I do think it matters when a character is changed. Because it's mainly for political reasons, if Samus is trans then you ruin the idea that women can do masculine things and still be women. I don't like this and neither should you
oh yeah let me be more specific: it doesn't violate the zelda lore if they make zelda/link a different race/gender/sexuality/whatever because they're reincarnations, not the same person, but it DOES violate the metroid lore if they do it to samus. i personally don't care much about the metroid lore, so for me it only really matters if the game is good. but for metroid fanatics i can see why they'd be angry if they actually made samus trans.

@@PaulvonOberstein they consider any words that describe alternative modes of being that are visually similar to them, but nonetheless different, to be transphobic, because they want to erase the differences and roll them all into being trans. this is why "femboys are trans" and "femboy is a slur" in the minds of the activists
Or when someone sees a tomboy who likes doing typically masculine things, or who says that she's always felt like "one of the boys", and they start saying that "she's an egg". God, I hate that shit.
All of the talking points by the alphabet mafia are nonsense. "Gender and sex aren't the same" but they have to change sexual characteristics to match their gender. They insist on using female and male (sex classifications) for the one they feel like, but are not. Gay is same sex attraction, but it's transphobic for gay men to not be attracted to trannies. Nothing about it is logical.
Dude, I remember other girls in my prog town making fun of me and bullying me for being a tomboy up to the moment they cut their hair, started calling themselves Trans (and were still wearing as much makeup and dresses as always), and then they said I was the one bullying them.
I feel bad for ya. I am in solidarity with you and other tomboys who got shat on for being who they are (much cuter than the normal gals). I love how with Naoto her enteir arc is self acceptance and yet that causes people to scream shes trans when thats literally the exact opposite meaning
They can’t accept that someone would _not_ choose to go down that road. Likely one they have or trying to go down. They want someone, something to enable/tell them what they’re doing is good/right. The outcome of that story bugs them because it makes them self-reflect on whether they should/shouldn’t and they can’t handle it. Even worse if they’ve already taken some permanent steps.
The thong about modetn trans is that they chase the unattainable feminine body. However I think we will be able to make homunculi bodies for many uses when we can reliably colonize the solar system.

My husband and I joked about it basically being a one sided affair. Sidon is just “to nice” on the creepy scale. He wants Link to be his bro and Link is like “Wtf get back in your Pokeball you weirdo”.
Also Link was spending time with his sister when Sidon could barely talk. He kinda helped raising him. Link is like a ln older brother or cousin to him and they're still peddling that notion. Oh well. It's not like that fetish is rare.
Despite Link’s more cutesy depictions (which is done solely to appeal to all boys and girls in the games’ audience), he fulfills the traditional masculine roles of warrior and protector in every game. He doesn’t begin his adventures seeking glory, instead having it thrust upon him as a consequence of his own motivations. Sure, he’s a chosen hero in some iterations, but that only comes about due to the trials he overcomes. Link fights to protect his village, his family, his kingdom, or the woman he loves, usually a mix of all of these. He becomes a legendary hero by performing his duty and fulfilling his role in Hyrule’s society. Link does not and cannot fall into a progressive queer framework because to do so would undermine the values and messages at the series’ core.
Exactly this. Link is a *protector*, a traditionally masculine thing, and has always been. Although I personally hate how Link turned into an anime trap for fanservice during a single sequence of the game and as a result got fetishized by certain people online (2017-2018 was a dark age, also Link’s like 17 to make matters worse), he’s still at his core a defender and a fighter, and never escapes that role. He isn’t some uwu femboy and I kinda hate how he’s depicted as one when he’s realistically just a bishounen type character and nothing more.
As a gay man I find link extremely attractive but obviously my personal lust towards a character does not mean the character is gay. You can have a head cannon and enjoy characters in your own way but that doesn’t make it cannon nor should it.
Thank you! I get so annoyed seeing people do this. I think the one that has been annoying me the most recently is people putting Piccolo from Dragon Ball into sexual relationships with humans, especially human women. Piccolo is an alien slug man. When my sister saw the trailer for the previous game a few years back, she immediately assumed that they had turned Link into a girl this time around. So whatever is influencing people's impressions, it isn't just the clothes.
Every Otokonoko or /cm/ thread on 4chan has at least one anon calling them all "eggs" and closeted trans and immediately get told to leave the twinks alone and endgame themselves.
As I said in chat: Link who beats up all the monsters, saves the princess, eats massive amounts of foods, skydives and climes every mountain. Can't get much more manly than that! As you said Dev, he is courage personified and in Tears of the Kingdom clearly in a relationship with Zelda. The Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom Zelda universe is more "mature" and it fits that you'd see stable relationships between men and women as a basis for creating functional families in that timeline. Be it the Zora heirs or the Hudson family as well for example. Not everything is political, not everyone who possibly could be trans, should be. It's fine if some things and some people are, but repressive tolerance is a hateful ideology and leads to oppressive violence when taken to it's logical conclusion.
To the femboys out there: You are rare flowers and I'm glad you exist. Please don't stop existing. Sincerely, a bisexual guy that looks like he's escaped a bara manga.

