He was debatabley the best big man to ever play the game and more importantly such a positive role model to the kids and on top of being a great role model for the kids, he does so much financially to help kids in need and others as well just way to much stuff to list. I was watching a video of a Marist College reunion game and Rik Smits was dunking. Though Smits might be a few inches taller than Shaq. Which reminds me of a story. I went to Marist College right after Smits, and they had another 7'4" from the same Netherlands hometown as Rik Smits. But, this kid very rarely got off the bench. He was entertaining though. I remember him standing in line behind 10 year olds to play the video games at the McCann Center. That was the gym at Marist. It had video games. And this was the days before home consoles were good. So, the McCann center, with its few cabinet games on the way to the bathroom was like an arcade to the kids of Poughkeepsie, and one 7'4" college player from the Netherlands.
