    I had my 2021 Beta 300RR rear shock fail at the connection to the linkage. The shaft of the shock broke where it threaded into the clevis. It has almost 50 hours and been lowered by a Beta dealer. Beta USA gave me a brand new shock free of charge!!! I just paid the labor for lowering and putting my xtrig on the new shock by the shop. It was over two years out of warranty!! Who thinks KTM, Husqvarna or even Honda would do that!! I am Beta for life from this $1000.00 move!

      I mostly tend to agree. Beta has been pretty good to us with parts and such over the years. I was just a tad bumed about our 390. No one else around here rents Beta so I did hope for a little help. That said they may not have been able to help if there were no parts regardless. They also seemed to not like us using our own engine builder over the local dealer.

    I feel like newer Betas are given so much power but has a flow restrictor. A lot of 23s are blowing from the bottom(big o hole). Idk if it’s lack of balancement or terrible material because the block seems good
    Edit: do dirt bikes need balancement😂? The crank isn’t getting that much torque

      My guess would be poor bearing quality. I remember around the 13-14 era they had some big issues with main berrings failing and punching a hole through the block. Like everything right now it may have come down to having to use a different brand due to supply and now its screwed them. That said usually we see far better customer service from Beta than KTM. Some years of bikes will always be better than others especially with tons of changes. That's why I have held on to my 19s!

    looking at your cam shaft , you have lot of brown deposits which show that your oil was not enough detergent ..... A common problem leading to a failure , when it colmates the small oil jets, messing too the high pressure by pass, etc ... Thanks for the video, it was interesting ;) Mine is around 300, changed oil plastic gears by new ones but made a mistake, i put both sets on table and had to order ne ones again;, because it was impossible to see difference in between the brand new ones and the old....I changed them at 280 h, by precaution, because each time I checked every 50 hours, they were in perfect shape. These composite plastics hate humidity and water. As long as transmission oil doesn't have them, they last forever. That's why the usual recommendation to always stock bike with fresh oil takes all its sense... And going back from ride with hot oil and parked in a relative humid place won't help too... Anyway BETA 4s rocks !!! have good rides

    I have 428hrs on my 2021 beta 430rrs never checked valves just oil changes and air filter changes! I did the steel pump gear kit at 203hrs and the gears still looked new but I swapped to steel anyway for peace of mind! I didn’t notice any difference in power or rotational mass maybe there is a difference and I’m not fast enough to feel it 🤷 either way bikes are reliable beta does use to thin of wire imo as well and I’ve had to fix broken wires by the steering neck but it’s all simple stuff!

    You and your mate Meeker might rethink your 300 hour intervals for 2 stroke rebuilds now

      Nope never had a two stroke do it. Not even the Chinese gpx tse250. The 300rr has over 2k miles on its top end. Compression is still within tolerance.

      @@pharettface Its not the miles its the hours .Two stroke pistons crack the skirts .You might still have good compression as the piston will crack below the rings.Your playing russian roulette

    if the steel gears are the answer and they don.t add much to the overall weight , or reciprocal weight - then it's not really your fault that they were not used as standard ;;;

    ouch, expensive. How much do you think it would have been having that place do the regular maintenance before the catastrophic failure

      I charge $200 labor to do the pump gears and I think the kit is around $200. $400? But mistakes happen

    No way man, the failing gears are not your fault. Beta shouldn't be using them, period! Open ANY 20 year old KTM RFS motor and the plastic oil pump gears will be mint! For whatever reason Beta and KTM on their modern bikes are using some kind of shit plastic requiring owners to swap them out like they're supposed to be consumables. I call bullshit and a big FU to Beta and KTM for doing this. I have several KTM RFS bikes that have in no way been babied and the plastic oil pump gears in those are a non-issue.
    I put just over 200 hours on my 2021 Beta 500RR-S and although I had replaced the oil pump gears they were not in the best condition when I did so. Not as bad as yours but still had some wear/chipping. Ultimately I think the material somehow didn't get caught in the filters and took out the top end and the balancer shaft due to oil starvation. I brought the bike in to the dealer in March and it wasn't repaired until September! Yeah the factory shutdown not being able to get parts bullshit is only happening once to this guy. I had planned on selling the bike in the spring when it was worth more and well that didn't work out. Then there's the bill... I really feel bad for you because yours was almost double mine. I was beside myself when the invoice came and the cost of the piston kit was $550 and the gasket kit was $300. Yes, $850 just for the piston and gaskets. That's the last time I'm putting $2500 into a two year old bike with 200 hours. Goodbye Beta, you suck. Oh yeah, your suspension is crap too. Seriously, 18 year old OC WP forks are so much better than the garbage that comes on the non race edition Betas. The shock isn't too bad but I could feel it fading when it got hot. Anodizing? What anodizing? And don't even get me started on the crap electrical connectors.
    Now I also mentioned newer KTMs. My friend with a 2018 250EXC-F (with under 40 hours total) had the plastic oil pump warp enough that it no longer mated with the other gear. Result: instant catastrophic head damage that also took out the cams and a worn cylinder/piston. Another big FU to KTM for screwing the consumers. Don't tell me they can't make durable plastic gears because I have several sets of them that are nearly antiques and still in perfect condition.
    I wouldn't recommend a Beta unless you enjoy wasting time and money on a bike that is fragile (yes I said it, it's true) and that you won't be able to repair in a timely manner when it eventually fails. I bought my 500RR-S to replace my 2005 525EXC because I thought it was getting long in the tooth. Turns out an 18 year old clapped out KTM (with Factory Connection suspension just for the record) is a better bike. Who knew?

    Why beta charges over $10,000 for a bike yet insists on plastic gears... its a sham.

      I really don't think it's a sham. I suspect there is some engineering reason behind it aside from just weight or cost. That said the nylon gears do last quite well.

      @@pharettface I appreciate your optimism. Do other manufacturers use plastic gears? Why does beta sell metal gear replacements for $200? This is a dual sport, not the race version. I see it as another upgrade gimmick after spending 11 grand on a dirt bike. btw, I blew a gasket on my dr350, lost oil and seized the motor. After sanding the melted cam journal and putting it back together, the bike has been running great. $10 for the gasket, $1 dollar for the sandpaper. I wish you were as lucky. I still might buy a good used Beta, but I'm definitely keeping the dr.

      It’s normal. It’s just a maintenance thing like timing belt on a car or changing top end after so long. If you go byob buying from Beta you can order your Beta with steel gears if you want. It’s in the manual. I changed to steel oil gears too just because I’m lazy and don’t want to change it later. It’s just a maintenance item.
