The only thing about crossbar locks is if you hit the bottom of them “butte of the knife” on a hard surface it could disengage the lock which is why I like that the warhog has a somewhat safety finger choil. My two cents.

Sorry to hear that brother. I know the feeling. Even getting new dogs, the memory of a good friend that is gone doesn't go away. We had a small Yorkie that was my best bud, he passed away very young like 8 from unknown causes. Miss him everyday. Remembering the good times they brought is what matters

Carrying my Miguron Moyarl original liner lock black 14C28N blade and black G10 scales, I also have my PETRIFIED FISH Full Sized Beluga with a black K110 blade and blue Micarta handle scales. A couple of my favorite budget knives.

Dude D2 can and will do what you need it to do!!!! I have a mini Praxis that cost me 29 duckets for the past three + years now and all I have to do to this thing was strop it here and there. It is all around the house workhorse from yard work to ripping open packages. D2 like many other steels get a bad name from bad execution!

I have a Pickled Steel Atgeir XL (the G10 version) in my pocket today. Also have the small one and the titanium and 30 odd other Pickled Steels including the War Hog. The War Hog is built like a tank.
