  • NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Scepter 1238) Presented here, is the B-side of the third of four singles produced by Bob Crewe for teen vocalist, Matthew Reid (David Charles L'Heureux) between October 1961 and June 1963. Recorded at Bell Sound Studios in New York City in August 1962, the Scepter Records release had the Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio tune, 'Faded Roses' as the plug side but the flip, 'Tomorrow', which Crewe composed with arranger Sid Bass, is the side that collectors desire. With a vocal style and sound similar to west coast singer, Chad Allen, 'Tomorrow' is pure New York Teen Pop of the highest order, but neither side of the disc made a dent as far as record sales are concerned. The next stop for the young singer was Decca Records for one non-charting single in September 1964. The next two releases came in 1966 for Claridge Records credited to Casey Paxton; the first of which was actually quite good. Following a three year absence form recording, in 1969, one single on Philips featured two original songs written by the singer who was back credited as Matthew Reid. The disc came and went without notice. The passing of two years brought forth a new recording for Kirshner Records in the summer of 1972. Credited to David LaRue, like the previous releases, it too also tanked. A five year gap in recording was followed by one single for Claridge Records in 1975 that would include another name change on the record label to D.C. LaRue. That disc may not have been a success but the name change would finally stick and a succession of singles and LP's between 1976 and 1980 on Pyramid and Casablanca Records aimed at the then new dance/disco scene, followed with rewarding results.

A fantastic sounding song. Just came across two acetates from Bell Sound Studios in there original Bell envelope with Crewe’s writing from 1963.

Acetates are fascinating musical artifacts. Nice score that you acquired those Bell acetates with the writing of the legendary Bob Crewe on the sleeve.
