Girl!! Nice ‘guns’ from milking those goats & taking care o’business! 💪🏼 We are on & off the road, always keeping our heads on a swivel & doing what we can when we’re home. Busy bees. 🐝 Met up with Mark & Sugar this past weekend & we always chat about your families. Warms my heart. ♥️ You guys’ll have to join us someday. 🤗
❤️ You tell me when & I'll be there! I was just looking at your tour schedule yesterday and was trying to figure how to make it to a show sometime! Be safe out there! ❤️❤️❤️
You are welcome anytime! Just let us know 🤗💕
I moved outta the Eastern KY Mtns 25 years ago for work in a City. Repeated injuries over the years in Extreme Heavy Industrial Manufacturing has disabled me, Forced retired and moving back to those old peaceful Mtns this Summer. Its very Rural and closest McDonald's is 45 minutes away! I can't wait to work in my new gardens, enjoy the peace and quiet sitting on my front porch surrounded by my 30 private acres.
Praying 🙏 and Prepping every day. Blessings to y'all
Sounds like heaven❤
I live in western KY and know exactly how you are feeling.
I am from Eastern Ky as well and same as you, no work in those parts so moved to where I could provide a life for myself. I’m to young to retire but back issues etc but still working to provide. I’m stuck in the rut and have to have my paycheck
My ancestors settled Franklin county 😊
Eastern Kentucky is always home❤
We have been bombarded with people asking to buy a few acres of land to build on, we have no plan to sell an inch. One couple said they looked up how much land we had on the assessors page and we were greedy and didn’t need that much. Our response was, “Get off my land, and don’t you ever come back”. Our neighbors have had the same issue of unwanted solicitations. Sure we own a few hundred acres, but we started buying it when we were first married, I was 19 and had a plan. Now 38 years later the plan came together, but there were a lot of used cars, praying for paydays and thrift shop outfits to be able to be debt free and have what we now own. When you have a goal, don’t let anything stop you!
My kids wanted me to move into town when I was widowed and my Mom wanted me to move into her planned HOA community when she went into assisted living. Um, no. I love to have horses walking down the street, goats living behind me, horses living cattycorner to me, dogs, feral cats, coyotes and racoons. I love waking up to the crow of roosters. And I love being far away from an HOA. I've struggled keeping up my land but I'm gaining on it. I'm staying here and I'm really blessed.
But yeah, make sure you can do it before you try. Make sure you are comfortable with a best friend and are of the mind of inviting him to dinner should the need arise.
The issue across the board when you have city people or say California/New Yorkers that move to rural areas is they hate the new policies and crime and invasion and all that in their old area but move to new areas that are more conservative and freedom minded and try to change it to be more like the place they ran from. People need to wake up on both sides of the fence and realize the right and left are the wings of one poisonous bird. We need to get back to being in more small communities, freedom minded, Americans first, support our military and police. People are so brainwashed and divided and this is all by design.
I live in rural west PA and shocked how many Californians live here
@@psynurse
Especially in Brooklyn, NY.
Yep !!
Wake up is the key word.
Proverbs 6:10-11
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
A lot of people don't realize that New York has gorgeous farmland. Big dairy areas, that are very different from New York City. Much like every other state. If SHTF happens, New Yorkers will be hitting those areas well before they make it to other states. In fact my husband and I took a vacation road trip from Michigan, up through Canada, and down the east coast. What we learned was, every State has the big cities they are known by, but also very rural areas, some well off and some very poor. We are all the same across this great land if we take the time to find out about each other.
Yep!
I agree. Don’t just listen about the place (s), go find out about them
Yourselves. I do believe the further away from the metro cities the better!
All that gorgeous farmland and big dairy areas will turn into subdivisions with a 7 / 11 on the corner.
Seeing your daily videos is one of the highlights of my day. 🙂
Same😊, the farm animals are angels to me. OhI love Sugar Babies too!!
I just love that each new video has a lovely NEW intro of the farm
Mine too!
Loving all your farm babies. Very heart warming.
I couldn't agree more ❤
I just read this quote fromJoel Salatin’s recent book Homesteading Tsunami, “the only thing worse than starting late is starting never.”
