I was born in 1960 and spent the first 28 years of my life in this great town. Some of these streets were on my paper route as a boy. I never would've imagined that it would come to this level of devastation. This is hurtful to see.

I’ve driven lots and lots of cars w bad batteries in my life and often I’ve asked strangers for a jump and I’ve had mixed results everywhere I’ve lived *EXCEPT* living out by Stewart and DuPont in 07. My car battery died all the time but all I would have to do is go out to the end of my driveway and wave the jumper cables and 100% of the time the first (male) person who would drive by would pull over and pop the hood to give me a jump. Them people got love in their hearts and make good neighbors even if you’ve never met them before. Everyone should go buy a house on the north side of flint and build a utopia of friendly neighbors

For nearly a hundred years the largest employer in Flint was GM. Tens of thousands of jobs. The decline you see is directly related to the disappearance of that era.
Lots of open space. Flint has made tremendous strides in blight removal recently. The remaining ruins are mostly private owned, and with no eminent domain in Michigan, the City must own the property to demolish it. Good work, Flint, and great video!

GM's "Buick City" was the largest and oldest site in the corporation; 250 acres. After spending millions to renovate and upgrade it, they shut it down and demolished everything. There went all the jobs and there goes the town. What a shame. Where's Gretchen Whitmer?
You’re a fool if you think this video is flint in its entirety. Flint is not a suburb but there are way more better areas in the city than what he shows. If you’re not living in a rural area or suburb, then likely your city has impoverished areas as well.

You drive another 25-35 minutes outside that area, and it could be really nice. Not rich people millionaire nice, but like only white people around, established tourist area nice type shit.
We offshored all the industry, and rely on other countries to manufacture our goods, and now we want to impose tariffs to make the price of those goods higher? Tariffs only work to protect jobs if we have the manufacturing capacity to replace what we’ve sent offshore.

For reasons probably originating in the famous sit-down strike, the citizenry of Flint are collectively the most rabidly anti-employer bunch of people one can imagine. One attorney who i tried a case against banked his first million dollars his first year out of law school by suing employers for supposed wrongful discharge. In our case, which i won on appeal, he said in final argument: Let's show this employer that's not how we do things in Flint. That pro-union anti-employer animus resulted in old businesses leaving Flint and new businesses declining to locate there. That is why you see the abject poverty and abandoned buildings in this video.

I have lived my entire life in or around Flint (Genesee county) All my neighbors, Uncles and Grandpas worked in the shops, raised their families and retired and lived very well. The problem was theft, every single estate auction in the 80s and 90s had GM or AC parts in buckets in the garage or basements of these people, my Uncle worked 2 days on week and 3 days the following week so he and his buddy could punch each other in and do each others jobs. This lasted decades. The bottom line is the early employee's didn't care about the future! just the money in their pockets!

I also show Detroit probably more than anywhere, and that’s where I live. People come here to see what I show, and a lot of the areas are by request. The thumbnails, and title say exactly what the videos show, so why did you click on it? If this not for you fine, but you can’t tell other people what to show. Make a channel showing new houses in Flint or whatever you want people to see.

You don’t seem to follow. The specific purpose of this channel is to show run down urban and inner city areas. This is a niche channel. I also show Detroit probably more than anywhere, and that’s where I live. People come here to see what I show, and a lot of the areas are by request. The thumbnails, and title say exactly what the videos show, so why did you click on it? If this not for you fine, but you can’t tell other people what to show. Make a channel showing new houses in Flint or whatever you want people to see.