This "Every Character in recent fiction is some flavor of rainbow sexuality" phenomenon, is, I think, a direct result of the "Fujoshi" girls of the early and mid 2000's - The type of chick who would dress exclusively from Hot Topic and jumped on the Twilight bandwagon. I know SO MANY of these women who would ship Naruto and Invader Zim characters together (mostly gay pairings), and now that these women are 30 (We're old now, cope), the ones who never grew out of it are now working for these rag "Journalist" outlets and writing this tripe.
I agree with you as a former fujoshi (I loved Hot Topic, but hated Twilight). I grew outta it and seeing people who haven't is really sad and pathetic.
As someone who was 20% that girl (was too lazy and poor to get too into it but I read a lot of fanfiction) I completely agree and it makes me want to die. 😕
I find this viewpoint hilarious considering the game points out multiple times how women view Link as very attractive and how he has a relationship with Zelda
That because most of them never actually played the game or read game lore/context, all these weirdos do, is find characters to turn trans or gay for their twisted desire or trans agenda.
@@ICantThinkOfAFunnyHandleThat’s just the motte. The bailey is they want to label more people gay so they internalize it, become gay (or engage on some part) and create more options for partners. Items funny because in the 90’s/00’s people would say “that’s gay” as a pejorative (effeminate or dumb) a lot, and they got mad at that. But now they’re saying “that’s gay” as a way to inject themselves into the conversation/flirt/lust, even if the person/character’s sexuality is ambiguous or stated/implied as straight. They complain about “misgendering” but somehow saying someone is gay and hitting on them when they’re not is somehow okay. Because there’s no way to “breed” more gay people other than gaslighting people into thinking they are.
You can always tell who’s trans by how sterotypical they are dressed. Transwomen I’ve seen dressed in pink rainbow tutus with bows in their hair, trans men are often in suits where is really isn’t fitting or have neckbeards if they can’t pull off the suit.
As a Catholic, the Joan of Ace hurts. If they knew anything about her they would have realized that she was a teen girl who was sent be God himself (according to Catholic beliefs). She preferred to wear dresses historically, she burn at the stake on trump up charges.
I read Mark Twain's novel of her. He tried his best to base it on history. Reading it was an amazing experience. And what it portrayed was the ultimate show of feminine strength and power. Yeah, she cut her hair and wore trousers for battle. Everything else about her was hyper-feminine without being diabetic. Joan as a trans is just pure malediction.
Exactly. She only wore armor in battle, and iirc asked for a dress when incarcerated. They ended up not even getting her for that, because it didn't make any sense.

Jay Exsi, a youtuber I really like, went from demonstrating no feminine traits to out of nowhere becoming trans and he describes himself as an "egg." Doesn't change my opinion of his content, but it does demonstrate how susceptible to social contagion people can be.
I don't believe for a second that there were no real trans-people involved in this. I had entire debates with trans-people over shit like this. For example, the youtuber Pyrocynical cross dressed as multiple female characters from movies, animes etc. and all trans-subreddit dwelling crazies were screeching in the comments how that obviously means that he is trans (he isn't, he isn't even lgbtq or really a crossdresser, he was just doing a favour for his girlfriend). When I talked with them about that, they were really quick to admit that they would like it if there were more trans-people in this world, because they would have more people like them etc. Basically wishing a condition on someone that will cause this person pain and confusion, just so they can have another "group member". I also once heard about a gay crossdresser, which was constantly told that he was trans by multiple trans-people and nearly transitioned, only to have a mental-breakdown at the last second and realize that he does not want to change his sex. This "egg" bullshit is of the same caliber. A term to describe someone that isn't "aware" of their condition, used frequently to gaslight people into believing that they are trans. Imagine a person in a wheel chair getting excited to see someone getting hit by a bus or trying to get them to jump off a building, because they revell in their condition and want more people with the same problem as them. And yes of course, not all trans-people. But I still believe there is a fair share of trans-people, who are narcisstic and constantly need to be validated. Some of them probably being supremacist, believing that being trans is better than not being trans. Also, I personally would care if they changed Link into being gay or etc. For me, it's just an aspect of the character. Of course this wouldn't make a Zelda game bad, I would just find it weird to play the game, since the character has lost one of his prime characteristics. Maybe I have a bias, because Zelda games are my childhood and I kind of wanted to be Link when I was little, idk. However, the change would still be unnecessary and unwarranted. There wouldn't be really a reason to do it besides an ideological one.
@@xxkankala1671 Bro the whole "egg" concept is creepy as heck. Let the person come out by themselves if they are trans, which they may not even be. Stop this weird psuedo grooming stuff
I'd argue that sexual preference has never been a trait of Link's character to begin with. To me, it doesn't matter if Link swings one way or another, Link is still Link to me. Gender non-conforming or not.
You mentioned how being trans is a condition that brings pain and confusion to a person. That pain and confusion only comes because these people lack information about themselves and are in fear of what would happen if they were explore there gender. They are afraid of being hurt by family and being abandoned for not being considered normal. That pain comes from people not being accpted by people around and feeling forced to play a role that they don't feel associated with. Itd be like a straight person being called gay just because they don't have standard characteristics of a straight person.
Yeah, it's all so tiresome. As an androgynous male living in conservative country, it's those tropes from anime and games that helped me open up a bit and realise that I can just dip into feminine side a bit without rejecting male one. I'm still a man, I just stopped giving a fuck about gender norms. Also, thumbs up for Catherine ost in the background.
It is crazy, gender norms, while based on reality, are not sedimentary. People can deviate from them, always could. But now people are treating gender norms as rock solid foundations that deviation into a diffrent gender's norms means you have to now be that gender... it is amazing how sexist they have become.
There has never been a greater argument against pornography then showcasing the results of what it does to your brain like this. " careful Timmy if you watch too much pornography you'll end up being a massive ball of cringe"
I think the greater issue being these people are socially inept. They lack the table manners of keeping their sexual thoughts "indoors" but online echo chambers enable their eneptness.
Instead of telling kids they'll grow hairy palms or go blind, just tell them they'll spend the rest of their lives arguing with strangers on Twitter over fictional characters having sex with their friends. 😱
I think you cut off the most important quote from that Eiji Aonuma interview: "As far as gender goes, Link is definitely a male, but I wanted to create a character where anybody would be able to relate to the character.”" As one of your last pictures showed, Link is also canonically Christian 🤣 AND, while he may wear women's clothing every once in awhile, he certainly falls into the masculine role almost perfectly.
The official Twilight Princess art depicted Link as particularly manly compared to the rest of the franchise I've always thought. He's got a stoic facial expression and actually looked like he was swinging a sword around.
Aonuma's also stated that link's kind of a weird guy, but he's absolutely a guy - he doesn't really care about being considered a pretty woman when he's crossdressing, and he doesn't really care about having to crossdress, he just finds it surprising. link's basically the apex of unflappability
The anger and confusion over the Sidon thing is telling. They're mistaking affection for romantic love. As a child, Sidon idolised the awesome knight that was (maybe) dating his sister. The other Zora tell you that he's always bragging about his BEST FREIND, Link. He commssioned a statue of them saving the kingdom together. Sidon is written as a boy that is super proud of, and seeking the approval of, his older brother. Also, how can anyone hate Yona? She's cute AF.
When it comes to the Link/Sidon relationship, I can't help but think of this C.S. Lewis quote: “Those who cannot conceive of Friendship as a substantive love but only as a disguise or elaboration of Eros betray the fact that they have never had a Friend.” - C. S. Lewis
also interesting that in countries where "the message" isn't enforced 24/7, the number of LGBTQWERTY youths is very low. only ones act like this are chronically online people, almost as if there are certain contagion zones that convert them.
It's amazing that after decades of complaining that gender roles are too constrictive and that there's a wide variety of being a man or a woman, they go 180 degrees and say there's an infinitesimally narrow definition of a masculine man and a feminine woman and everything outside those two is automatically trans.
because they discovered they can trap people into their ideology forever if they convince them to take body-destroying hormones and surgery. in order to grow their numbers, they need to force propaganda onto non-conforming teens who are willing to give in.
"Tails is trans because he's voiced by a woman." By that metric, why stop there? Every single young boy in cartoons is trans because they're almost all voiced by women, because options for voicing young boys are limited. You either go with a female voice actress as that's the most convenient option, or you go with a genuine boy and often end up with a stinted delivery because they're too young to know how to act well (Tails in the Adventure games have this at its best and Heroes arguably has it at its worst; it's also a confirmed case of a voice actor having to be replaced by their own younger brother because their voice deepened too much to be reprised for the role).
Interesting case with The Land Before Time, where Littlefoot is sometimes voiced by boys and sometimes by women. Some have voice cracking because the kid is just getting too old for the role.

