Hopefully the Victim is ok and this case can be solved ASAP but this is something I will be following
The Swedish police are preparing a report for their prosecutors so there is obviously something to report on. I am sad the Netherlands have been disqualified but once again we appear to be victim blaming.
I love how much of a wild ride it's going to be. Ya the season has been quite...toxic and divisive but the music this year has been unbelievable. I am rooting for Croatia to take the win tonight to prove if you have the right song you can win, politics aren't the determining factor.
This year the running order is odd, compared to earlier. They've put some of the big favorites early, also in the semis even though there wasn't any early voting in the semis. For reference, it was Ireland (semi 1 #4), Ukraine (semi 1 #5, final #2), Switzerland (semi 1 #4) and Lithuania (final #7).
This is the first time I can remember this happening for me Tom so I am not sure how to communicate it, however while Bambie Thug's music is not in my wheelhouse, I thought that the semi final performance, staging and presentation was absolutely out of this world. I understand why you are underselling it, but I think there will be enough televoters for that performance that it is a genuine top five chance. The jury vote will be the killer, but I think they will finish on the left side of the points chart.
Well while I'm obviously very sad about NL DQ, there *is* one country with a similar entry to NL that would fully deserve any votes meant for NL, ie. Finland. (And voting for it would also be saying "screw you" to ESC at the same time!) Not sure why fans would think of just Croatia (though ofc it deserves all the votes as well, but as an alternative to NL, FI is much closer.).
Unfortunately, I have the feeling that Nemo won't even make it to the top 3 :( and as a Swiss person I'll probably have to endure being pushed out of first place again after the tele votes, like in 2021😭 But I hope, despite all the drama and rumors going around, that it will be an exciting duel between Croatia and Switzerland. Both deserve it. Wish you a great Show Tom! I like your analyses very much✨
It's not too out there or unusual. I don't know why people keep saying that tout Portugal and Slovenia. I don't think it will be out there for juries either. Yes, the interpretative dancing is different but it is not out there. I mean there are others using sort of interpretative dancing in the same contest.
I thought someone was innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. EBU why on earth would you disqualify someone without proper reasoning?! To me this seems completely disproportionate and unfair.
@@ar50000 the favorite, I don't think so (as a Dutchie). I feel like this year is hard to predict in general. Still I'd be pissed if anyone was to get disqualified for seemingly nothing.
We don't really know what has happened but from what have come out in the press... Violence and threats is of course not accepted, not towards EBU staff or someone else. I honestly the EBU wanted the Netherlands to withdraw but as they did not, was forced to disqualify... Very sad situation! 😞
That to me means, the allegations are actually pretty serious. They never had to disqualify a country while the contest was already going on. Joost ruined it for himself, yet people seem to think the EBU just disqualifies without a reason.
If, and this is a big if since things are getting messier by the minute, no one else is disqualified/no one withdraws, what's the voting strategy? Don't vote so we don't give the EBU money, but risk a certain country sweeping the televote? Vote Croatia to maximize his points? Vote Switzerland so that they have high jury and televote points?
I think vote for who was the big favourite before everything kicked off - Croatia I dont know what the % split is, but i guess the broadcaster gets more of the money than the EBU does
Regarding the France mic thing: "Making a mistake" can be an effective way to grab people's attention. It kind of knocks you off balance a little bit and forces you to think about what's happening. It's an actual strategy sometimes used in advertising. Not sure if that's what they're doing, but it might have something to do with it.
Hi Tom! Thanks for your commentary! I’m still undecided but leaning towards not watching the final today. EBU is making big mistake by keeping everything under the rug. I already saw everything in semifinals and will vote for my favorites anyhow. Maybe I will just tune in for Lasagna and that’s it. I’m sad seeing my favorite show being ruined for political reasons while pretending not to be politically motivated.
Yes. Every year the secrecy makes it worse. I thought the EBU were desperate for money and want more countries to participate. This is deffo not encouraging it.
