- Diamonds In The Rough was originally released on CD in 2008 as part of the DVD+CD release “Live in the LBC/Diamonds in the Rough”. It is a compilation of b-sides recorded during the making of the band’s self-titled 2007 debut, rarities, covers and other non-album tracks. The 2020 vinyl and digital release of the album has been remastered and is expanded by 5 tracks, featuring the unreleased track “Set Me Free” (recorded during the “Hail To The King” sessions). It also includes other hard-to-find tracks such as the fan-favorite “St, James”, “4AM” and “Lost It All”. The 16 track album also includes the band’s cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, which originally came out in 2009 on the Warner Bros album “Covered”. The vinyl is released on limited edition clear vinyl.

Okay, hands down, the orchestra and like the extra lead guitar in the background during one of the verses (maybe both) has illumined this alternate version.
yeah it feels really weird. Normally its supposed to be a harder hitting, riff based section but then with the orchestra it adds a bit of color and melody, its strange

Their band is worth over 100 mill and they’re still the most humble guys in the world. I’ve seen them twice and I’ve heard the same thing from several bands about how nice they are.
I basically met them with this song, Afterlife will be a reference to them, and these arrangements that made them just great !! A7x forever, México presente banda !!!

I've been playing for 6 years and Im hoping to go to college in around 2 years for music and hopefully make a job out of it! Forget A7X, this is the song that got me into the metal genre as a ten year old child. Man, how time flies. All those fucking years. Now I mostly moved on to shit like Septic Flesh, Amon Amarth, Melechesh etc, but I still listen to their hit songs like Afterlife, M.I.A, Unholy Confessions, etc.
I wonder how they feel, knowing that they were the childhood of a generation?

Musicians hear the individual parts, measures, timing, pitch, octave, ECT. To me while it sounds pretty similar, its still wildly different and theres so much new and unique to this version.

this song brought me back to the best moment in my life
this is tight, the extra instruments just fills it out very nice. It turns a great song into perfect. They don't distract, just compliment and add too, along with the extra guitar. This version makes you wish your favorite artist had a year after they made the record to go over it and improve it, and see both versions every time.
i swear to god this is one of the dopest fucking song i've ever heard. i discovered it last month and am already addicted to it, i can't even hear the word "afterlife" or "when the time is right" without thinking of it and getting a huge need to listen to it. this is like a drug without any side effect other than a dopamine rush to the brain.
Would love to hear a fully orchestral version of this song.
I feel A7X would be perfectly accompanied with a full orchestra with most of their songs. Just like how Metallica did back in the day.
@@logandz they recorded a 78 piece orchestra for the upcoming album on february and are currently on the process of mixing and mastering the whole thing. hopefully it'll release this year.

This may not be my introduction to the band but it's definitely the reason I'm a fan today over a decade later. My husband showed me the song back when we were still just best friends, it's something we still share together :)
Told my friend to listen to this, he asked me "where's the difference?"

my dad really liked aveneged sevenfold it was one of our favorite bands to listen to and he passed away 3 days ago and it hurts sometimes to listen to them but i know he'd like it just as much as me so i don't stop listening
This version has a crisper sound then the original for some reason to me. I know that's not really a defining characteristic for music, but they re-balanced the volumes, the lyrics come through clearer then before, which I like.
it does sound crispier, doesn't it? i imagine it's because UA-cam allows for higher resolution audio than it did back when the original one was published.
The one small thing I noticed was the chorus vocal tracks here lack the reverb the original has.
I love it, the orchestra added another dimension to the song.
This album was such a great period of my life.

I rly like how the violins in the background contrast with the style and the heaviness giving it a light but heavy feel but then it gives the song a true depth that makes it amazing with such a switch the original is just as great considering the violins has it's own section

This makes me want a version thats both versions combined. The original the guitars overtake the orchestra and this one the orchestra overtakes the guitar. This makes me want to see one where the guitars and orchestra are pushing and pulling each other. They overpower each other at points and at certain points come together. Like a battle between Heaven and Hell, Good vs Evil sorta thing.
i agree in wanting a version where they push and pull each other, but this version is absolute trash and disrespectful imho. they not only compressed, but also put Revs vocals more in the background than in the middle or front where it belongs.

I've been a fan since I was a little kid back in 2008 and every single member of the band inspired me to do something not just because I wanted to, but because I felt the world needed it. This song represents Jimmy for me, along with fiction, and I'm happy that I spent most of my life listening to these dudes. I hope I can see them one day.
