the grade is about 2" below the bottom of the floor joists. amazaling enough the interior floor of the crawl space floor is 22" below the bottom of the floor joists. Look for the venting of a crawl space in a youtube any day now to see how I change the air in a crawl!

You are demonstrating that the soil be about house floor level. I think dirt must be at least 6 inches below floor level.

i would think that at the house youd want dirt below your slab or foundation and work down from that

with a slab house I would start no higher than the top of the slab. With a block foundation I would stay 2" down from the top of the block to keep moisture from the wood joists.