He’s a favorite!!
The further you get from the cities the longer you might survive the violence our government is causing.
I was your 77th like and I was born in 1977 🤙🇺🇲
Yes, the further out the safer in general, but if or when the country is lost, none of it is going to be safe.

Minnesotan here.
When the riots happened in 2020 my nephew & his family sold their home & moved 30 Miles outside of Minneapolis. My niece & her family sold their home & moved 20 miles from Minneapolis.
I retired & sold my home & moved 45 miles away from the left wing dystopian nightmare.
Last one out, turn off the lights.
We're about an hour north of the cities! So happy we didn't buy down there.
I lived in south Minneapolis in the late 80s 90s then moved. When the riots were going on a few years ago, & the looting , defund police etc ...I was horrified. I can't imagine people especially with families staying there.
I pressure canned 12 quarts of meat and 6 pints of salmon this last weekend!!
Nice work!!
Patera I agree with you! This is not the world I grew up in. This world is crazy and we’re all in real trouble!
How so ¿ Elaborate
My new neighbor from NY is a Godsend!!! I just adore her. I hit the jackpot!
Lots of nice folks in NYC. We lived there in the early 2000s. Just because the city government is a corrupt toilet, it doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of good people who live there and are heartbroken over what’s happened to their once great city.
I left an urban area in California, sold my house and moved to the SouthEast. I had no job or house. I had been researching possible areas to move to for several years. I lived out of my van, while deciding where to move to. I was able to quickly find an affordable house, paid for it in full and became mortgage and debt free.
I now live up in the Appalaichian mountains, where my neighbors are cows.
They’re the best neighbors to have!! I know, we have some too. It’s quiet!!!
We left the Los Angeles area and found "our" people in South Dakota! We left fast, threw the critters in the car and it was peddle to the metal!
Fantastic! I once lived in Redondo. Don't miss California except for the weather and the beauty
❤ The Dakotas are stunning.
I am living in Southern California, I am 72 and have my 95 year old momma to look after. I would love to get out but for me it is impossible. So I am prepared as best as I can so is mom. I have my plans am trusting God for His protection and peace. I will continue to bloom where God planted me. Keep the faith and hold on tight to the hem of His garment because this is going to be a wild ride. 🙏❤️
We still have family there that can’t leave due to being older. They do the best they can and luckily live rural.
Girl!! I work in Memphis and live in Tipton County. Memphis is literally HELL. CRIME is deplorable and women are NOT safe in that city!! Truth Patera!!!
Memphis ranks number 1 for the worst crime in the US. I’m in Medina and it’s headed this way. Jackson is ranked 4th on crime for the state.
I live in North, Mississippi too and work in Memphis near Bill Morris Parkway. I would love to get a job closer to home; but there are not as many corporate jobs in rural area.
I grew up in Memphis Getwell and Elliston area. That is a major scary area now. I will not even drive over there now.
Hey neighbor I moved from Memphis 5 months ago to Fayette county. Best thing I've ever done
So glad I didn't take a job there back in 2009
I agree with what you are saying. I would add pray on it and ask God if you should move, if where you are thinking is where you should go. I live in a city neighborhood/suburb. We tried and wanted to move awhile ago. God blocked us, and some trials we went through it ended up being a blessing we had stayed. God knows what is up ahead for each of us, and he has a plan for where each of us needs to be. He can protect his children wherever he places you. We need to pray and ask so we can obey and follow his plan, whether that means staying put or moving.
I sold my house in the city and moved to the middle of nowhere where I now have safety & chickens 😂
Those from out of town flocking to my area have knocked locals out of the housing market. Lot of resentment here over that too.
That is pretty much nationwide
We had a beautiful baby herford born today. Her name is Trumpet . 🇺🇲
Aww. Love the name!
We have made plenty of bad decisions in our lives but going from Los Angeles to extremely rural Wyoming was the best decision we ever made. It’s not for everyone. If you need Walmart, it’s a 3 hour round trip from where we live. Fine with us.
The people here are simply incredible. If you can make it work leaving a large city, my thought is do it. Best to anyone making this decision.
