Is that how the accident occurred. There are just so many options in this case but she didn’t have time to do a lot from the time it happened until the time Cecil showed up. She doesn’t have a license in that state. She can’t talk to a cop. Butch offered help. She may have declined at first but when he pulled off and went down the street and turned his bus around in the middle of the street to back it in. She grabbed her bottles and back pack and ran to that bus door when she seen that cop coming and turned her charm on butch and he let her get on that bus and hide. I know it. Her sister said they had their guard down up there and they trusted people so is a girl without a license in that state and drunk going to turn down help from a bus driver who looks like he likes to have a drink or two himself. I don’t think so. Especially when you only have minutes before your arrested.

After 4 unnecessary and superficial episodes that were obviously poorly researched, what’s the point of carrying on...just cut your losses! Unfortunately you’re not moving the case forward...just trying to establish your own UA-cam business on the back of a case that’s already been flogged to death! Pretty pointless- short of getting Fred, Sarah Alfieri and Kate Marcopolis (the keys to this case in my view) together in a room to be questioned about the weekend before the disappearance (particularly the party), or the police releasing the files, or a confession, this case will never move forward to a resolution in my view.
