There are new transfer rumors every day, but there are no details, apparently Edu has learned lessons from previous years, and they operate in secret, and when they release information, it is the information they want.
I don't understand the "Edu needs to go" narrative; some are saying if he doesn't sign anybody this summer - which is for the birds as we will sign somebody - and some just are saying it regardless. But I can't square that circle, he's built our best squad we've had in the last two decades, has made some tough decisions around established stars futures and in the last few years has barely missed in the market. For balance, he does need to sell better (though last summer was better) but even so I find the narrative baffling.

I don't know why some folk allow themselves to get so worked up about their perceived shortcomings of a transfer window when it is still so early. Personally I will reserve any kind of judgement on Arsenal's transfer dealings this window until after the window has closed. In the meantime I won't allow myself to be frustrated by the unknown as it is a futile exercise that will only serve to dampen my mood. A successful window is signing Fofana for me, with "someone" versatile added to the frontline that Edu/Arteta finds interesting so Saka can be rotated (Jesus could play a role on the right too).
And sales for Eddie, Reiss & ESR or Viera at least. 👍
I don't mind letting Partey run his contract down and have him help for the handful of games he'll be fit for. 🤷🏻♂️
I suppose we do need to sign a #2 keeper at least even if Ramsdale just goes on loan. 🤔

Not panicking yet but this summer hasn’t been the greatest so far. For now I’m holding out until after the Euros end but I hope it gets a little more exciting after that. Saying that I realize the market isn’t amazing either. No obvious signings like Rice available.

I didn't know why people were expecting anything to be done before the end of June. We had to loan Raya rather than buying him to keep us compliant with financial regulations for this financial window. I expect early July will be fairly busy
I reckon we are waiting for for the euros and Copa comps to finish and then we will do deals. Imagine how crazy fans will find we sign a player and he ends up with a big injury during the current comps

I know it’s a big “if” but if the same team that played the majority of last season gets a fully fit and inform Partey, Martinelli, Jesus and Timber back do you think that is enough alone to go further than last season? Hop they don’t buy for the sake of it if their main targets aren’t available
Calm as possible here. The Euros and Copa need to finish up, the players may want a holiday, and then it’s time for transfers.

You don't sign for the sake of signing...panic buying is NOT going to get Arsenal anywhere except for regressing.
Edu will act at the opportune time, for the right players...putting pressure on the club doesn't really make sense...no wonder we don't work for the club...otherwise, it will be a mess🤞🤔

Lokonga is a failure for the recruitment team. It's fine to admit that. However, those who use this to beat Edu and Arteta down cannot tell me that this isn't agenda driven. Not all signings will be hits and we certainly can't be looking at signings in isolation when measuring the recruitment teams success.

Normally agree with a lot of your takes Tom but, calling Arsenal savvy for including a obvious sell on clause on a youth player they lost because they penny and dimed on the contract and then lost out on millions in sales that Chelsea eventually got the better half of is oxymoronic, especially considering we bought Lokonga and Tavares(players of similar age) and made losses on both. It’s just bad business all around when it comes to this. Makes me think about how maybe Omari thought Arsenal weren’t even good enough to create a market for him like Chelsea have with clubs like Ipswich etc. We really need to up our game when it comes to the loan market and also identifying better young players that we can flip for profit rather than losses. I don’t think it’s easy but i think it’s something that immediately needs to be addressed and I think it all tied back to the lack of respect towards Arsenal in the transfer market.
How the hell are this version of Chelsea getting more for a young player who’s barely even featured for them than UCL competing Arsenal can for Lokonga who’s played quite a few games for us and pretty much a whole season for Luton and did decent? Really waiting to see what we make on our sales this summer, need to see some good money coming in because I think we aren’t hamstrung like we were before.
Could you give some extra details about the “penny and dimes” please. What did we offer in comparison to Chelsea?
@@TheGoonerTalkTV whatever we did it was evidently lesser than £3000 a week or 156k according to capology that have mentioned his wages to be around the £3000 a week(not sure how precise these reports are). Chelsea decide to pay his 156k for a year? And now sell him for 22m, do you see the penny and diming now? Even if these reports aren’t precise they must be in the ballpark through extrapolation, and it’s clear Chelsea were able to spot a clearly “flippable asset” and followed through with resounding success despite the state they’re in. Our sell on clause is like a consolation prize is all I’m saying, not really “savvy” but the bear minimum I would hope.