Mostly I'm living for the drama but one analytical comment: I think my country(Norway) just barely, barely made it in this year. I think both Netherlands and you-know-who were such big televote magnets that we got squashed a little in the semi, and now we're getting squashed a little in the final too lol. We could end up right-side for the first time since Tix. I also think our staging was more impactful at MGP than at Eurovision, I dunno why but NRK just isn't amazing at translating staging.
i’m not entirely sure if I’m gonna keep watching Eurovision… I really love it but it became mentally draining for me with all the drama (even tho this year is the best song and performances wise imho) Well, definitely not stopping watching you 😂
Same. I watched both semis and really enjoyed the first one, but the second one and all the really bad drama... what a disaster (and EBU did it to themselves) I don't think I'll be watching the finals tonight and it makes me sad because I've loved the ESC since childhood :(
Finland last on jury poins? Not gonna happend 😅 Can u explain why..? Soo bad vocals? or song?. I dont think so... It will be shock how much they will get from jury 🕺🕺
No, juries never liked or rewarded these kinds of performances. It is what it is. It will be especially tough for such an act to get jury points this year when there are so many slick performances and great vocalists just to their liking. I am not guaranteeing it will be last for the jury, but it will be around there. Maybe Estonia will be last for the jury since that is also a fun-like performance, but even less structured. And "The drug song"!!! I mean they are bound to burry it
One sad thing is that if Croatia wins, people will say it only won because everyone threw their votes at it cause they didn't want Is==el to win. I would be happy with them winning, but the EBU needs to recognise the fun that they have seeped from this contest.
I saw this on a Facebook group I'm in. They believed that everyone should throw all their votes on Croatia because they believed, and I quote: "that Baby Lasagna was the only one who could save the contest". I chose to ignore it as I had already pledged all my ROW votes in the final to Nemo
The iceberg must be monstrously huge this year. -My top 5: 🇳🇴🇮🇪🇭🇷🇱🇹🇨🇭 -Jury winner: 🇫🇷 -Televote winner: 🇭🇷 -Winner: 🇨🇭 Switzerland has the optimal televote-jury balance as the most jury-friendly among the expected televote favorites.
My theory about the running order is that they have put a lot of the countries who have won recently/ have a lot of wins early on to give the other countries a chance this year, because of the ‘We just love Eurovsion too much’ song where they said they would ‘try’ not to win again. But that’s just my theory, I’m wishing good luck to Croatia but the EBU is an utter shambles😭
Love the "ballad sandwich" around Finland, and yes, it will make Finland pop all the more 😂 (And needless to say, I just don't get the hate towards it, so utterly undeserved!) Also, everyone who wants to show a middle finger (or a***) to EBU, vote for nr 17 tonight!!! 🖕As that's what the entry's basically doing. ;)
I think opening the voting early can damage some of the later acts. People (and I mean casual viewers) will like some of the first songs and may vote for each once or a couple of times and then when they get to the last 5 or 6 contestants there's no more votes to spend. Hopefuly, I'm wrong
EUROVISION is fireworks, drama and POP. Countries without a decent neighbourhood, will always struggle. Sending quality is a waste of time and effort. Let's see it tonight!
In recent years alone - A rock band won in 2021... Hatari, Go-A and Blind Channel all made the top ten... Cha Cha Cha won the public vote. And this year's two favourites to win are a genre-bending work of art and a metal-inspired banger. The latter of which would bring the first win to his country (after it was official formed, otherwise second).
To be blunt, the EBU decided to F around and found out. This incident won't be the last thing that happens, either. Well let's all take a moment to be honest with ourselves, it will be a miracle if something else does not happen because of Israel's involvement in this contest this year. One way or another, someone's going to say something that's going to make Petra have to come up with something very witty to distract on the Fly. At the very least, there will be in Iceland situation. And the Ebu had every opportunity to avoid this washing their hands of controversy by asking Israel to take a step back from the contest, there now in severe danger of having something very very controversial happen that rocks the boat far more.