Did you use to work for B. Braun? I knew someone there that was planning to make this move many years ago
We were almost 50 today! Spent 2 hours out in the sun listening to a sermon on words and Bibles! Perfect!
Raised on a farm, married a farmer no one ever says life is easy, love farming ,god bless all of you, where ever you are in life 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
At 79 I have lived in big cities all over the USA and also down red dirt roads. Bottom line is our society has evolved to tribes of city libs and country conservatives since WWII. City people are either rich or have their hand out. Country folk are the survivors and don’t measure their success in dollars but generational contributions. Thank GOD I was born a country boy and was endowed with those traits.
Congratulations Patara. You look so healthy again. Granny Witching did good. Love ya from behind enemy lines in CA 😊

I grew up in a small town in IN, then moved to Orlando FL and I love it here, anf people think its bad here, but what I witness every day is kindness, last night, for example, homeless guy sitting by door trying to keep warm, a woman came out handed him a bag with 2 wrapped sandwiches soup a piece of fruit and a drink, he fed his dog one another guy walked by turned and walked back over and gave him the coat off his back. and people may think FL is a bad place but all I usually see is this kind of kindness , it works for us but many of my long time friends have moved to Tennessee , my husband , has a lot of family there...
We moved to a small town in the suburbs of Denver 30 yrs ago. It was quiet and Conservative. There was very little crime. Homelessness was non existent. Now our community is liberal, crime is terrible, homelessness, 10,000 in Denver alone now in our community as well. The building of homes has been non stop . Every square inch of land has been sold for row homes, condos, apartments etc. the price of homes is outrageous here. Now we are older and would not be able to get out but……I have a garden which I have expanded and will continue to do so. I’ve learned how to can and preserve food. I mill my own flour and have stock of wheat berries. No HOA here so we can have 4 chickens. If we have to, we will get rid of our lawn and plant more food. I do have a plan.
Patera, my sons Finally woke up. They are busy & stacking to the rafters . The one got such a great deal on EMP shield he got us one for our house. But I am still getting MORE candles, solar lantern etc. My prayers were sure answered, Girl I was worried sick. God is so so good.
Still hoping and praying my sons come around.
I pray every day my sons and my friends and family all wake up. 🙏😔🙏
Don’t Pataras sons live with her?

Well we live in the suburbs. My best friend lives about 1.5 ours south in the “boonies” and has said when push comes to shove for us to buy an RV and park it on their land.
We moved out of the city 4 years ago and bought our 24 acre family compound homestead 18 miles outside Portland Oregon. Some would say were still to close to the city buts its been working. This is a good rural community of like minded people.

I found your channel about a year ago and have been following your advice. I am a 74 year old woman living in a very small town in the Rocky Mountains. I have been stocking up and stocking up on food. I joined a gym - the only one for nearly 100 miles - and I take balance classes there and chair yoga to try to build strength and stamina. In the summer I will take the water aerobics class. It has been a big adjustment moving from a large city in Florida to a very, very small town in the frigid mountains, but it has been a good move. The people here are close knit and helpful. One example of this happened today. Somehow our town received a donation of 46,000 pounds of shredded cheese!!! The fire department and senior center and other agencies are contacting people to come and get 5 pound bags of cheese. We are given so much food here that when I went to the little grocery store here last week, I only spent $12. This is the best decision we made by moving here. I encourage folks in the big cities to get out. Small town living is so much better, less stressful, less expensive. Our town even provides free rides to and from the city which is 2 hours away. Plus a lot of the men in town are on the local posse and that brings a strong sense of security. I would never want to live in a big city again. If you're considering leaving the city - do it!! It is much more peaceful and more enjoyable.
I lived in the country for years, nothing but farms and cattle ranchs. They came in built a big middle and high school, then builders started buying the land, building subdivisions left and right, then crime went up. We got out, moved three towns over, way out in the country, only for the cattle rancher across the steet, the one behind us to sell, now subdivisions going up here also. Theres no place to run! 😢 There wont be any country living from the looks of things. And crime will start here also. 😢
Sadly the younger generation doesn't want to take over the family farms and many farmers are selling. Same thing happening in Upstate SC. There are subdivisions popping up in the middle of nowhere.