On the rare creation of a new LGBT character they dont go out and surport it by buying the product.
Not just taking what's "yours" it's about upending and getting the allegiances of things that you don't care about so they can know that others will be exposed to their ideological slop, for everything is political and if everything is political, everything shall have my ideological bent, slant and stance. And if they don't, if they refuse, if they play both sides as even, equal and akin, portray flaws on both sides, refuse to take sides or actively promote another ideology then it cannot be allowed to stand, every rock shall understand and be under these people's influence, there shall be no book you can open, no device that you can turn on, no place where you turn your sight that doesn't feed you the ideology. If YOU want to consume it (even if they don't cuz they brokeass), it shall have spread to you their ideology precisely because otherwise, most likely, you're out of reach to them nor you trust them or wanna hear them preach on about their ideology. But the company you're buying a product from, they got your trust and they should abuse it to spread their worldview, even if that makes you reject your stance and not buy another product of them again. They think that there won't come products that won't go against them or just be neutral.
There's definitely something weird going on here with how some people are very puritanical about sexuality and fetishization in media. But Only in the ways they disagree with. When it comes to stuff they like and do agree with, they are completely fine with it being Sexy and easy to fetishize. The Furies who call people porn addicts for wanting sexy women in video games, when their twitter page is filled with fury porn is just one example of this hypocrisy I can think of. I'm sure there is much much more.
Does it ever bother anyone that the same people that say, "Gender stereotypes are stupid and not real," are the same people that say if someone is slightly feminine if they are a man they MUST be trans? They are also the people who dress in the most gender stereotyped clothes in the world.
I've been saying it for a while. If someone is a femboy, they can't just be a femboy, they HAVE to be trans and will eventually come out of their "egg". Same for tomboys. Overall though, its funny how porn ridden that crowd is and how much it influences their judgement. It has gotten to the point where I almost just assume trans people were either abused, or became addicted to porn.
Finally, a good fucking comment that doesn't make me want to commit Roblox over braindead discourse of how "PeOpLe ArE pUsHiNg WoKe AgEnDa On OuR vIdEo GaMeS" In my personal experience, the people who are saying "x is trans", or "x not dating y is homophobic" are typically people are aren't trans or gay themselves. True trans activists are the ones who want people to be themselves, they don't call Femboys like me eggs that are in the closet, and they don't get outrage over petty stuff like this.
Even if I was any of the identities they support I'd be so completely insulted. they don't care about you as a person but as a commodity, a product, a means to an end.
I meet a few of their "sacred cow" criteria (female, bi), and you hit the nail on the head. The goal isn't even normalization like Dev claims; if that were the case, they'd leave us alone and let us be normal. Instead, we get... _all of this bullshit._
I love how Link is portrayed in BotW and TotK. He's a typical, to the T brave knight who risks life and limb for his kingdom and for its princess. He quite literally threw himself into a black abyss to save Zelda despite minutes ago being mortally wounded by Ganondorf. He's an honourable hero you can't help but admire. But something about seeing this honest, steadfast hero being torn down to be a gay twink all because he had to cross dress that one time really bothers me and I hate it.
Little fun fact about Vivian I vaguely remember; in the european spanish manual for the game it is stated that Vivian is in fact a girl, but because she was way prettier than her sisters and they were incredibly jealous, they convinced her that she was in fact male in order to psychologically abuse her. Sadly I don't have a manual to confirm this and I'm not paying 200€ for the OG game just to read the manual.
Considering the Bridget debacle, taking someone who was abused into their identity and claiming that as an ideological win seems par for the course for these freaks.

There is a sense in which all video games are political. Or at least, all stories. Any story must have some kind of narrative, with themes and through-lines that guide it. These themes are in turn formed by a set of values, and to some degree represent those values. In this sense, every story and its values are linked, but stand on their own, and don't necessarily represent the current zeitgeist. Attempting to subvert and replace the values these beloved stories are built upon is then akin to heresy from within the perspective of the story.
@@harrygenderson6847 You conflate politics with morality and virtue. Politics is not the only thing that exists and it certainly is not the most encompassing.

My sisters are all very obsessed with all things pride related and will assign sexuality to all characters even when it doesn’t really matter. They all use they/them or he/him for Naoto and ship her with Kanji as a gay couple. This misses the point of both of their arcs, which basically mirror each other. Kanji is either a straight or possibly bi man who likes cute things, but dresses and acts like a tough guy and is attracted to Naoto before and after it’s revealed she’s a girl (kinda like Li Shang in Mulan). Part of his arc is to accept that even as a man, it’s okay to like typically girly things and it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re gay. I understand people wanting representation, but don’t feed into stereotypes to claim it. As a woman, I feel more empowered by a story like Naoto’s than one about a totally stereotypical woman. As for Link, he’s kind of meant to be a blank slate, so I get people imprinting themselves onto him, but putting words into the mouth of a protagonist who can’t speak is kinda icky. He gets enough of that from all the characters in the game lol. If he seems gay to you, that’s your head canon. If he’s trans to you, whatever. All I care about is cutting the grass and breaking pots for money 😉
I will always say this, Link has alwas been a bishie aka a pretty boy. Even his official art (Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and even the newest ones) he looks really attractive (cute and handsome). Just because he's a pretty boy that doesn't make him gay.

