Absolutely brilliant case and design. This would be a fantastic daily wear and the skipping hour hand would be great for people who travel across time zones
I currently own the Grand Seiko SBGX261 9F62, I purchased new back in 2018... And I simply love it. The other High Accuracy Quartz I own, is the Longines Conquest VHP with the L288 movement. I believe both Quartz and Mechanical can be luxurious!
@@fishstickssrn3909 whilst I wouldn’t presume which watch someone else prefers the GS is in a different league to Longines, accuracy may be on par but the GS will blow it out the water in terms in materials, finish, quality and being 100% in-house.
@@fishstickssrn3909 The minus in the Longines for me would be that it's only 50 meters water resistant. Their non-V.H.P. quartz is 300 water resistant. Both are in their Conquest line.
If I had the cash right now, this would be my watch. Blazing accuracy, impeccable design and specs suitable for everyday/lifelong wear AND you can wear it outside without being robbed because it's "just a Seiko". I love, love love it!
I'd absolutely look towards including one.(quartz movement) This has been a big bone of contention and with my expanding collection of automatics in the sub $2K category, the hassle of reseting my watches isn't worth the extra expense for an automatic movement that holds no residual value because of the movement itself. So many people buy themselves an automatic movement many of which are "pseudo in house" and neither that nor the case materials hold value. Plus the added maintenance costs of an automatic simply makes no sense. I really think that up to a certain price point quartz is the way to go. What that price is? Well that's for another rant. Time and Tide Rocks!!!
Also, lots of automatics = lots of servicing down the road. I have two - Oris and Rolex - and I now enjoy a great selection of tough, accurate, hassle-free quartz watches, still of good quality but at a fraction of the price. 👍
Dear GS, Please now update the 37mm version with this new movement and add some interesting dial deiagn known from the mechanical versions and I will get one watch from you ASAP!!!
I got married about 6months ago. Me and the misses have never really owned any nice jewellery, but i got her a really nice diamond ring and got myself a really, really cheap ring 😂 but she was happy. Anyway long story short, i like watches and the plan was to get myself a nice watch once I saved n scrimped. Last month I finally got the sbgp005 I really wish I had it for the wedding. Btw, No video I watched did justice to this 44GS 9f. The indices and hands actually sparkle like diamonds when in sunlight. This shouldnt be possible from 'just' metal Anyway hope you get it .
Just bought one of these. The 44GS case was the deciding factor. I’m sure more GS watches will follow it. Maybe one of the SD GMT with the lumed bezel next now that I have something lower profile with the SGBP005
I agree that quartz 9 times out of 10 does not make sense for luxury timepieces. But GS, the intento of the technology is a different story. The craftsmanship is impeccable and they make quartz sexy.
SBGT241G (9F83) day date model with 5 second accuracy per year. Only flaw is having to stop the watch to set the hour hand, good that this is resolved as it’s a pain in a watch that’s all about accuracy. Other wise a great watch!
So why isn't the second hand moving in this video - shouldn't a quartz watch always be "on"? And I don't think it's hacking seconds since the crown doesn't appeared pulled out.
Buy an SGG729 and save a lot of money and have 99.9 percent of this. It is accurate to about 1 second a month (the one I have. It even has the same band) and it was just over $125, three years ago. Looking at it from a few feet away, you can't tell them apart. Seiko is the best at the low end of the price range.
This is hilarious. I can't understand why ANYONE would consider quartz to be inferior to mechanical. Quartz is superior to mechanical in every way possible. This is especially true for a Grand Seiko 9F movement, which is designed to be maintenanced, can be regulated, and will outlast the lifetime of its owner. For the first 50 years of ownership, pretty much the only thing you need to do is change the battery every 3 years. The cost of ownership is far less expensive than that of a fancy, and outdated, mechanical movment.
Hi. I want to purchase. I'm worried about chipping or breaking the ceramic bezel. It's out there. And it's expensive and seeing that it's a limited edition, it's probably not repairable. Has yours ever got damaged? Hope not.
This day may never come, but WHEN Seiko has the confidence to "define, test, certify, & label" a watch (with a defined standard) that says "Seiko Chronometer," they'll always be a "Toyota" compared to Swiss "Mercedes, Rolls, BMW" (they don't have courage). That translates into; you can't compare labels.
Limits dial design. GS focuses on unique and intricate dials. Also, the huge hands need higher torque motors and solar cannot provide the power required to move the large GS hands. Batteries are cheap
Do your research better. The accuracy is +/-30 seconds per year. The GS quartz watches with a star are +/-10 seconds per year. I have the champagne dial version.
Absolutely brilliant case and design. This would be a fantastic daily wear and the skipping hour hand would be great for people who travel across time zones
I love this type of short reviews, man.

