- An environmental health specialist from the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health inspects Del Mar Fruits at Santa Monica Beach on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Del Mar Fruits is powered by El Terror. All 10 fruit carts received A ratings.
Santa Monica Police Officers and Code Enforcement Officers were on hand to support the Health Deputy.
Sidewalk vending can be conducted on most sidewalks and pedestrian paths in the City, but there are restrictions on where stationary vending can take place and the hours when roaming vending can take place in residential locations. In addition, no vending is allowed on private property, the Santa Monica Pier (including within 100 feet of the Pier), a farmer’s market, permitted community events or filming activities, a bike path, a street, driveway, or public parking lot.
Stationary sidewalk vending is also prohibited within 25 feet of the Third Street Promenade, the Transit Mall, the Beach, in residential areas, the 1700 block of Ocean Front Walk, and portions of the Palisades Park within 500 feet of the Pier entrance. Roaming sidewalk vending is not allowed in residential areas between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Santa Monica was one of the first cities in the state to develop a permitted vending program. The City's comprehensive program that has allowed permitted or licensed vendors to operate for over 30 years includes permitting processes and parameters for safe vending, and today over 150 vendors are legally permitted to vend in the city. In 2018, the state law changed with the “Safe Sidewalk Vending Act” (SB 946) to provide important entrepreneurship and economic opportunities to low-income and immigrant communities.
State and local laws guide safe vending practices and standards in Santa Monica. All vendors need a City of Santa Monica business license and if applicable, a vending permit to sell any items in the City, and vendors selling food must also obtain and display a Los Angeles County Department of Public Health permit. The permit requirements reflect Santa Monica’s commitment to balancing public health and safety with expanding opportunities for micro-entrepreneurs.
Vendors are encouraged and welcome in many sidewalk locations throughout the City. In particular, sidewalk vendors are encouraged to vend on the sidewalk along Colorado Avenue between the Expo Light Rail Line (4th Street) and Ocean Avenue (top of the Santa Monica Pier). Street vending is restricted areas including Third Street Promenade, Palisades Park, Santa Monica Pier and the beach.

Good for him. Remember when he said he would never go legal no matter what? Guess the task force worked in under 6 months. Good job.
Biden said the same thing.
Fr he said that? Which video? Bet he balling now💰
Good to see! Respect the laws and we can remain a civil society
I agree
@@Irishguy075 some laws or bogus and expensive but some shit is there so we don't live like cavemen.
Así se hace ! Todo legal cómo debe de ser . Un ejemplo para los que no quieren obedecer las leyes de aquí !!
35:30 translation - "we got a permit so you can stop harassing us and your still harassing us" --- WOW! I understand the frustration
This was a Health Inspection! All restaurants and food services are subject to these inspections. Welcome to the right way of selling stuff.
@@pennypackmtb2542 The right way according to who - if they don’t give you citations they don’t have a job
@@AirFilterToys It's called, "The LAW". If they didn't fine them, would they do as they say? From all the videos I have watched on this, the vendors seem to object to the LAW and many continue to do as they have. The LAWS are designed to bring order, fairness and safety to the public. "The cops wouldn't have a job" if they were not needed and people followed the LAWS.
@@pennypackmtb2542 man made "LAW" - we make and change them all the time , i am saying i do not agree with this law- my Grandma sold fruit during war time and that is how she survived - you telling me a kid cant sell lemonade - not everyone is Warren Buffett and knows how to expense their bicycle
@@AirFilterToys If everyone sold good fruit like your Grandma did, there would be no need for laws to protect the public. It is the few that don't, that ruin it for everyone else.
Awesome, Thanks for sharing! 👍👍👍
What a beautiful thing it is to be law abiding citizens
Very special.
I’m so glad the city/county and the vendors worked out the kinks!💯🥰 it feels good to be legit!👍🏽🙏🏾💙🥰💯
So true.
nice to see that things are being done correctly
Something isn’t right about this. Trying to look important. They should check to see if these vendors are legal to be here. Proper permits & food handlers papers as well to sell in the city. Just like we have to too operate a business.
I hope he becomes the most profitable vendor on SM beach. 👍🐳✌
NOW THIS WOMAN IS SAIDING SHE BREAK THE LAW. WELL THAT'S NOT GOOD.
While others fight for their own interests..these people are getting it legit......nice...
Where Emily? Lol 😆
She probably had her kid by now, and can't sell!
Someone needs to check the Inspector's bank account and see if he has been bribed by the vendors....city needs to hire some undercover vendors and see if the Inspectors ask for payment for a passing grade. Too much frauds going around.
True
Why you hate to much ...
Go to church ⛪️!!!!
Jajajaja
That a,good question, how the hell they get a A so fast
@@High12083 I mean it's a tiny cart, there's not much too "inspect."
@@vortrexion what about vendors permits @
How can they be licensed to sell food when they have no way to wash their hands? I wonder if health inspectors inspect where they do all the food prepping?
lmaof your name😂
They’re not cutting fruit on the spot anymore moron. Everything’s already cut and packaged in containers. They wear gloves

LOOK HOW THERE.? THANK YOU GUYS YOU GOT A AS. GOOD LUCK
So el terror financed brother Jorge ? Good for him finding the help
Are the vendors required to buy insurance...in case someone gets sick eating their fruits???
Part of getting a "BUISSNESS LICENS" is to prove you have all necessary permits, licenses, insurance and training to do so. You must also submit to inspections to prove that the business is following all of the guide lines.

What is this? a franchise operating in Santa Monica Beach? this is very organized, like organized crime? Good Job SMPD,,keep these gangsters out of the beach.
Do they have their health inspection sticker on their carts and their license to sell stuff?
Good job terror ..... dosent it feel good to b legit !!
Good job Jorge! Good Luck this summer-jerry
was that an onion bagel on the ground?
Great to see that these portable carts are following the rules. But, they are still steeling from the Businesses that that pay the rent, so this place can exist.
@@joemusic2882 The less they sell, the more they have to upcharge. It's not them making a profit, it is the overhead they must pay for the location. So loosing sales to those that don't pay for the high rent and overhead for the location, makes it unfair.
Why was the lady being argumentative?
We love it. Regulate the vendors awesome

Wait is this America or Mexico? NO ENGLISH, so we can't understand a word.
Something is fishy that's all the fruits 🤔yea ok someone will come with the rest of it later 🤣
A "surprise" Health Inspection Check.
Next, they should have...a "surprise" Immigration Check.

Do you want a airplane ✈️ or a boat 🚢
As long as it gets the job done.. good job vendors
Thats how they save money
not a stop and search state - stop harassing people
It’s part of running a business, that’s why there’s a grade system. By your definition, every time the health dept. went and graded a business, they were harassing that business? 🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@bobsmithinson2050 yes - 4th amendment - protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.
You are correct it isn't, but they did agree to be checked when the health department shows up, whenever that is. Don't like it? Don't sign a permit agreeing to it.
@@billymccoy9155 interesting - thanks for sharing - now i want to read the permit agreement -