Poison's entire situation is extremely convoluted and based largely on playing a game of telephone with various statements made almost two decades after Final Fight's release that don't really mesh with all the known evidence. The common reference to Poison being changed from a woman to a trans woman was in "All About Capcom" interview with Nishitani (the game's designer) who gave the story of changing Poison after the release out of fears of backlash from the West. But this is not entirely accurate with what happened in the localization. The Japanese manual for the SNES port in fact does label Poison as a Newhalf so if it was a post-release thing then it was as early as the first Japanese SNES port (approximately one year after the Arcade release in Japan) and Poison has been established as trans from that point forward (in Japanese media). I think that the confusion is that in the US release Poison and Roxy were LITERALLY replaced with men, Billy and Sid, in the English release - they weren't retconned as trans specifically for the English release, they were cut from the game entirely. Also that there was a statement from Capcom USA saying it was tasteless to have your characters beating up women and was given the response of "there are no female enemies in the game" and when he brought up Roxy the designers responded with pointing out the character was a "crossdresser" but Capcom USA decided to replace the sprites anyway. I've heard that this is something in the book "Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered the World" first published in 1993 so it's the closest we've ever gotten to the release for the story but it doesn't really say anything other than "Poison and Roxy were already trans at that time in Japan and Capcom USA simply decided to replace them with Billy and Sid to prevent confusion." The exchange suggests that there probably was some official documentation that the Japanese team sent to the USA team and the USA team probably just didn't know what "Newhalf" meant. But the statement of it being something that didn't happen during the design process is also called into question when some of the concept art later came up and there's a note in the art labeling Poison's concept as "Newhalf" and based on most of the statements made it seems like that idea was always in the minds of the creators and it might even have been due to potential fear of backlash over hitting women but they didn't come up with a consistent answer. Various people involved with Final Fight have given conflicting answers on things, sometimes changing their own details. Likely it was something they had a brief but ultimately unimportant chat about during the design process and nobody really remembers it that well. The most recent statement was made by Ono where he seems to think the only regional difference is whether Poison is pre or post op. But people who directly worked on Final Fight have pretty much taken the stance of, "We don't know, decide for yourself." Some main bullet points: * it is likely that the decision was made out of a fear of offending people but from concept art to the Japanese releases it's always been something in mind. * Poison was canonically and officially referred to as such as early as the first Japanese SNES port. * The "replaced with men in the US release" is a misconception about Poison and Roxy being given full-on sprite edits to make them different characters. * Capcom's official statements have been conflicting all over the place.
So they made the game, corporate was nervous of offending the western market (because they have issues with depicting violence to women in media) and they then started to struggle to justify the characters to try to appeal to market in the hopes it would be a good excuse....😂 bruh I'd sooner say "fuck it we selling it in Japan until these guys want it" but ey, this is why I'm not in business meetings. I took their word on it anyhow, and I'm okay with Poison as a cross dresser or not, I like the look of the character and the fact they beat people up.
I went to a middle school play last year to support the local arts. There was a trans student amongst all of the young girls (they were ftm). When talking about it with my family, I brought up how this seems to be a post-covid thing since everyone was forced inside to consume algorithmic content online and not interact with anyone outside of their immediate family. And my family thought I was insane for thinking that way. Not because they're TRAs or anything. But because they didn't think that children being unsupervised online for hours at a time is a bad thing.
I swear, dude. If people can call others crazy for saying something completely reasonable, then this world is definitely going to Hell in a hand-basket.
Ftms are so sad. mtfs are among the most disgustingly fetishistic groups on the planet and are very irritating and obnoxious, but when you see an ftm 90% of the time she went through something horrific..
My young step brothers constantly watch garbage UA-cam shorts that are extremely random and highly inappropriate for their age and their father doesn't get a flying fuck. Some people are just bad parents.
If it's "yours", they want it and will do whatever it takes to claim it. If it's "theirs", you can't have it, and if you mess with it, it's heinous violence and you need to be stopped and deplatformed.
I'd say Dev did took a long time searching for all that femboy link hentai but let's be honest. Dev probably bookmarked so of those for future reference.
That one Twitter account dating way back is a prime example of malicious. Close to being evil but definitely malicious. And no, it does matter if Link is trans or not and I rather Link stays Link. Giving these freaks what they want is how things got this far and It's gonna keep getting worse because of goodfaithness that the freaks continue to take advantage of. I hate it.
I'm just gonna lay this out now because I feel like it gets a bad rap these day.. Shipping, on it's own, is harmless. If someone on the internet gets their rocks off by imagining two fictional characters in a relationship, whatever. It's a problem when they expect their headcanon to become canon and, in some cases, harass the creator when it doesn't.
Link is and always has been a dude, and this literally comes down to Japanese standards. Japan, in general, likes their male heroes slim, 'cool' and youthful. Making someone too muscly or 'manly' isn't a good thing, at least to them. Ike from Fire Emblem is a good example. When he got aged up for Path of Radiance, a lot of the Japanese audience complained that he looked like a 'gorilla', even though he's fairly 'standard hero build' by western standards. It didn't matter that Ike didn't even come close to western strong man standards like Arnie and Stallone, he was too muscly for a Japanese audience, at least initially. Link, meanwhile, is a typical Japanese hero and there's never any doubt about that IN Japan. Talk of him being a 'twink' comes entirely from western fetish communities who want to claim a popular character as 'theirs'.
