- Sky News host Paul Murray has called out the revelations that a speech writer for NDIS Minister Bill Shorten is being paid a two-year contract of $620,000.
“The prime minister is paid $500,000 a year, a backbencher in the parliament above $200,000, minister above $300,000,” Mr Murray said.
“Does anyone believe that a speech writer for a government department should be paid $300,000?”

I have heard Bills speeches; I could definitely do a better job though. Part Time. That said, I did not go to the same private school as his current speech writer. In fact, I did not go to a private school. So the door is not open.

In the article on ABC regarding rorts in NDIS it was stated it cost 42 billion last year to run it and they also stated 5% of 42 Billion is unrecoverable rorts that is alot of social housing and tax payers dollars.What are you doing Bill.

$300K per year for a Level 4 contractor to Government is dirt cheap. Defence were paying far more than that for a Level 2 contractor that had to be trained to do their job by a public servant. A public servant however would be far cheaper but that would bolster the Public Service and take revenue off the big companies supplying contractors to the Australian Government.
So he and others in Government are incapable of writing their own speeches. I do not want to hear a speech written by some professional spin doctor but by the person delivering it. They either know their subject or they don't. If not then they need to find another job.
