I've lived in Senghenydd which is about 4 miles North of Caerphilly Castle since 1964. So many memories as a child during the School Summer holidays sitting on the Green inside the Castle grounds watching the Medieval enactments and other entertainments they had back in the late 60's early 70's. I recall a time probably 1974/75 myself and a few friends were old enough to go on our own to Caerphilly and decided to visit inside the Castle. I remember vaguely we went up one of the spiral staircases and how cold it was even though it was sweltering heat outside. We sat outside on a banking near the leaning tower and a lady in a Green trouser suit passed us, did we jump up and run scared because of hearing stories about the ghost of the Green Lady that walks the Castle grounds 😂😂 Your video is totally amazing, you toured places of the Castle that I've not seen.

I remember as a boy about 6 years old I went to a couple of castles near where I was born in south Wales. Don’t remember the names of them but I remember seeing them and never forgotten them. I’m 56 years old now and live in Australia. So much wish I could take my son to see what I did as a boy. Thanks for the memories

Liked #77, this might be the best castle in my opinion because the use the water as the first line of defense! This medieval castle looks magnificent. I assume the couetyard was newly renovated? Looks like it was created yesterday. Poet and musician hall looks fantastic too, great way to show off to other noblemen and ladies. Great video 😎👍
Could'nt agree more, i loved visiting Caerphilly, the courtyard was rebuilt in the 15th century, so you could say it was newly renovated for sure! hehe, thank you so much for watching our video and commenting!

I hadn’t noticed this when looking through your site. Caerphilly is a great place which I’ve got to know well as I do a lot of work for them regularly fitting all their bat/bird boxes etc.

I would like to see castell Dolbadarn repaired or Dinefwr, having more historical significance to the people of Wales.
We're planning on going to those two castells this year. Dinefwr looks particularly striking to me. Do agree with you though! Thank you Paul for commenting.

Oh! What a big one! Great tour as ever. Technical question: at 6.58 we see the shadow of your camera. What camera and handle do you use? I had assumed from the slight fisheye lens that it was a gopro but the shadow tells me otherwise.
Good question! Thank you for asking, so we use the GoPro hero 8 Black with the Hohem Gimbal - honestly such a great bit of kit wouldn't recommend anything else. Would like to update our equipment to shoot in 4K but that's something we're saving up for so we can showcase some of these beauties better! :D
@@PinnedonPlaces I could defiantly use a gimbal. Would save mea lot of timesabalosong footage in postproduction. I went to buy a new camera two months ago and found out that the capacitor shortage is still ongoing, with Sony as good as not making cameras and no new stock anywhere (a7c I was looking for). Let us hope the situation improves.

Was it built during Edward the first reign?
It was indeed, during his reign in the early 13th century - the castle was constructed between 1268-1290 and he was in power from 1272/1307 :)
