I wish somebody would find the replay of the umpire calling out Lou Whitaker at home plate and not noticing Kirk Gibson coming around from 3rd into home plate knocking the Umpire over with all the baseballs the umpire had all over the field and calling Gibson safe not knowing which ball was the actual one. The funniest thing I ever saw
Umpire interference is when a batted ball hits an umpire in fair territory when the umpire is forward of the bases. In that case, the umpire calls for a dead ball and gives the batter first base. In all other cases, the umpire is considered part of the field
0:24 is that the same umpire that called that home run a double, after looking at every angle of it and seeing that it was very very clearly a home run?
Could someone explain why Joe West is so disliked? When I watch games with him behind the dish he’s a pretty consistent umpire at least the last few years
Because he's an asshole and is extremely disrespectful on several occasions. He has maybe gotten better over the years but he still has one of the worst strike zones in the league.
They need to have an umpire interference. If a player is running to second and the umpire obstructs the runner, then the runner should be given the base
Right, then we can have every runner trying to deliberately run into the umpire when he rounds second. Did you know that originally in baseball that if a fielder threw a ball and it hit an umpire the runner was out? Guess why they changed that rule ; )
Yeah no shit dude you think they aren't trying to? Coming from a person who just umps middle school games I'm not trying to get drilled by a line drive and I'm sure that applies tenfold when it's an mlb batter at the plate
@@coreyhill681 ah, I love armchair umpires like you. Why don't you work second base and try to avoid a hard line drive then to show us how it's done? Easier said than done.
That’s the first and only Joe West highlight that doesn’t make me hate him lmao
Kinda deserves it
@TheKow especially if he take Angel Hernandez and Ron Kulpa with him.
love everyone
Hate everyone
I am glad joe was ok. Love that moment
How about Angel Hernandez literally running into the base path
Not even slightly surprised
He's always interjecting himself into the game somehow and someway.
He thought the runner was going around him towards the outfield, not around him towards the infield. Split second decision and he went the wrong way.

That sounds amazing. I really want to see that now.
Not surprised that Hernandez and West are both here, but kind of surprised Billy Hamilton is here twice
he's too fast for the umps to avoid lol
The ones where the line drive is hit towards them, there is no way anyone could avoid that
They can't avoid getting hit, but they can definitely avoid getting hit by a fair ball, by just standing in foul territory.
@@Jivvi where would the 2nd base umpire stand in foul territory?

Thank you for this I was about to ask the ruling but no need anymore :)

No, but the umpire you're asking about is at 2:04 Angel Hernandez
1:22 that’s soccer in action
You can clearly tell that he did that on his own
He was already slightly off balance because he was stepping backwards. A bit of a push was all it took.
@@Jivvi nah no way that he falls that hard and dramatic from a little push
@@braxtonplays4030 Don't understand what point you're making, him faking it does nothing. He's an old dude who tripped. Simple as.
umpires should not be so out of shape
At least it would give them a little bit of cushion if they got hit in the stomach.

He will throw you out of the game for literally no fucking reason, because he has a massive ego and will never admit when he's wrong
Hamilton was 2 for 2 in first base umpire takedowns. That is a metric that the statisticians don't talk about enough.
Umpires are in fair play no such thing as a dead ball, just like if a cup is on the field.
1:21 looks like a drive-by. I'm sure it was meant as an apology but the pointing could just as easily mean "I TOLD YOU I WAS COMIN FOR YOU."
Greg Gibson motioning to both benches.
nice music

The best part
Lmfao that angle at 2:25, Angle is running right in front of the runner LOL
That face from Joe West tho...
Where's Angel Hernandez when you're an out of control runner looking deliver a flying knee?

Almost first
With cameras and modern technologies, they could get the umps off the field.
Holographic umpires.
