Lars has really aged well. He looks great. Family life has grounded him. Watching him makes me proud to still fly the punk flag in my mid 50s.
Always felt his vocals were among the best in all of punk rock. Just a unique, growly, gritty style all his own.

I saw Lars at the State Theater in St. Petersburg, FL open for Dropkick Murphys. It was a memorable show, Lars filled in for the DKM guitarist cause he had broken his hand. I had so much fun!

I remember backpacking around India in 2009 for 6 months, Wayback before wifi everywhere and Spotify etc., I had downloaded 2 CDs on mp3 to my phone, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards and Rancid Indestructible, it was literally the only music I heard through all of India. It kept me sane and I wouldn't change it for modern-day traveling with Spotify and all the money in the world. cramped up in Indian trains for 36 hours, no aircon sharing toilet with hundreds of people, but I didn't care I had my music.
2009….I was on UA-cam…I think I had an IPhone….I guess “way back” is a relative term. Since the the new flu hit things have changed but I saw 09’ and 2019 as more or less the same. The world didn’t really change and there still hasn’t been a real NEW wave of underground rock roll. Ah……to be 30 something again…in that grand ol yesteryear of 2009……:)

I remember catching Lars and the Bastards when they opened up Warped Tour one year in Toronto it was sweet, we had a big area to go nuts since most people weren't able to get into the venue for awhile due to long lineups
In Chicago they had a huge crowd and a circle pit going all the way around the sound tent 😂

The actual hooligans were what we called casuals and formed firms a bit like the Essex boys films. They dressed in designer gear and in 80s would fight punks.in the North. Its a pretty sad scene now for the oldies, tend to prefer metal and hard-core.

Lars is one of the coolest personalities I’ve ever met, so real and down to earth. This is one of the reasons I love Rancid and punk rock 🤙🏻😎🤘🏻
I've still yet to see a Rancid show ( but saw Op Ivy at Gilman back in the day) , but I've seen Old Firm play and seen Lars walking around at a few shows and the guys is a super humble approachable guy. Considering Rancid's popularity as well as Lars' other projects------ one might expect rock star attitude, but absolutely none!

Lars, for me, always reminds me of the talent, aggressiveness and original timbre of an authentic guitarist. I listened to Rancid for years and I was always struck by the motivation Lars showed and that was key for me.