I believe the true reason behind EBU desicions on the matter is the actual belief that bad attitude against Israel is actually a minority opinion in Europe, albeit very loud due to protests. This also is based on many recent elections with the rights claiming more and more power throughout different countries (them being generally more pro-Israel). The ESC fans being overwhelmingly disagreeing with this (as it seems) doesn't influence their desicion as they just don't give a sht about bunch of people comparing to the millions of the actual show audience, even though most of them only tunes in once in a year. Politics as is. To be clear, I personally don't think disqualification would be a good decision though, despite all the difficulties and drama it further involved, I just don't think EBU is in the right place to judge here. (I know I might get a lot of backlash for this opinion, but I think that people are just not looking outside their bubble and comfort zone enough which is dangerous long-term)
Did anyone else had an ad with Elen called "vote for Israel" before this video? Edit: I thought I went crazy, but it popped once again and it's region-oriented, cause she speaks my native language in the ad. Hopefully you won't get this jumpscare
First I enjoyed watching Eurovision Semi Final 1 and 2 but now I am not excited at all to watch Eurovision this year I am very upset that The Netherlands got DQ when this season ends I hope Martin Osterdahl resigns and btw I love your videos and good luck to Ireland I hope you get placed in the left score board and do well and I hope Croatia wins Eurovision
The rest of the world vote was delayed, and when the DQ was announced is when it opened. So no, nobody voted for him because they saw this coming and made sure it didn't happen.
It's strange because in every communication they've made sure to point out that the incident occurred with a FEMALE member of production. The sex of the person he had an incident with shouldn't matter, unless they are trying to imply that he missbehaved. I think they took a decision last night but they have postponed the announcement as much as possible to try to avoid the people protesting.
I'll be proud of Bambie no matter where they place in the final, the fact that Ireland got into the final and had in my opinion the best performance of semi 1 feels like such a win. But it is pretty exciting hearing potential winner vibes 😅🥰🫶🏽
They have ruined it this year, I was swaiting so long and was so excited for almost two months and last two days just want it to end - however will be voting for Croatia now when the lines open for the REST of THE WORLD from Kosovo - I am rooting for Croatias first win and their performance in semis was amazing - good luck to everyone but my heart says CROATIA WINNER

You can always add a section where you mention how these couldn't compete because of war but they shouldn't compete.
so ukraine doesnt need to compete as well?
I agree
I agree. The EBU should put this in their rulebook
@@abcasd8309 Yes. I love Ukraine and their music but people looked down on their win claiming it's political driven and that people only voted for them because of the war. To prevent that and to keep the show about music it is best in my opinion.
@@abcasd8309 Exactly
I was so excited for this years Eurovision and now I'm just waiting for it be over hoping everything turns out at least fine
Here a Dutchman who is sad but i wish every country good luck tonight ❤
hope you can have a great time Tom, despite everything going on. Stay safe, love from down under
(SIX WE HAVE ISRAEL) then the blackout... hahahaha, am so in love with you.
Good luck everyone! Love from Georgia!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Have you got tickets for tonight?
It weighs heavy how things has turned out this year especially with such talent it has. I'm still going to watch the finals live at 5am 🇦🇺 but I'm unfortunately not going to be voting this year, even though I still have some favourites in the finals. I just can't justify putting in money after the shitshow this year.
(Sorry to Lithuania, Ireland and Switzerland 💕 hopefully they go well regardless).
0:00 Before watching the Video I am starting this video The EBU had just Announced The Netherlands have been disqualified about an hour ago. I'm still in shock this has happened I am an Australian so This is News I woke up to this morning and no one in the Public. My understanding is Joost Klein has been sent Home. If you are in Malmö (or not) please stay safe. I thought Through out the Video I would timestamp where I paused and Give my thought or any new developments I have seen and at the end we will see if I know anymore when the video is over. But this is definitely is a topic a lot of Eurovision UA-camrs will be making videos about. Not everything I say will be about the Joost Klein Incident.
0:38 Unfortunately Not Tom I wonder if the Finnish Broadcasters are glad they didnt win but maybe this wouldn't have happened
1:09 I reckon with the EBU being forced to try something different this year, I wonder if that might mean less Girly Bops open in the Future. Girly Bops will still open sometimes but I wonder if it will happen less.
2:11 I hope Ukraine still come top 5 they definitely deserve to regardless of where they perform. Also I think the EBU thought Ukraine could still get a big televote regardless of where they Performed
3:50 I just refreshed the page with the details and nothing new has come in. He seemed to really enjoy himself in the Semi and I wouldn't want to be the EBU right now. Once Eurovision is over they deserve a holiday somewhere.
