The theory I heard years ago, was that each character in Halloweentown is a representation of a mental illness or addiction. Boogie is a Gambling addict, Jack has a self identity issue, Sally has self doubt and anxiety issues, the mayor is bi-polar, the doctor is an egotistical narcissist....I could go on for days lol

I always thought they were representing how they died. Like the mayor had his neck snapped, oogie was drown in a sack, sally died from leaping from a tower, barrel drown, shock was hung for being a witch, lock died in a fire.. Etc. Jack im not 100%.
@@arachnesakura9375 I've heard that theory before too, when it comes to Jack, there are a number of things, in the very beginning when he is still a scarecrow, the way he is positioned could be that he was crucified, or when he sets himself on fire that could be another thing, hmmmm that is interesting. How did jack end up as the Pumpkin King?

The one thing that makes the "Jack is Jack Sparrow's" Theory fall apart is Jack Skeleton was burnt alive, he displays this at the beginning of the movie and it was confirmed by Tim Burton himself.
On top of that he sings at one point "to have died in Kentucky, I'm mister unlucky" they found him in the ocean not a lake

BrodieNia Home they’re not. Victor from Corpse Bride is from the Victorian era, Frankenweenie is from the ‘50s , and Jack Skellington is from the early 2000’s.

I haven't heard a good NBC theory for a while lol. My house is literally A NBC museum lol so I love hearing these. Funny how Disney thought this movie was too scary when it was first made so they let Touchstone release it(yes I know Disney owned them) but look at the commercial success it attracted after officially adding the Disney name to it.
7:34 fascinating but sally is most likely several different women all in one seeing as some of her parts seem too big or too small for the rest of her so I mean you are probably not wrong one of her parts maybe the eyes or brain belonged to a witch
These theories make ZERO sense. Why would jack sparrow have a new choice and accent after death? Why would he be a cartoon? And Sally wasn't dead. She is a creation from the old man in the wheel chair. He even says so and is the only one who can repair her hence why she is stuck coming back to him if there is ANY metaphor in this movie it's Sally story. Being bound to the old man. That, to me represents an abusive relationship and how we often return to our abusers or are afraid to leave until we finally see we can survive without them. But maybe that's because that's what happened to me. But it definitely seems to me like it's possible 🤷

Oogie boogie used to be the king of Halloween and was the scariest but then jack came around and got scarier (proven by the awards) then word got around and oogie got scared but was still cocky so he battled jack and lost but he got so embarrassed that he found a cave and hid (before he was a dark figure aka shadow/the dark) which was filled with bugs which created his new form and found an old pair of dice found to grow fond of them which grew his love for gambling and the triplets moved into the house above him and found a tunnel that led to him met him started talking to him and became oogies minions

When I was a *child I use to hate this movie I guess it was just too flashy to my lil eye's. But now that I am grown up I actually rate this movie high in my top 20..*
Same but I feared the movie, not hate it. The character that terrifies me the most is the one hiding under your bed. I still get shivers down my spine if I see a single drawing or picture of him but now…I’d say he has won the 1st place for being the most scariest of all time! And as I grew up, I LOVED this movie and the THIS IS HALLOWEEN song, my mostly favorite characters are the ghost. Why? Because they look so cool. Wish they could’ve gotten more screen time.

Ok, so for everyone who is saying that dr.Finkelstein made sally and blah blah blah here is something for you.We see in the movie that dr.Finkelstein makes some skeleton reindeers for jack but they are pretty much some sort of robots.Then we see that he creates Jewel and for her he kinda gives some of his brain.What I mean is, wouldn't Sally need a brain?Also where in the world would dr.Finkelstein get a brain for her.She clearly isn't a robot and I hardly believe that dr.Finkelstein gave some of his brain for sally.So then he MAYBE got a brain from a dead woman who died because she was accused for witch crafting.Also, did you noticed that Sally planted the deadly night shade in a gravestone which says "WITCH HAZEL".Maybe she was witch Hazel.

I've heard that Abercrombie from Vincent is Sparky from Frankenweenie and then Victor and Sparky from Frankenweenie grew to be Victor and Scraps from the Corpse Bride and then they both died and became Jack and Zero from A Nightmare Before Christmas and the reason that Zero's nose glows red is because in Frankenweenie he was hit by lightning to bring him back to life.
Edgar 'E' Gore from Frankenweenie (Victors lab partner) becomes Igor who is Dr. Finkelstein's assistant.
Elsa van Helsing from Frankenweenie becomes Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice.
Mr. Burgermeister from Frankenweenie and Finis Everglot look identical so they could be the same person.

Ok... for the record, Nightmare Before Christmas was made WAAAAAY before Pirates of the Caribbean. 1993. Pirates of the Caribbean came a decade later.

And a long time ago in my Jr high year I got really scared of these movies made by Tim Burton it only lasted for almost 2 and a half 3 years until I started watching Danny phantom I wasn't so scared of it anymore because why because I was under a lot of stress and pressure because I went threw summer camp and then school I couldn't catch a break then it turned into full blown paranoia under a lot of pressure and stress maybe that's what triggered the whole fear thing I think so I'm not sure 🤔

1. Makes sense.
2. I have not seen James & The Giant Peach. I don’t think these movies are connected.
3. I’m not really that religious so I never had this kind of connection with this movie.

This is my theory of how Jack Skellington died...
Almost everyone who thinks that Jack was a human who died and came to Halloween Town agree that he was burned alive.
But how?How did he end up burning till that point that he died?
In "This is Halloween" we see Jack as a scarecrow being dragged in the town on a made up horse.We see the other town people with torches as they wanted to burn him (to represent how the Pumpkin King came in Halloween Town).So my theory is that Jack was a villager who lived in the 16th or 17th century (judging by how he looked when he came as a scarecrow and other than the fact that scarecrows are a symbol of horror they were used by the villagers to *scarecrows*) and the other villagers burned him alive.But why? Well Jack used to practice dark magic (or something like that) and even tho Tim Burton says that "magic doesn't exist in Halloween Town" I do not take his word in this case.There are facts that prove the otherwise.
They accused him for witchcraft and burned him alive.I also noticed in "This is Halloween" how Jack dances like in the beginning he looked like he was "calling for help" (but since the people who were there wanted him dead they didn't help him) and then he looked like as he was "trying to get away from the fire" or something like that.It makes sense.
Just Fantastic “magic” is science in the 16th and 17th centuries; jack reads a lot of science and uses a lot of mathematical methods to try to decipher Christmas. Makes sense

Maybe Edward scissor hands creator used her brain and heart for Edward scissor hands because she was a failed experiment. which is why she's all cut up and feel insecure and rejected.
OR
what if she had so much surgery after feeling insecure and not good enough and died while getting plastic surgery. and it might explain why she is still so beautiful after death

The theory about him finding God is interesting though I always found this movie to be about the dangers of obsession/addiction. Halloween town is the drab low of his sober mind and Christmas town is the exciting high. However, after the first encounter, he began to obsess over recreating the original feeling but nothing he comes up with ever really satisfies him like his first experience did and ultimately becomes his downfall at the end of the movie only to realize that he has hit rock bottom and has a want and need to recover. The townspeople are Jack's family that don't fully understand what's going on with him but also want to help him. As he obsesses and hides away for weeks they all begin to worry about him and Sally finally realizes how this is going to end and tries to talk sense into him but it's too late. He has gotten to the point where if he's going to get better he has to realize this for himself and wants to change.
Also, Sally could have easily died due to overdose which would be why she's the only one that can see how dangerous Jack's addiction is. She's been there and she didn't get the same happy ending Jack did.