In How to Train Your Dragon 3, DreamWorks had to remove Hiccup's beard at the end of the film for the Asian release. The standards are extremely high for women, too. Double eyelid surgery and skin whitening are largely popular. There may be romance manga similar to beauty and the Beast but with no prince transformation at the end. But if the story trope is flipped, and the girl so much has a scar on her face, it'll get fixed up in the story pretty quickly. And beauty standards in Japan are so wild to the point that it's practically illegal to even be overweight. Not even kidding, the government made a law to fight against citizens' weight gain called the Metabo Law. With that said... I have no idea how Mario is the most iconic video game character. Short, chubby, and facial hair? Now I wanna know if they also consider Luigi to be hot there like in the west, but Google won't tell me.
I care if Link is gay or a girl. I care if Samus is a transistor! These characters were not created that way. If you want all the rainbow bullsh@t in your game then make a new I.P. and don't hijack existing ones!!!! Good vid Devon!!! Thanks buddy!!!!
I like how you point out Midna in the Twilight Princess game as a romantic interest, because the Official Manga ( which was still ongoing until it finished this year ) literally confirmed TP Link and Midna are an item.
The hypocrisy never stops. It reminds me of how in the vocaloid fandom, there's an UTAU (yeah not technically vocaloid idc) by the name of Namine Ritsu, who is canonically an okama, aka cross dresser. I wouldn't know for myself having dipped out of the fandom a while ago but I bet he's already declared as trans.
yep! i see a lot of (no offense, but) people new to vocaloid discovering VIPPERloids of which Ritsu is one and claiming him as a transgender woman. there are other VIPPERloids who have interesting gender identities. i forgot their names, but one of them has black pigtails and heterochromia and the other has blue hair and glasses, they are hermaphrodite and genderless respectively. both look very feminine though. of course, these two also get claimed as non binary representation. the thing is, VIPPERloids (and other troll loids) often have unique or eccentric designs and lore because they are made as jokes, it's to make people go "no way! they made a crossdressing rocket boobs vocaloid?!" only to immediatly discover that nope none of that is official and they've been misled. the point is, it's not serious representation so why claim it as such. idk. sorry i wrote a bible under your comment lol edit: Yokune Ruko and Taya Soune are their names :). also, i made a mistake, Soune is an UTAU not a VIPPERloid, oops
A very funny side note on the Samus part is that there is an interview where Yoshio Sakamoto, the co-creator of the Metroid series, he said in summary "That the likelyhood of a Metroid game coming to the PS2 is as likely as Samus being a newhalf." I always think about that whenever the Samus brainrot takes hold.
I actually first noticed this in the harry potter community, when you first start looking at headcannons people have its the typical fans fixing plotholes and filling in blanks for unanswered questions, but it quickly devolves into the overtly sexual gay fanfics about how sirius is gay and in love with james who is bi and lily catches them making out all the time and lupin is the ultimate furry but pettigrew is always left out because he turns out to be a villain, and it goes on and on like that, i eventually had to unfollow harry potter stuff on social media because i got tired of everything evolving into gay porn, it gets old
People “forget” Tracer is a lesbian because it’s an online shooter with no story, and the few cutscenes (not even in-game) that exist I don’t think feature her girlfriend. It’s basically completely meaningless. It’s easier to assume straight because reality. It’s only when she’s featured in gay pride merch (or yelled at online) that people are made aware/remember.
I've always said that sexuality really doesn't matter until it's made into porn or hentai. Tracer from Overwatch is a Lesbian? Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of artists making her do any and every act. Does it affect her gameplay and mechanics? No. So why mention it? Oh, the grift, right. Doesn't really bother me people think Link is a Twink. Outside of porn it doesn't matter and isn't true. The truth is storywise, he's an unstoppable force that will kill anything and everything to fulfil his destiny.
No, Devon. That's a Bokoblin, which are a comparatively more recent addition to the Zelda world. They're basically mini-moblins. They mostly exist to be basic enemies so the much more classic moblins can be larger tougher threats, and so moblins have underlings they can comically pick up and throw at you. And Tears of the Kingdom even gave Bokoblins their own elite variant the Boss Bokoblin who act as leaders and can even force nearby bokoblins to use tactics and form up into formations. Super Metroid is not the original Metroid. In Super Metroid, they make it abundantly she's a woman because it was the third game and the cat was long out of the bag. Samus being a woman in the first place was borderline a joke. It was a last minute decision based solely on how funny it would be funny if the player finds out they've been playing a girl at the end. It's great that she's developed and grown into a much more iconic character. Heaven help us if the progs ever find those non-canon promo comics that were written before the reveal, where the writers seriously thought she's a man.
If you're talking about the picture at 8:17, that is indeed a Moblin, the artwork being from the original Legend of Zelda from 1986. Bokoblins weren't introduced until Wind Waker. If there's any confusion, its probably because the Tears of the Kingdom footage in the background shows him fighting Bokoblins.
@@ericriley1985 I was referring to the game footage. The drawing shown is indeed an OG drawing of a moblin, but his game footage shows combat with bokoblins instead of the current moblin iteration. It's like a rule to give Dev a hard time for his videos. He knows it's because I care.
To be fair, Mipha made the armor but didn't have the chance to give it to Link before she died and he had no idea what the armor represented (the armor being basically a proposal like an engagement ring), so no he wasn't really ever engaged to Mipha. She wanted to marry him, but it's unclear if Link ever even returned her feelings like that.
I am a feminine man and I get so sick of people trying to make me gay. I'm middle-aged, a modern adult, I'm comfortable with my sexuality, stop trying to force gayness on me. I just happen to be a man who only had positive female rolemodels, and abusive male figures, in my life so I ended up valuing feminine things over masculine during my formative years - thus making that a permanent part of my personality. Yet everywhere I go, people are convinced I'm gay; I'm sorry, my sexuality isn't policed by your heteronormativity. Our personalities are made up of a lot more than just our sexuality, no matter what the bigots have always wanted you to believe (whichever side of the argument they were on).
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz You completely missed the point, he's saying that because he's a bit of an affeminste twink man and people want him to be and, imply he should be gay but he's straight.