We have the same problem here! I don't know if you'll find it anywhere now.
Our deal has been if we sell and move where are we going to go? The price of houses nowadays, there is no way we can do those huge payments!!!! We are just wondering what to do. My gut says stay where you are!!
Trust your gut
Have the tools to defend yourself and prep like it's 1920's.
Thank you everyone!!!
We’ve been in the boonies for awhile and I can tell you, tools and knowledge are super important. Knowledge is key. Bring a tool shed and a full bookshelf and then learn from your old timers/ neighbors. Don’t reinvent the wheel. It’s always an adventure. Enjoy the challenge or it will crush your spirit.
My Husband and I would love to live in a more rural area. Unfortunately we can’t afford to move at this juncture. Hoping that since we are on the outskirts of “the big city” we will be okay…😬
Yep….I’m one of those people living in a once really rural area in East TN that hates all the people coming here. Where there once was nothing but farms 10 years ago, all the farms have been sold off and subdivision upon subdivision built. The litter in the side of the roads has become disgusting and getting anywhere almost a nightmare with traffic. I moved here 14 years ago to get away from even the small cities and have a country style life and that’s all but gone due to all the people moving here and bringing their politics with them.
Same here in eastern NC.
I live in a rural area. They have started putting houses in everywhere and we are not happy with it. I wish we could interview people before they were allowed to move in. Most are NOT like-minded.
@@susanmyer1 That's the plan. They are called "change agents."
Went to visit in-laws over the weekend and we got bombarded with our poor choices of heading north after retiring in 2 years and preparing to bug out to my mom’s if necessary before then- we “are getting too old to deal with winter in northern Michigan” and “you won’t be able to bug out if anything happens”, are we supposed to prepare to bug in? We live in a small city/ large village way too close to the state capital to bug in, besides we don’t own where we are- the current home is provided by one of our jobs so we will have to move. They didn’t have persuasive enough arguments to change our minds. Part of our reasoning is my family is in northern Michigan, and his family is way too close to Chicago for me. Besides we have committed our future to God. He will provide a home when the time is right.
My biggest thing has always been..if things get crazy get the heck away from people. Just my feelings. Some people find comfort in numbers but…nope you can’t trust people when things are possibly going crazy.
ZERO TRUST
We moved from the city, went debt free, and didn’t have a job at first. We found work, but it was much less income, but being debt free we didn’t need much. We didn’t have a homestead yet. By the time we moved onto this acreage, we were financially more steady. Have a plan and a backup plan.
I shared this in my town fb group and I had horrible backlash.
So I will share this here since you folks are awake.
I had an Amazon delivery a package today.I was outside at the time. The driver was in his early 20s spoke English but was definitely NOT American. Id guess middle eastern.
He hands me my package and says " do you like my van" I said what? I heard what he said but was very confused by the question. Then he repeated it " do you like my van" then points to it.I stood there confused then he tells me They gave him that van and he could kidnap little children in it.
Then he walked away and left.
I did file a report at the police station in case anything happens and posted it for people in my area to be aware since its getting nice outside and kids will be outdoors. I called Amazon to report my concerns. All three people on Amazon I tried explaining the situation to hardly spoke English too.
That is scary.
Patara, I really wanted to get some canned foods and some stuff to make some meals today, but after watching your video from yesterday, I just told myself, no, can’t take any chances. Patara said not to go alone!! I’m 71 years old and not in great health. Love you and James and your family!!!🩷🥰
Get a pal and get some things in so you’ll feel safe and fed going forward. Maybe a neighbor can help you or a senior ride service organization. Good food in the home will be important. Get some supplies if you can.
Maybe another option for grocery shopping is if your grocery store offers a 'buy on line' and have them delivered. Some also offer for the customer to buy their groceries on line, then pick them up at a designated area marked off in the parking lot of the grocery store.
I've done both for specific items. Yes, I prefer to pick out my own loaf of bread or a bunch of bananas but I will say the times I have done either option, I've had very good results. Hope you are able to maybe try these options and/or find a good shopping buddy! blessings, wish you the best.
