    Really enjoy your vlogs and the content you put out. Very informative and I like the detail you cover in rigs etc... One area that you don’t cover is the spots you’re presenting your bait upon within the lake and why you are choosing this particular features. Is this something you are purposely avoiding or can you cover this in future vlogs? Anyway, keep up the great work and I’m looking forward to your future ones!

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  5 років тому

      Hi thanks for watching and taking time to comment. I don’t give away my spots out of respect for other people fishing the lake. If everyone knew the productive spot then they probably wouldn’t be productive spots anymore. However your comment has inspired me to make a video about choosing the right spots within your swim and the different types of spots and areas you should be looking for. It’s something that can really improve your catch rate as I think the spot is more important than rigs, bait and tackle put together! I’ll definitely be doing this video in the coming weeks👍

    Simon nice vid! Why you don’t use chod link hooklink material for the curve in stead of shrink tube? The only thing is you have to tie it to your soft hooklink material.

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  4 роки тому +1

      It's another way to do it but I find chod material goes out of shape and needs more work to get it right. Shrink tube is just easier and more convenient 👍

  • @shrek7271
    @shrek7271 5 років тому +1

    I know that the Withy pool rig has been around for years and has caught alot of big fish. However there's many pop up spinning types of rig today and do you think that by extending the curve of the hook with the shrink tubing, you are infact closing the gape of the hook giving poorer hooking potential ??

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  5 років тому +3

      Dezzy1ball hi thanks for your comment. I actually think it’s the opposite with this rig if tied the way I do it. I know in the past the trend was for the “c” shaped tubing to be really tightly steamed so it locked around the fishes lip. I didn’t like it this way as I thought like you did that it closed the gape. My version of this rig just follows the curve of the hook making the gape even wider. This year alone I’ve caught 6 x 30’s and a 50 so I’m pretty confident in it👍

    • @shrek7271
      @shrek7271 5 років тому +1

      @@SimonDewCarpFishing hi Simon, I did notice that the curve of your shrink tubing wasn't as aggressive as some I have seen in years gone by, and obviously with the track record of the rig it's certainly doing it's job the way you tie it. Looking forward to seeing more of your vids.😀😀

I’d still tend to look for clear areas in amongst the weed but this rig will sit nicely over low lying stuff. For silt I’d suggest slightly lengthening the rig and use a helicopter setup so the lead can sink into the silt and leave the rig sitting nicely on top 👍