The bass groove combined with the bass in your voice is epic.
This case design is absolutely mesmerising! I love it! Nice vid! 👍
Stunning and the quality Grand Seiko produces is superb
Just bought one 2 days ago from Abu Dhabi.
Pleasing to look at

We need to make a petition for this,so they know what's we want from GS Seiko.
44GS best case ever
It's so pretty I can't stop watching this video.
Im going to buy this for myself when i propose to my girlfriend. Itll be worn at my wedding.

Inside & out, these are awesome watches. I _love_ this case.
44GS case is best case shape
Time & Tide make damn good videos. Thanks for another one.
We got damn good commenters too 🔥
Would love to get a 9F quartz, I find them equally as interesting as automatics
Just hope they make a springdrive watch with this clean dial

The 44GS case is just so beautiful
Just put a deposit down on one of these. My second GS. I’m hooked. Just take all my money.
Grand seiko, love it, typical Japanese mind. Nothing snooty.

Quartz can and is definitely luxury. if Patek makes a quartz why can't any other luxury watch brand make one...
the beauty of Gs shines on fabric or leather straps, bracelets are their weakness
whats the difference between sbgp005 and 0013?
Case design is completely different between the two models mate.
love this watch, I have earlier black dial quartz and it is a looker.
And my Grand Seiko Limited Edition SBGP007 has a super high stone cold killer accuracy of +/- 5 seconds a year ;-)
🔪 🔪 💀
Why can't I find this watch in the internet????
Keep getting suggestions of sbgk005 instead
how long does the battery last?
2 years approximately. Will start skipping every other second when battery is low
@@MillerVanDotTV -Thanks!
I wish they can make their mechanical watch that thin.
How's it on a 7.5 inch wrist?
Can the date be changed without compromising the time ?
Yes, you can move the hour hand independently, so you can skip it forward to the next month in about 10 seconds when it is February or a 30 day month.
I liked it was a short review/preview, but I certainly wouldn't pay 4k for a quartz. I would however pay that for Grand Seiko spring drive.
The Spring Drive is 6k. They are both great value IMHO.
Watch needs a new battery? Not working?
Crown is pulled out to retain battery
Well made video and beautiful timepiece. What is the wrist size of the person wearing the watch in this review? Thank you.

its a demo watch.
... doesn't appear* to* be* pulled out ...
I might just have to pull the trigger on this one in the very near future

Do you know the lug to lug with and without endlinks?
Lug to lug without end links is 46mm
What’s the lug2lug size one this one?
46mm
what’s the difference between this and the SBGV239?
This is the latest 9F movement where you can individually set the hour hand to jump hour

This 9F Quartz movement is still not working...

Ok, thanks for clarifying! Strange practice, nevertheless..
Why you have to say most SIMPLE movement NOW i dont want it :|
This day may never come, but WHEN Seiko has the confidence to "define, test, certify, & label" a watch (with a defined standard) that says "Seiko Chronometer," they'll always be a "Toyota" compared to Swiss "Mercedes, Rolls, BMW" (they don't have courage). That watch is broken.

I'm not paying $5000 for a quartz watch they forgot to lume
It's a crime to make a high end quartz watch and not put solar power in it.
Not really. A solar movement has a limited lifespan as the battery normally can't be replaced. A battery powered quartz movement will run for decades.
Lol it’s not a cheap citizen that needs gimmicks. Nothing high end about solar panels with a very limited lifespan 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Limits dial design. GS focuses on unique and intricate dials. Also, the huge hands need higher torque motors and solar cannot provide the power required to move the large GS hands. Batteries are cheap
SBGP009 are better
Do your research better. The accuracy is +/-30 seconds per year. The GS quartz watches with a star are +/-10 seconds per year. I have the champagne dial version.
I think you need to your research bud. Go check the GS website for this model.
Why have a watch video and not show a moving second hand? Seriously? Weird video and also awful music. Please do better
