Christ says to know people by their fruits. Overall, in their social life, the Mormons bear good fruit. Agree/disagree?

I was raised catholic, but my family was never much into the faith, so I deviated from it for years only to find it back recently.
It went like this: I was a highly skeptical and ignorant agnostic, but when shit hit the fan, I started researching about religion, and after a while I decided to study a bit more about the Abrahamic religions, buying the story that all those were connected. The only "religious book" I had at my house was a quran that a muslim friend had given me as a gift, so I started digging that. I started to notice the inconsistence with its teachings, but kept reading anyways, and looking the "official" interpretation, when I realized the ahruf and hadiths only made it worse I stopped and went looking for something else. I never made into a mosque, although I had some muslim friends inviting me to join their meetings.
I then reached the closest church I had from my home, a LDS one. I joined their "sacrament meetings" and other meetings accompanied by elders, I was given a book of Mormon and again started reading it. This was the point when I bought a bible, as I was told the book of Mormon was an addition to the bible. I realized that despite the format and style being different, almost the same message was delivered, when I started reading the book of Mormon right after the quran. And that commonality spiked my interest, so I was back researching about it to try to find where they would intertwine. And I started noticing not only in their teachings and books, but also their prophets shared a lot of similarities.
Later I moved away from that church, but what brought me back to Christ was their constant question of "Do you think what you are reading is true? Was it revealed from God? Ask God to show you its legitimacy.", which I asked, and I the answer was delivered, not about the book of Mormon, but the bible.
All of this has made me aware of Jesus, so I am thankful to all this happening to me to find the way back to Jesus.

Here are some interesting similarities I learned between islam and mormonism:
Both "prophets" were considered by their followers to have had little formal education.
Both "prophets" reportedly inspired by angelic visits.
Both "prophets" left behind authorized books claimed to be revelations from God.
Both "prophets" were persecuted by locals and forced to relocate.
Both "prophets" established theocratic city-states during their ministry.
Both celebrate acts of migration in response to persecution as core elements of faith and identity.
Both were founded with specific organizational and hierarchical structures to govern their respective communities.
Both Caliphate and Mormon succession systems are based largely on committee.
Both include beliefs about the end times and divine judgment, with distinct narratives and teachings on resurrection and the afterlife.
Both religions have a history of condoning polygamy.
Both "prophets" had practiced polygamy and child marriage.
Both historically exhibited hostility toward groups that do not conform to their beliefs.

There are some similarities among Mormons and Catholics. We share a similar church organization. We both believe in free will. We both believe in salvation by faith through works. Yes, much of their theology is weird in our eyes. But some of our theology is weird through theirs. I get along well with them and try to treat them with respect.

LDS and Catholics have a lot in common. social values but also in a belief of a hierarchical church with an "infallible" leader. sadly most LDS go agnostic after leaving, not Catholic

The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ from ancient prophets of a branch of Israel.

If you take the characters from the tablets and take all the words that make up the book of Mormon, each character from the tablets would have to represent 80 words. Seems fishy to me

Simple math. Here is the formula.
(# of words in the book of Mormon) ÷ (# of characters on the tablets) = around 80
Also, Jesus said the gates of Hades would not prevail against his Church in Mathew 16:15-19.
The Mormon claim of restoring the true church makes Jesus's words wash away and that is something to be reasonably concerned about. Especially when somebody is making a truth claim.
I think there is a lot of good that the Mormon church does. You all are really charitable, quite pleasant, and have good family values. And I respect those things. Seems the Mormon church believes in some quite incoherent theology unfortunately.
I'm happy to have a respectful dialogue with you if you are interested

@@taylormoore3121 What tablets are you speaking of? As far as I am aware only 11 witnesses ever got to behold the original tablets that the BoM was translated from.
A witness of the Book of Mormon comes from reading the Book of Mormon and having the Holy Spirit reveal all truth. Atheists will say you can't turn water to wine and all we can say is read the Bible and discern it for yourself. Of course atheists trust in the 'arm of the flesh' and are often more concerned with confirmation bias and won't bother reading it. So as a non-expert of reformed Egyptian hieroglyphics and no knowledge of the dimensions/character count of the golden tablets, it really doesn't matter to me what the 'experts' say about such things. Did Jesus feed the 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fishes? I believe he did and I don't require further explanation on the mechanistic details to believe.
Mathew 16:15-19 is an interesting verse, but it could have a different meaning than what you imply. From what I've heard Peter was crucified. Does that mean hell prevailed? The next verse speaks about the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. So perhaps it is talking about the Church in Heaven.
      What theology is incoherent?
