This is a fantastic game. Aside from a few bugs and performance issues, I really think this game has a lot going for it. It's like Pokémon but does a lot of things better.
While trying to become a ranger, I did find a couple of strategies that beat the Ranger Captains regardless (both work best when used by fusions, but can somewhat work without) - the first strategy takes four turns, unless something goes very wrong, and involves an electric mardusa (my first bootleg was an electric carniviper and I got attached) and some multitargeting wind attacks, and the second involves a good boy keeping a ghost from moving on, and is so effective that I got the good boy to stop Clee-0's gambits from cutting the fight short because there was absolutely no threat (I haven't tried that second one against Penny Dreadful, but I suspect she'd be the only one that can counter it).
This is definitely my favorite review video of yours, and for a game that could certainly use some more attention! I love how this isn't a review/10 video or a direct comparison to the pokemon games or anything like that, You gave an honest analysis of the game's highlights and what makes it great and that's really refreshing to see. It gave this video a nice informal feel, like someone excitedly telling a friend about something they love! Also hyped to hear your take on open world games, there's a lot to talk about there.
This game reminded me why I love pokemon so much. It captured a feeling I haven't had since as far back as Sun and Moon. That sense of exploration, wonder, and discovery has always been the biggest thing making Pokémon special to me, and this game very much managed to recreate that feeling. This game really does feel like the actual open world Pokémon game we've always been asking for. Amazing video as always!
Something I want to correct is that you can get bootlegs from rouge fusions before the the post game (that's how i got my beloved beast-type Puppercut now Southpaw). But overall great video!
one quality of life improvement is when recording/catching a beast prevents accidental knock-outs, it is always possible to bring the monster HP to 1 when recording, unlike pokemon where your damage could be too strong and lose your chance of capturing.

I love this game. So much so, that I collected all the achievements. Now I'm just waiting for the dlc to come back to it.
