  • On September 30th, Dave "The Lord" Voelker joined the ranks of legends of all ages and BMX demographric when he was inducted into the USA BMX Hall Of Frame. The ceremony took place down at the Olympic Training Facility in Chula Vista, California. Filled with legends of all kinds and industry heads from generations past, the event was far from something you'd find at a NORA Cup, but BMX nonetheless. Enjoy as Dave runs through a bit of his career highlights during the ceremony...

Voelker was the one rider that I wish I had had the chance to ride with. I rode Dyno because of this guy.. Epic street rider. My father used to yell at me cus in front of his business there was this freshly painted white wall.. and within days of him painting it there were tire marks in a rainbow shape all over it. He would paint it.. I would mark it up. He would paint it.. I would mark it up. The ramps kept getting a little bigger and bigger and I remember reading in one of the freestyle mags about the meet the street comp and Voelker going higher then any other rider on the wall rides.. well that was it.. challenge accepted. Now dont get me wring.. I know I wold never get as high as the LORD did.. but by the end of that summer those black marks went over the window in that wall. I remember my old man lost it at that point and threatened to ground me from that bike for good. lol. Another story.. we had ramps set up at a local multi level parking lot where each level set up about 3 feet higher then the previous one.. skaters actually had the ramps set up and a friend and I arrived and started jumping them.. they were only a couple feet high so after jumping from the lower level up the 3 or so feet to the next level a few times.. which had the skaters yelling "more more.. higher higher" we took their ramps and moved them "up" onto the grade which was like a bank between levels... so the harmless jumping ramp got darn near close to vert as it was set onto the bank between levels.. well I went for it.. and got so high that my forks bent on my Pro Comp. I thought that bike was bulletproof till that day. I couldnt believe I bent my Dyno forks. lol. Those were the days.. as a parent now of 2 adults and 3 kiddos under 13 I am so glad none of them did the stupid things I did. Anyways.. as stupid as it was it was the best time of my life really.. and mostly cus of me trying to emulate Dave Voelker

During the heyday of Freestyle their were so many good riders. But I didn't truly appreciate how good Dave was until years later. And what a very humble person he is also.

      Hey ChrisSeals05
I agree!!! I was 13 when the Dyno tour came to town in Toronto (Mississauga.... a burb)....Dino , him, and Hernandez toured North America that year...but regardless of that...he was teammates with Dino...on Dyno...Josh was GT...but still....Dyno was GT....something happened there that went bad for the Lord to not even acknowledge those 15 years....Dyno and Voelker were symbiotic!!! I am upset he doesn’t even bring up Dyno or Gt never mind Deluca