@@lisamariesmith3610 thank you for your kind words!

I've got no debt, own a homestead, in the Western NC Mountains and a home in Florida where I'm currently caring for my very elderly parents. However, when I bought the farm, I did well, because I grew up in a farming family.
I'll just add something to what Patara said about buying land or an existing homestead, and that is this: not only do you want to buy in an area without much crime, sex offenders etc., but you WANT to know WHY the person is selling. In the mountains, we've got areas without the ability to dig for well water, flood zones if you have creeks, crazy developers, that turn what was a rural area into a congested "vacation hot spot", AND lands that were farmed by commercial growers where the soil is now shot. Some of this is fixable, but may cost MORE than you think. I'm very lucky to have owned this land for almost 40 years, but due to my job, I rented it, and the tenant burned both the house and Barn down. Now with my parents, needing care, my husband passing away from cancer last year, I've got a lot of work to bring this place back, and I'm 1000 miles away. At 65 years old, I've got to timber, and rebuild everything. My kids are scattered around the Country with their kids, so it's going to be a HUGE undertaking. Don't bite off more than you can chew! Try to stay away from these planned "summer homes" where City folks come up for a few months and then lease thru companies weekly or monthly. Those people don't care how they treat YOUR land, and very often you are stuck in the same boat with people who don't see eye to eye with you and these developments are on less than an acre, so it becomes VERY congested. Investigate everything!
I dream of a mountain lifestyle, little Switzerland in the blue ridge mountains, I at least will visit someday,I'm 58, decent health and Indiana is where I'm coming from.👃
I had 10 good years living on 6 across in Georgia. Had to move to Tennessee in a small town. Arthritis is bad and have heart disease. Canned lots of food from a big garden. I would tell city people to learn homesteading skills and don't be afraid to get your hands dirty.
This insight is so important! I wish you the best in getting your farm built back up and running. 😊

I wouldn't mind living in a one room cabin on top of a mountain in KY or WV that is very remote. One of your commenters stated that people are moving to TN or FL from California and bringing their beliefs with them,. They try to change the scenery to what they left. right now you say that, but one room on a mountain top would get old very fast.

I'm working my garden here southeast Texas. We accepting one more freeze then the veggies in the greenhouse are going outside. I have some my cool weather plants out already. Grow, grow and sharing extra plants with my community.
Just want to put this out there. Many, and I mean MANY people can't just up and leave the city or populated suburb for a ton of different reasons. Also, it's kind of hard to leave and move away from a good paying job when you're a year or two from retirement! People may be better off if you can't move out of a city, to have a 'back up' plan. Try to find a relative, or group of like minded folks to hook up with outside of a city if you can. It won't be easy as most people want friends/relatives to hunker down with for obvious reasons. Good luck.

We relocated to a small rural town in west Tennessee but chose to be in town instead of in the more rural part because of our age & lack of experience. My husband drives an hour & half each way to Memphis for work so that was also a factor. We are able to have a very large garden areas & chickens even though we're inside city limits. We utilize our both front, back & side yards for gardening-so we make it work and will be debt free in time for retirement in 6 years. The point is that you have to be really honest and evaluate every aspect of the decision to move out.
If you are not able to move at this time let where you are be a classroom…even if that means just getting homestead books from the library! As long as we are learning we are moving forward!!! ❤
Hey Goat Crush from Michigan 😊 My exit strategy is to move to Texas which is close to our family land. Work in Texas then to my one acre scared as hell but I know I have to do this for Me & my 26yr old Daughter. Prayer , practice and preps.

Saw a film on UA-cam . Cities go first, this includes stores, neighborhood houses, supply trucks. Then once that is ravaged then those who survive will head to farms. So eventually it could come to rural areas for those who make it that far.
Might be the reason they want to take our little friends.
I live in a mostly rural county, small towns - but - the next county south of us is booming with the overflow from a very large metro area. They are expanding highways up here to us and building a huge new semi conductor facility. I wonder how long it will be.