I've been talking with my brother about this too Representation stopped feeling like Representation the moment I realized a lot of these people screaming for it just wanted the thing they liked to be popular Why do they always go for traps, because people like traps and not them not realizing trying to change something into something its not won't make them like you in fact it makes them hate you more The Aerial thing proved it the most recently But at the same time Spider Verse did too by being a good original movie, diversity ain't the issue, making a good product is all that matters A story can have gay characters like the Last of Us 1 but Last of Us 2 Showed that maturity is respecting your audience rather forcing them to understand your plight, people focusing on the gay parts is underselling the good parts of the game, I'm not gay but even then I think Ellie had a decent life with Dina only to throw it all away, thats something not specific to the gay experience but people got mad the only two gay characters didn't have a happy ending(plus the joel death) and saw it as an attack against gays like there's no winning with these people so its best to not care about the fact they want this shit the way they want to view it
They go for traps because the only people who like the 'male crossdresser' trope are people too far long gone to put up any meaningful resistance to the trans shit. The only reason it doesn't really work is because people who like traps (closet homosexuals) are so attracted to the character being male that they will endlessly complain about losing their little boy to sexually obsess over.
This is exactly the same thing on how I feel about the Birdo character from the Mario Brothers Games. Unless they say otherwise: Just because a Male Character dresses up as a Female, Doesn't automatically mean he's Trans. (At Best he's a Femboy or Gender Fluid)
15:50 Yeah, there's actually something really weird about the whole Goron thing. They were allowed into the city in BotW despite being men (and yes, they're men, not "gender-neutral," they even say so in BotW), presumably because the entire race would have to be barred otherwise, they mine and sell ores valuable to Gerudo society, Gerudo wouldn't find them sexually compatible, or a combination of those factors, and yet one trying to get into the city in TotK is denied access. Granted, that _could_ just be because he had a male Hylian companion, but it's still weird this happened in the same continuity.
If there are no humans: Climate change will cease to exist Racism will cease to exist Capitalism will cease to exist [Insert]phobia will cease to exist. I think I just figured out their plans
Essay warning: You ever notice how when these regressives discuss and celebrate “trans representation in video games,” they really only ever talk about trans women? Think about it. Let’s say that the trans icons they constantly champion were actually trans. What would they be? Well, let’s bring up the most popular examples. Birdo from Mario: mtf Vivian from Paper Mario: mtf Poison from Final Fight/Street Fighter: mtf Madeleine from Celeste: mtf Bridget from Guilty Gear: mtf Samus from Metroid: They constantly push that she’s a trans woman, MTF Link from Legend of Zelda: As this video discusses, MTF Heck, I’ll even bring up the brainlets that superficially call pokémon trans because of gender ratio and design clashes (braixen, primarina, etc.) or just ones like sylveon where its color palette happens to match the trans pride flag. Guess what they do. 90% of the pokémon that they make as “trans icons” are feminine-looking pokémon that are predominantly male. So even with these ludicrous ideas here, they are still talking predominantly about M T F! *Note: lots of these pokémon are considered “fairy types” in the games. Ironic, isn’t it? But I digress. These are probably the most standout examples of trans icons in games that they constantly peddle out, and not a single one of them is a trans man, apart from when they push for Naoto being ftm. I’m sure if you dig deep enough, you’ll probably find some more trans man characters in gaming, but it’s very clear that there is a disproportionate ratio of trans women to trans men, especially in the eyes of these “activists.”
A quality essay, thank you. You forgot quotes around "trans icons" in the second to last paragraph, though. Are ANY of the examples you listed actually trans? Birdo/Vivian/Bridget are all otokonoko (crossdressers) in Japan, with the first two being just female rather than mtf in most Western translations. Fun fact: The obviously male character in BOTW that sells you the Gerudo clothes was also named Vivian in Japan.
@@chad_bro_chill Thank you very much. I’m glad you liked it. I did want to respond to some things though. Yeah, the “let’s say the trans icons they constantly champion were actually trans” part was supposed to be taken like “let’s assume that these characters were actually trans and not just crossdressers.” I probably could have worded that better. As for the rest of your comment. I left out the second pair of quotations around “trans icons” because a) I was lazy lol and b) I figured people would see my usage of the term with my previous quotation and put two-and-two together on how I was using it. I see what you mean with Vivian and… Vivian lol. To be honest, I didn’t know that much about Vivian. All I knew was that there was some controversy about the character, and I just… strayed away from it and never looked back lol. Bridget is _technically_ trans now. Lead developer of Guilty Gear said so. That doesn’t mean I agree with the decision though. Oh no. _Very_ much the opposite in fact. (whole ‘nother can of worms though) But if the artist wants to burn his own art, you can’t really stop his own free choice, right? _sigh_ Birdo afaik is trans. The Super Mario Bros 2 instructions describe Birdo as “a guy who thinks he is a girl.” Granted, Birdo is a weird case as Nintendo does a lot of weird things with her pronouns and gender and whatnot as I’m sure you and everybody else knows. In recent games, she’s called by she/her pronouns, but I can’t tell if it’s Nintendo retconning her to be an actual girl, or if they are secretly going that whole “trans women are women” route. It’s all very muddled. The Poison stuff is actually news to me though lol. I knew about them changing her into a cross dresser to avoid controversy, but I never knew that it only applied to Western games. Makes me curious what Street Fighter 5 (SFV) did with her story, then. I never actually read into it, sooooooo yeah lol. And, while I’m at it, here’s a fun fact for you: Poison’s English VA in SFV is voiced by Karen Straussman. Not only is she *not* trans, but twitter has actually labeled her as an anti-BLM *TERF!* Oh! Again, the irony. Chef’s kiss. Again, thank you for the reply. I’m glad to actually talk about this with someone for once lol. *Edit: Spelling/grammar corrections and other comments/revisions.
Cis being literally coined to shame people who don't have the regime's approved of mental illness, so yea, I'm all for saying "real women" or "actual women".
Wow, that Tails one is a contortionist level stretch. Almost all young boy cartoon characters were played by women in the past...because obviously if you use a real boy you run the risk of having like an Alphonse Elric situation where the English VA couldn't voice him in Brotherhood because puberty. Obviously to avoid that problem altogether you hire an adult woman to do a young boy voice.
And shows how creatively bankrupt they are. They can't write a trans character that is as beloved and iconic as Indiana Jones, Link, or Princess Lea, so they just attach themselves to other established characters and force them into the LGBT community and act like all the work has been done. It reminds me of when the advice to write female characters was just write a male character and change the gender around. This way you don't get bogged down by trying to make the character perfect and allows them to be human. It honestly was better advice than what we are getting now.
In a bunch of games too. Fromnamed characters like: Zelda, Malon, Saria, Ruto, Ilia, Midna, and Paya to random NPC women. Some female NPC in TotK hit on Link, got embarrassed, and then said he was too clingy when I kept clicking the option to “not forget” what happened, lol.
I think it’s probably a fake out given a number of details. Also, Bayo killed God in the first game, and rescued Jeanne from Hell. I wouldn’t take anything the game says as “permanent” seriously. They’ll make some excuse to reverse/contradict it 10s later.