6:51 With the Netherlands disqualified that will really help Estonia I think if they weren't left side of the scoreboard already they will be now.
9:41 I definitely think Ireland have succeeded this season even if they somehow come last. I think just Qualifying is a Success for Ireland
10:32 I reckon Latvia will do well with the jurys if Slimane doesn't eat up all his votes
11:44 Originally I didn't like "Zari" but I watched the Semi Performance and I dont mind it. I used to not like it but now its ok
14:54 Just Found out the EBU people have told people not to vote #5 so It looks like countries are keeping the number they originally had as the number to vote for
27:21 I have been a Fan of France from day 1 never leaving my Number 1 spot. I hope they can win if you can Vote France #25
(Even though they are performing 24th it is what it is, which is a mess)
29:41 No New information on the Joost Klein Incident. Hopefully the Victim is ok and this case can be solved ASAP but this is something I will be following
The Swedish police are preparing a report for their prosecutors so there is obviously something to report on. I am sad the Netherlands have been disqualified but once again we appear to be victim blaming.
As always great analysis Tom
As of now, Joost won't participate in the finals. The EBU made a statement a few minutes ago
Omg what?!
@@erinnadia0409 Yeah, they disqualified Netherlands.
@@RubyChiang fuck! I don't know if I want to watch the final now! Maybe I'll just sleep in instead (I'm living in Australia)
Not gonna watch anymore!! Eurovision👏
The video got old so very quickly (not your fault of course)
The Netherlands has been disqualified
well I guess with no Netherlands to vote for, it's an easier decision for me now. Croatia will be having most of my votes.
@@florenna In the words of Kaarija “No Rules!”
I literally have no words for all of this
Unfortunately, I have the feeling that Nemo won't even make it to the top 3 :( and as a Swiss person I'll probably have to endure being pushed out of first place again after the tele votes, like in 2021😭
But I hope, despite all the drama and rumors going around, that it will be an exciting duel between Croatia and Switzerland. Both deserve it. Wish you a great Show Tom! I like your analyses very much✨
Congratz, NEMO WON!!!
@@milest4214 My heart was racing at the end😭❤️
Wouldn't being earlier on be a benefit since voting opens up at the start thus giving early entries more time for people to vote for them?
At this point I'm not excited about the Final!! I just want anyone to win except "that country", otherwise the contest will be dead.
I'm not as confident that Portugal will do well with the juries... I'm worried they will think it's too "out there" and unusual.
I hope not
@@henriikkak2091 I hope I'm wrong!
Taking out the favorite, so someone else can win?
@@ar50000 the favorite, I don't think so (as a Dutchie). I feel like this year is hard to predict in general. Still I'd be pissed if anyone was to get disqualified for seemingly nothing.
We don't really know what has happened but from what have come out in the press... Violence and threats is of course not accepted, not towards EBU staff or someone else. I honestly the EBU wanted the Netherlands to withdraw but as they did not, was forced to disqualify... Very sad situation! 😞
@@MrMsDingdingding If that was (confirmed) the case they should come out with a statement immediately, and not do it like this.
That to me means, the allegations are actually pretty serious. They never had to disqualify a country while the contest was already going on. Joost ruined it for himself, yet people seem to think the EBU just disqualifies without a reason.
Guys, Joost is disqualified! I am shocked! I can't believe it
Neither can I. It's crazy.
@@Elderflowerpunch yes, absolutely crazy
This Eurovision should be legally challenged and repeated.
Thank you so much for all the coverage. Sucks that i had to explain my family all the drama.
what a mess, honestly.
I think vote for who was the big favourite before everything kicked off - Croatia
I dont know what the % split is, but i guess the broadcaster gets more of the money than the EBU does
Regarding the France mic thing: "Making a mistake" can be an effective way to grab people's attention.