If my justification is not reliable then do let me know, otherwise it’s clear to see Arsenal bet wrong on this one. Heck even if he wanted 20k per week he’d be worth +20x what we would’ve paid him in wages if we sold him like Chelsea have. Not really sure why you conveniently chose to ignore the evidence I bought to the table with sources presented in favour of a rhetorical question in poor faith that doesn’t carry the discussion anywhere. I’m just regular joe and not a journalist but this doesn’t seem like savvy business from Arsenal at all to anyone trying not to look at the silver lining in every decision they make, but hey if that seems savvy to you we can agree to disagree on this one.
Arsenal didn’t bet wrong, he was convinced to go Chelsea. Arsenal wanted to keep him, he didn’t want to stay and couldn’t be convinced even if we offered the same money.
Heads up, you don’t just pay what players want at that age. The message is not the right message.

@@TheGoonerTalkTV yeah I find it all a bit odd, particularly mid week (although Sunday I find really strange) as the couple are assuming their guests are able, and willing, to take time off from work. I remember before I retired my last job I only got 20 days, so they were very precious particularly if I wanted to actually go away a couple of times. Add to that of course that today the weather is beautiful and tomorrow it isn't, a missed opportunity 😀, anyway enjoy it sir 👍
Oh nearly forgot, watched an excellent interview yesterday with Simon Jordan and Theo Walcott, well worth a watch.
Theory mentioned something that ties in with the discussions about youth development, initially something I always agreed with, he played in the reserves at 14/15, so not age football but up against seasoned pros, essentially men. A much better development route than playing age restricted football. I always thought the old system, youth team (U18's, what I used to referee 😉) and reserves is better than U18 and U21 but hey ho.
Essentially the point he made that I found most interesting was how the manager's philosophy filtered down through the age teams. He felt this actually sacrifices the development of natural for knowing "the system". He said when he was coming through at Southampton the emphasis was more geared towards development of individual's natural talent and ability rather than having to learn a style of play that may ultimately supress what was natural. Quite interesting, definitely worth a listen, he comes across really well and seems like a really sound guy.
It’s cheaper for people to have weddings on those days and people know their guests will come so I do understand it.

Marko Grujic was signed for £5M and sold for £10M not that much but you were wrong in terms of backing your claim. It’s not that hard to read it on the internet which either means there’s some form of illiteracy or you mistakenly read it thinking it would back the claim you made lying to the audience
No I wasn’t. If you read the point they said we it’s ridiculous we can’t sell above £15m which is what I was providing for a similar quality player in age and position. Grujic also played 51 games on loan for Hertha. It wasnt about profit otherwise id have used a different example.

@@TheGoonerTalkTV did you forget what you said or something. You mentioned Lokonga not being sold for a lot of money as he was signed for about £17.2M. Then you thought of a player that yes in terms of position, number of loans, etc was comparable but not comparable in terms of the main argument which was the price. I’ve mentioned he was signed for £5M and sold for £10M instead of signing a player for £17.2M and selling for £10-15M which is a loss hence why I accused you of lying to your audience cause the evidence you provided was false
’ll get for them go to football observatory as it’s a website that judge’s players market value based on science. All of that combined comes roughly to £73M and thanks to Swiss ramble for Arsenal’s financial accounts you subtract the easiest form of profit of the players by 2 year’s total loss cause we want to know how much arsenal can spend split into amortization which is roughly £24.2M. Then multiple by 5 to get the budget cause most player contracts are 5 years which is £121M. In amortization you add the transfer fee + wage fee then divide by 5 to get the value Arsenal will put in their accounts. So if arsenal were to sign Isak they would not only go over the losses in the accounts but they’d be short of a CM & RW. There Arsenal need to be smart this window and also explains why they didn’t sign and haven’t signed Raya yet cause the financial year for football clubs end on June 30. £27M+(85,000*4*12[to get his yearly pay])=£31.08M/5= £6.216M which is £1.184M below PSR which is risky

You thought of a player similar to Lokonga in terms of position and number of loans but the reason the point isn’t good is because the conversation that started this was your audience bringing up the fact arsenal are willingly selling him for less than what he was bought for and what I assumed you’d do is give an example of a club that has bought a prospect for a similar amount but sold him for less than what they bought him for and the club is still relatively fine but instead you stated an example of a club that bought a player and sold him for a profit (Marko Grujic)not a loss(Lokonga) hence why I said you should stop lying to your audience. I don’t know what’s so hard to understand from what I said there’s not indirectness or external implementations to extract from this it’s a blatant fact. I understand we can’t sell him for at least £15M cause Arteta and Edu are poor when it comes to decisions such as those e.g. when they could’ve loaned out players such as R.Walters, Fabio vieira, and/or cozier duberry out on loan as they weren’t accustomed to the PL or when they let Mavropanos go to Stuggart then a year later we’re in need of a CB and he could’ve easily filled in I can go on but that’s not to say he’s done all wrong he’s a good coach but not a manager