They stepped on the wrong tail this time.
That’s why they want to make the character LGBT in identity: it gives them the opportunity to subvert the traditional archetype of the hero.

They ended up not even getting her for that, because it didn't make any sense.
the egg thing with the trans community always freaks me out, it feel so slimy and frightening god this is grooming to it's purest form
It’s convincing someone to modify their body. Grooming is temporary, transitioning is permanent, which makes egg cracking arguably worse than grooming. And then there’s always the “what if the child wanted to be groomed” oops I mean “what if their egg needed to be cracked” excuse.
Definitely a grooming thing. It feels so creepy, gross, and uncomfortable. It’s just psychological manipulation and degeneracy at its core.

Jay Exsi, a youtuber I really like, went from demonstrating no feminine traits to out of nowhere becoming trans and he describes himself as an "egg."
Doesn't change my opinion of his content, but it does demonstrate how susceptible to social contagion people can be.
@@Liberty_or_Ded that's disturbing. Just all at once he shifted?
So now your transphobic because of one person damn
@@xxkankala1671 Bro the whole "egg" concept is creepy as heck. Let the person come out by themselves if they are trans, which they may not even be.

The official Twilight Princess art depicted Link as particularly manly compared to the rest of the franchise I've always thought. He's got a stoic facial expression and actually looked like he was swinging a sword around.
Aonuma's also stated that link's kind of a weird guy, but he's absolutely a guy - he doesn't really care about being considered a pretty woman when he's crossdressing, and he doesn't really care about having to crossdress, he just finds it surprising. link's basically the apex of unflappability

in order to grow their numbers, they need to force propaganda onto non-conforming teens who are willing to give in.
Um nobody was saying that
"Tails is trans because he's voiced by a woman."
By that metric, why stop there? Every single young boy in cartoons is trans because they're almost all voiced by women, because options for voicing young boys are limited. You either go with a female voice actress as that's the most convenient option, or you go with a genuine boy and often end up with a stinted delivery because they're too young to know how to act well (Tails in the Adventure games have this at its best and Heroes arguably has it at its worst; it's also a confirmed case of a voice actor having to be replaced by their own younger brother because their voice deepened too much to be reprised for the role).
Bart, Linda, Tina - all trans.
Male anime characters even Goku voiced by women - all trans
I guess naruto is trans
Interesting case with The Land Before Time, where Littlefoot is sometimes voiced by boys and sometimes by women. Some have voice cracking because the kid is just getting too old for the role.
I guess by this logic Monkey D Luffy is also trans.
If Tails is trans because female voice actor, I guess Bart Simpson is trans too (voiced by Nancy Cartwright)
Linda and Tina are also trans (voiced by male voice actors).

I love how Link is portrayed in BotW and TotK. He's a typical, to the T brave knight who risks life and limb for his kingdom and for its princess.

But people who directly worked on Final Fight have pretty much taken the stance of, "We don't know, decide for yourself."
Some main bullet points:
* it is likely that the decision was made out of a fear of offending people but from concept art to the Japanese releases it's always been something in mind.
* Poison was canonically and officially referred to as such as early as the first Japanese SNES port.
* The "replaced with men in the US release" is a misconception about Poison and Roxy being given full-on sprite edits to make them different characters.
* Capcom's official statements have been conflicting all over the place.
Damn. That’s the most coherent and well informed comment I’ve seen in a long time.
"* Poison was canonically and officially referred to as such as early as the first Japanese SNES port."
As what?
So they made the game, corporate was nervous of offending the western market (because they have issues with depicting violence to women in media) and they then started to struggle to justify the characters to try to appeal to market in the hopes it would be a good excuse....😂 bruh I'd sooner say "fuck it we selling it in Japan until these guys want it" but ey, this is why I'm not in business meetings. I took their word on it anyhow, and I'm okay with Poison as a cross dresser or not, I like the look of the character and the fact they beat people up.

Ftms are so sad. mtfs are among the most disgustingly fetishistic groups on the planet and are very irritating and obnoxious, but when you see an ftm 90% of the time she went through something horrific..
What does TRA stand for?
@@mrshmuga9 If I recall correctly, it stands for "trans rights activist".
My young step brothers constantly watch garbage UA-cam shorts that are extremely random and highly inappropriate for their age and their father doesn't get a flying fuck. Some people are just bad parents.

If it's "theirs", you can't have it, and if you mess with it, it's heinous violence and you need to be stopped and deplatformed.
Just remember how many times Link goes back to the great fairies for that level four armor upgrade. Link is a chubby chaser if anything.
Death by SNU-SNU!!!
Judging by his reaction to each upgrade, he doesn't seem exactly OKAY with the process, but he's gotta get those upgrades..
Giving these freaks what they want is how things got this far and
It's gonna keep getting worse because of goodfaithness that the freaks continue to take advantage of.
People be arguing over whether modern Link is a Twink or feminine but rule 34 artists were happy to make classic Link a shota.
I find that kinda disturbing because artists have a way of turning a popular character into something they're not. It's a guilty pleasure
I like how you point out Midna in the Twilight Princess game as a romantic interest, because the Official Manga ( which was still ongoing until it finished this year ) literally confirmed TP Link and Midna are an item.
Why is every "this game character is gay/trans" argument something that would be the joke of some 2012 video game parody webcomic.
The hypocrisy never stops. It reminds me of how in the vocaloid fandom, there's an UTAU (yeah not technically vocaloid idc) by the name of Namine Ritsu, who is canonically an okama, aka cross dresser. I wouldn't know for myself having dipped out of the fandom a while ago but I bet he's already declared as trans.
yep! i see a lot of (no offense, but) people new to vocaloid discovering VIPPERloids of which Ritsu is one and claiming him as a transgender woman. there are other VIPPERloids who have interesting gender identities. i forgot their names, but one of them has black pigtails and heterochromia and the other has blue hair and glasses, they are hermaphrodite and genderless respectively. both look very feminine though. of course, these two also get claimed as non binary representation.
the thing is, VIPPERloids (and other troll loids) often have unique or eccentric designs and lore because they are made as jokes, it's to make people go "no way! they made a crossdressing rocket boobs vocaloid?!" only to immediatly discover that nope none of that is official and they've been misled. the point is, it's not serious representation so why claim it as such. idk.
sorry i wrote a bible under your comment lol
edit: Yokune Ruko and Taya Soune are their names :). also, i made a mistake, Soune is an UTAU not a VIPPERloid, oops
I still love Link and Mipha together the most.
Based and Mipha pilled

A very funny side note on the Samus part is that there is an interview where Yoshio Sakamoto, the co-creator of the Metroid series, he said in summary "That the likelyhood of a Metroid game coming to the PS2 is as likely as Samus being a newhalf."
I always think about that whenever the Samus brainrot takes hold.
Hahaha
You know...Samus almost made it into the PS2 version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Vicarious Visions was nearly torn to shreds for that one.