Whatever you do, especially and even if it is family, get it in writing.
I can’t afford to get out so we have prepped with a year of food. Garden starts next week. We will have to fight it out and pray God keeps under his wing.
I spend six months a year in Arizona and the other six at my brother's in a rural area in Minnesota.
We're both in our 70's and just last year he quit gardening because he is just too old to keep it up.
I would like to garden while I am there but the reality is, we're just too old to do it.
But we do both have decent retirement funds so will be okay I believe.

Just one word of caution- while I would never willingly move to a city, 160-ish years ago, things happened in small towns between neighbors and even families that aren’t talked about to this day. Holding fast to what I have and where I live.. God will move me when and if it's right. But I am always looking. Life is crazy but I keep my eyes on the LORD and prep my home accordingly. LOVE YA ALL...
I love the mama bear in you. Becoming a mother makes us who we are. Strength, knowledge, compassion, empathy, and the i will take no BS from no one. Its such a blessing. Keep on keeping on. You rock patera. Thanks for doing the things and for the motivation. ❤
Same here in New England. As they say if you don’t like the weather 20 minutes it’ll change😀
Whenever people move somewhere and then want to change it to be where they left is craziness.
Locals don’t appreciate it a bit.
Temps got to 94 just 30 miles north of Dallas area today. Ugh! First time I can recall, that I had to turn on the AC in February
Denton?
@@rosanneciccia7918 yep…Haslet too!
@@countryblends its 93 on Denton
We left the city 19 years ago and so glad we did. Moved to my parents farm .❤
I sent a reply to yesterday’s broadcast. I felt so loved by your subscribers. You are my hero! Thank you so much for the feedback you give us everyday.
Patara , You are a song of healing and the number one you are is. Thank you for loving me.
Grew up on a farm.
Then bought a farm & raised kids there after I got married.
Several years after hubby died I sold the farm to one of my kids & moved to a bigger town with current hubby. After several years we moved to a smaller town & it’s a very nice smaller town.
But if circumstances were right I’d move back to the country in a heartbeat.
Country life is not “easy” so anyone considering moving to the country just know it takes work but it’s certainly worth it!!
I agree with Patera 💯.
In Michigan we are getting a terrible storm , then a time of quiet, and another storm with a huge drop in temperatures 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️
We'd leave our area, but I couldn't do that to my elderly parents.
March in like a lamb out like a lion. Hoping March 1st is a lion because my brain is saying get in the dirt!😂
I got in it a bit today, and boy did it feel good😂
Yep same here 😂
Easter frost too..
Last year I took note. Snow March 1, severe storms March 31. Old wives tale.
We have a late starting season. It has been know to snow here in May and freezing temps. One time it snowed on the 4th of july! but it wasn't a lot lol.
Love you and your animals ❤️
Yes please!! Get out of the city while you can before it gets worse!!!
some people simpl cannot leave their current home for various reasons.
I've been getting alot of thoughts ( that aren't mine) that the sand is running out of the hour glass....Patera you motivate me when I don't want to go outside and do my chores- I'm grateful to have my chores to do outside its just a combo of going through that great perimenopause time in my life at the same time---- so thank you for helping me get my butt in gear. Live your patriotism ❤
I went to Cabela's this weekend and their ammunition selection was very low and limited. At the local store near Seattle eggs costs $6.50 a dozen. Be careful out there peeps.
🎉👋
Eastern Colorado 70 on Monday and snow wind 20 degrees on Tuesday ❤
I do remember this is what you and other homesteaders have said to do regarding a source of income still coming in when you first move to the country. Thank you for your words of wisdom and strength and I am looking forward to being closer to nature and working with my hands as God intended me to. ❤❤❤
I hear you on the finicky weather! We were 63 here in SE ND today and tomorrow we are looking at 3-5" of snow and -20 windchill!? Like, WHAT!? 🤣🤦🏼♀️
Awwww! Bless Tweetie's heart- she has her own unique way of eating her treats! 🥰
🙏🏻💪🙏🏻
Love you girl! You are spot on! Bless you. Sometimes I wish I was further out, but here I am...and yes, I think we are out of time!
