My name is Niki. I am a former high school chemistry & biology public school teacher turned homeschool mom of 4 kiddos. We are a secular homeschooling family, with a laid back schooling style. I'm a busy WAHM who just tries to stay afloat some days. But we would never change a thing!
I would love to get to know you better down in the comments, and I hope you'll stay awhile and chat ❤️

We’ve been doing a slower homeschool schedule from mid February!!! I thought we had a fall break but my older kids did a bit of independent work during our break!!! Only as it instrests them!!! I wish spelling only took 10ish mins!!! My kids are dyslexic so they often sit trying to work out their spelling!!! It’s awesome that ur daughter is keeping up with ur son!!!

I feel like coming back off of winter break is so much hard then coming off of summer. LOL
I have mild dyslexia, so I can relate. Spelling is HARD! LOL
I'm really impressed that she is keeping up so well. She defiantly doesn't remember as much as my son, but she is still retaining a good amount. But she loves doing school. LOL

Hi there, I’m a mom of 5. My two oldest are in their late teens. My 19 year old son decided to drop out and work for my husband. My 17 year old daughter is getting homeschool with her aunt.
I have my 3 smaller girls (2nd grader, 1st grader and soon pre-k) that I want to home school the next school year. But I don’t know where to start.. at alll I’m clueless 😅. Do you have a video on this subject? Where do you get your books/curriculum? We’re a low income family but I no longer want my girls in the school system . Where and how can I start??

Hello! Welcome to the world of Homeschool! I do have a playlist with some tips for beginners. And I am planning on doing a video soon on how to get started.
There is lots of free resources online for curriculum that would be a good place to start for you. Khan Academy would be good for just getting used to doing school at home. Then as you research more, you can decided what you actually need curriculum for. Also searching on Facebook for used Curriculum that is for sale is another great way to find curriculum. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to message me here or on Instagram.

Can I ask what your youngest kids are doing while you work with your older kids?! I only have two kids, 8 and 3, but we would never be capable of pulling off a school day like that, let alone an entire week. I like your videos usually, but this one hit hard. We do the same amount of school work but after interruptions and breakdowns, it takes hours upon hours to do the equivalent of a couple hours of school work. You are living the dream!

Hang in there momma! Remember I've had almost 9 years of practice at this. And it is so much harder when you have really little kids. My days did not always look like this!
Giving your 3 yr old something special to do near you while you work with you oldest might be helpful. I used to let my toddlers have sensory bins or playdough or something similar that was only for "school time" and set them up on the floor near by while I worked with my older kids.
And I'm not opposed to some screen time for my younger kiddos while I'm working with the older ones. LOL
Now this one is defiantly do as I say and not as I do (LOL), but having a set time for school work can really help. So always doing school right after breakfast or lunch. Or always doing school with your 8 yr old while the 3 yr old naps. Whey they know what to expect, it can be easier for a more smooth rhythm to develop.
Hope any of this is helpful! You guys have got this! You are doing a great job!