I also think our staging was more impactful at MGP than at Eurovision, I dunno why but NRK just isn't amazing at translating staging.
haha “sixth up we have Israel. Seventh up, Lithuania with Silvester Belt”
i’m not entirely sure if I’m gonna keep watching Eurovision… I really love it but it became mentally draining for me with all the drama (even tho this year is the best song and performances wise imho)
Well, definitely not stopping watching you 😂
Same. I watched both semis and really enjoyed the first one, but the second one and all the really bad drama... what a disaster (and EBU did it to themselves)
I don't think I'll be watching the finals tonight and it makes me sad because I've loved the ESC since childhood :(
Finland last on jury poins? Not gonna happend 😅 Can u explain why..? Soo bad vocals? or song?. I dont think so... It will be shock how much they will get from jury 🕺🕺
Here's hoping it will! 😅 But I'm not very confident about juries, seeing last year's result...
I mean they are bound to burry it
@@belosevickris3379 prediction brilliantly executed, sir 😂
One sad thing is that if Croatia wins, people will say it only won because everyone threw their votes at it cause they didn't want Is==el to win. I would be happy with them winning, but the EBU needs to recognise the fun that they have seeped from this contest.
I saw this on a Facebook group I'm in. They believed that everyone should throw all their votes on Croatia because they believed, and I quote: "that Baby Lasagna was the only one who could save the contest". I chose to ignore it as I had already pledged all my ROW votes in the final to Nemo
Video for your opinion on the drama please.
The iceberg must be monstrously huge this year.
-My top 5:
🇳🇴🇮🇪🇭🇷🇱🇹🇨🇭
-Jury winner:
🇫🇷
-Televote winner:
🇭🇷
-Winner:
🇨🇭
Switzerland has the optimal televote-jury balance as the most jury-friendly among the expected televote favorites.
So Belgium, who finished 11th in Semi Final 2, takes the place of the Netherlands.
Belgium finished 13. Czechia finished in 11th
Back when we were all still somewhat happy 😮💨
🖕As that's what the entry's basically doing. ;)
The disdain comes from the crudity, the childishness, and the absence of anything meaningful or worthy about Finland's entry.
The latter half is such a rollercoaster!
I think opening the voting early can damage some of the later acts.
People (and I mean casual viewers) will like some of the first songs and may vote for each once or a couple of times and then when they get to the last 5 or 6 contestants there's no more votes to spend.
Hopefuly, I'm wrong
Possibly. However, that will even out some of the imbalances in the running order: Maybe the so-called death spots won't be so bad.
JUSTICE FOR JOOST
I wish to hear on Eurovision something like this again: Eimear Quinn - The Voice
Skipping that 6th confirms that u are the best esc-youtuber 🤝
Did anyone else had an ad with Elen called "vote for Israel" before this video?
Edit: I thought I went crazy, but it popped once again and it's region-oriented, cause she speaks my native language in the ad. Hopefully you won't get this jumpscare
No (luckily!).
Yes
First I enjoyed watching Eurovision Semi Final 1 and 2 but now I am not excited at all to watch Eurovision this year I am very upset that The Netherlands got DQ when this season ends I hope Martin Osterdahl resigns and btw I love your videos and good luck to Ireland I hope you get placed in the left score board and do well and I hope Croatia wins Eurovision
“Sixth up we have Israel…. seventh is Lithuania” 😂
Did the rest of the world vote yesterday? Money back?
Definitely. And I bet, The Netherlands have gotten a lot of points from it.
The rest of the world vote was delayed, and when the DQ was announced is when it opened. So no, nobody voted for him because they saw this coming and made sure it didn't happen.
Thanks from Portugal ❤❤❤
It's strange because in every communication they've made sure to point out that the incident occurred with a FEMALE member of production. The sex of the person he had an incident with shouldn't matter, unless they are trying to imply that he missbehaved.
I think they took a decision last night but they have postponed the announcement as much as possible to try to avoid the people protesting.
I was waiting to hear about israel, why did you skip them?
The "drug" song 🤣
Great work Tom. I hope Angelina shines. - Croatia winning would top a bad year for me. I have no time for it, I'm afraid.
Tom what's happening with Ireland Switzerland & Greece ?
What do you mean?

21:33. Nope. Get out the checkbook and see you around next year in Switzerland !
I still like the Europapa song. It's my favourite. But also Croatia or Ireland for the win. I'd be happy with either.