It’s only when she’s featured in gay pride merch (or yelled at online) that people are made aware/remember.
and because they made her gay long after release..... in fact they are pretty much just making every character gay and trans now. its ridiculous
@@cloud8521 That too. We have fictional characters "coming out" years later knowing them as if they're real, lol.
@@mrshmuga9 every character you grew up with? nope genetic dead ends now
I've always said that sexuality really doesn't matter until it's made into porn or hentai.
@@ericriley1985
I was referring to the game footage. The drawing shown is indeed an OG drawing of a moblin, but his game footage shows combat with bokoblins instead of the current moblin iteration.
It's like a rule to give Dev a hard time for his videos. He knows it's because I care.

They literally all forgot that link was engaged to be married to mipha.
"They're eggs that need to be hatched!" Woman, maybe YOUR eggs need to be hatched.
Representation stopped feeling like Representation the moment I realized a lot of these people screaming for it just wanted the thing they liked to be popular
Why do they always go for traps, because people like traps and not them not realizing trying to change something into something its not won't make them like you in fact it makes them hate you more
The Aerial thing proved it the most recently
But at the same time Spider Verse did too by being a good original movie, diversity ain't the issue, making a good product is all that matters
A story can have gay characters like the Last of Us 1 but Last of Us 2 Showed that maturity is respecting your audience rather forcing them to understand your plight, people focusing on the gay parts is underselling the good parts of the game, I'm not gay but even then I think Ellie had a decent life with Dina only to throw it all away, thats something not specific to the gay experience but people got mad the only two gay characters didn't have a happy ending(plus the joel death) and saw it as an attack against gays like there's no winning with these people so its best to not care about the fact they want this shit the way they want to view it
They go for traps because the only people who like the 'male crossdresser' trope are people too far long gone to put up any meaningful resistance to the trans shit. The only reason it doesn't really work is because people who like traps (closet homosexuals) are so attracted to the character being male that they will endlessly complain about losing their little boy to sexually obsess over.
Also us nerds learned it's not a good thing when the thing you like is popular. I gatekeep.

This is exactly the same thing on how I feel about the Birdo character from the Mario Brothers Games.
Unless they say otherwise: Just because a Male Character dresses up as a Female, Doesn't automatically mean he's Trans. (At Best he's a Femboy or Gender Fluid)
15:50
Yeah, there's actually something really weird about the whole Goron thing.
Make them stop please.
We cant ALL be gay.
Then there will be no more humans...
...wait...
If there are no humans:
Climate change will cease to exist
Racism will cease to exist
Capitalism will cease to exist
[Insert]phobia will cease to exist.
I think I just figured out their plans
You figured out that that's actually the point.
Essay warning:
You ever notice how when these regressives discuss and celebrate “trans representation in video games,” they really only ever talk about trans women?
Think about it. Let’s say that the trans icons they constantly champion were actually trans. What would they be?
Well, let’s bring up the most popular examples.
Birdo from Mario: mtf
Vivian from Paper Mario: mtf
Poison from Final Fight/Street Fighter: mtf
Madeleine from Celeste: mtf
Bridget from Guilty Gear: mtf
Samus from Metroid: They constantly push that she’s a trans woman, MTF
Link from Legend of Zelda: As this video discusses, MTF
Heck, I’ll even bring up the brainlets that superficially call pokémon trans because of gender ratio and design clashes (braixen, primarina, etc.) or just ones like sylveon where its color palette happens to match the trans pride flag.
I left out the second pair of quotations around “trans icons” because
a) I was lazy lol
and
b) I figured people would see my usage of the term with my previous quotation and put two-and-two together on how I was using it.
(whole ‘nother can of worms though)
But if the artist wants to burn his own art, you can’t really stop his own free choice, right? _sigh_
Birdo afaik is trans.
And, while I’m at it, here’s a fun fact for you:
Poison’s English VA in SFV is voiced by Karen Straussman.
Not only is she *not* trans, but twitter has actually labeled her as an anti-BLM *TERF!*
Oh! Again, the irony.
Chef’s kiss.
Again, thank you for the reply. I’m glad to actually talk about this with someone for once lol.
*Edit: Spelling/grammar corrections and other comments/revisions.
Instead of “cis,” can we just call them “actual?”
Cis being literally coined to shame people who don't have the regime's approved of mental illness, so yea, I'm all for saying "real women" or "actual women".
I vote for no prefix.
or just "normal"
@@jht3fougifh393 I second that but I still like OP's sass 😂
Or let's be cool and call ourselves gestalt
If these questions come to your mind while playing a game you're probably not wrapped too tight.
Or child labor laws
"We can't write good trans character so we'll take all the normal ones" Thats a pretty unhealthy mindset tbh
It honestly was better advice than what we are getting now.
link is a gigachad that gets mad women
In a bunch of games too. Fromnamed characters like: Zelda, Malon, Saria, Ruto, Ilia, Midna, and Paya to random NPC women. Some female NPC in TotK hit on Link, got embarrassed, and then said he was too clingy when I kept clicking the option to “not forget” what happened, lol.
You know dude is wilin’ when he doesn’t end his video with an “I love you”
The ending of bayonetta 3 is an example of a Japanese dev getting rid of characters people love and replacing them with a character everyone hates
tbh i didn't mind the new character
I think it’s probably a fake out given a number of details. Also, Bayo killed God in the first game, and rescued Jeanne from Hell. I wouldn’t take anything the game says as “permanent” seriously. They’ll make some excuse to reverse/contradict it 10s later.
