Mumbo, a little thing i think you could add RE the toxic Hay/Kelp thing is Mangrove roots. They look very like dried out/dead hay, and the fact they are pretty transparent means the colours from the blocks around them will all work together.
About the cyan tips of the trees: it total makes sense because it resembles the green tips of the branches and the tree itself. The plants mostly don't grow like a solid wooden stick with brown bark around, the fresh grown tips of the branches are mostly greenish and soft until they age.
I'm a silviculturist. That part of the tree is known as the leader. If that's dead it means your tree is dead, or at least in the slow process of dying due to being light starved by competing flora that has overtaken it (hence the name "leader"). It actually works that those are well established old growth trees with no competition that are dead standing due to the toxic waste permeating the ground and compromizing the function of the trees' root system. You will see this same effect when beaver dam up an area forcing the ground to become saturated with water and swampy. The roots can't get oxygen so the whole forest dies and the first sign is the leader turning brown (cuz it's the farthest from the roots, and the first part to stop getting nutrients/oxygen). The trees will die from the top down over time then rot from the bottom up after their death and collapse. Very scary and dangerous to walk through after a dam has been blown with thousands of pounds of spiky death way up over your head where you can't see rotted off waiting to come down on you. Often there are leaners, hung trees, deadfalls and widowmakers galore. Even a big branch can be heavy enough to snap your neck if it falls from 30 or 50 feet in the air. There is really no safe way to bring them down either cuz the top could snap off at any point coming down and there is no way to cut it and get clear. Even when you are cutting it the rotten hinge wood could shear off and the whole tree slip off any which way and crush you or come down in multiple pieces or hit other trees causing a domino effect. Most ppl never think of it but you never wanna camp near dead standing trees. It's like being under a potential landslide or avalanche area. Most ppl don't even think of the physics involved. It hasn't happened yet and probably won't any time soon but it's basically a giant mousetrap ready to go off at any moment.

@@porgy29 glow lichen is a really good block for unobtrusive lighting. Its bright enough to stop mobs from spawning in a 6-7 block radius but dim enough to not create bright spots at night. I actually REALLY LIKE the contrast between the flat roofs, and the one slanted roof... Because that's the house Mumbo lives in. It stands out, but in such a subtle way, its perfect. :3
One of the biggest reasons why I love Mumbo's base is that every building and every character has a unique story. Every character has their own personality and outfit that matches their profession. the waffle will be back don't worry! this skin is just for whatevers happening on hermitcraft (he switches back to the waffle for outside recordings, as can be seen on namemc)
Mumbo, I think if you go for a white colour pallet for the terraforming of the mountain. Something like the white cliffs of dover, and make the grass darker by using blocks like green concreate, lime and green terracota and moss. I think that will go really well, as there isn't a lot of white there, or darker greens in your build. It will make the building and the mountain stand out.
All the beautiful buillds made me think Mumbo is transitioning into his "builder phase." But watching him spam search a field of shulkers for a block made me realize he's already totally there. He's gone full Scar.
15:25 For the background of your base you could make it a snowy ski resort cabin thing. The white would definitely contrast and you could make a ski lift going through the town
MUMBO- town of mumbo- every villager should be a mumbo in a different outfit. maybe the scientist experiments with cloning, maybe it's just you going insane, idk- but a town full of mumbos
I feel like your base would be the perfect town for a cartoon. Like a little borough where a bunch of teens would live crazy adventure and fight against some kind off mad scientist (destroying the environment). This is oddly specific... but it just works so well, it only needs a few more houses to make a small neighborhood!
For terraforming the mountain: you could consider using darker blocks like deep slate or mud blocks so that the mountain behind the build visually falls into the shadows
You know, the really lovely part of having Mumbo build things is that he brings everyone through all the common steps. Like when you're not quite sure what you're doing wrong and constantly place something and check it from far of. Or when you just go and mess up some stuff just to see if it works better. Other, more buildery, Hermits, such as Grian, have enough experience and confidence to just kinda skip that step. And when they do they're just so used to it that they just refer to it with but a single sentence. But Mumbo walks through the entire mental journey every builder goes through at some point in perfect detail. And honestly, it's really great, because then people realize that they're not the only ones who do this, and that they're actually better at building then they give themselves credit for. Essentially, builders like Grian are the wise and experienced masters whose forgotten more then most will ever know. Meanwhile Mumbo is the older student whose only a smidgen higher then you, but helps tutor you by showing you how he goes through his own struggles.
In the "endbusting v. iskall podcast" this season they did kind of touch on showing the process of coming up with the build instead of just "here design, now timelapse into Hermitcraft"
Hey Mumbo! I love the build a lot, the Napoleon Dynamite inspiration is on point! I thought it would help the lawn flamingo is the wings were held by armor stands instead of item frames (?)
Given the amount of lovelies in the book and the fact that there is a certain hermit who has been in a postage advertising war with Pearl about her Purpur shop, I would hazard a guess that the gold came from Joel.
This mystery arc is absolutely amazing! The way you suggest something is happening to the Minecraft Mumbo for several episodes now, but don't tell us what keeps me SO EXCITED for the upcoming episodes! I don't think many people could pull it off like this and I'm so grateful that you do it! Since phase one is over now, I can tell you that you've excelled in everything you've done so far - building, redstone, interactions and you also began to mess around with armor stands, that's just an icing on the big cake you deliver to us, thank you so much!
Mumbo, you ABSOLUTELY NEED a tree that has been corrupted by the toxic waste! Imagine a custom tree that's smoking from toxic exposure and bending over; it would create a nice entrance to your forest area from the wheat field and tie those two areas together a bit!
Mumbo, when I look at your base I get a balamory sorta vibe, and that's great especially as a brit, but for terraforming you could maybe do the mountain a lil like the white cliffs of Dover, then transition it round so that the area blends in
11:52 I've actually made a scale based of this Pants: wearing just them in public is weird and can very rarely be justified. Swimming togs/shorts: only acceptable if near and or in a body of water, anywhere else is weird. Shorts: can be acceptable anywhere, but only in hot enough weather. Trousers: acceptable in basically all situations, except the ones specified above. You can call something pants if it's terrible, swimming togs if it's bad but not the worst, shorts if it's ok & trousers if it's good. I know people aren't going to start using this in their normal lives but I just think this is kinda neat :)
If you're taking texturing and building lessons from Grian, armor stand lessons from Cleo, detailing and organics lessons from Scar, maybe it's time for terraforming and landscaping lessons from Pearl or BDubs?
It already does seem to be the season of knowledge, or skill, expansion. redstoners start experimenting with building, builders learn redstone, everyone asks for opinions and advice and people offer lessons. It's... So cool. I love it so much.
@nikk-named But will we see another season grande finale like in S8 every again? I know that not everyone was into the role-playing, but something as generic as "moon; big" is easy to improvise around, and it made the ending feel like an end and not a fizzle. BUT... I know a few Hermits said they don't much enjoy the acting, but still... not all skills worth developing are MC-related. Mumbo getting into graphic design is definitely a good example.
Mumbo: You keep flying over to that hill to view all of your town, you should use a freecam mod instead, it will cost you less fireworks, and you can get better camera angles on some of the builds.
Grian just adds a type of random no one expects and it's endearing. Mumbo, your building skills are impressive. This whole season is a new type of vibe and I look forward to see everything going forward!
Small suggestion, approaching the totally not toxic waste waterfall, add in some dead trees (maybe 2-3?). Maybe even one that has rotted completely and fallen over/broke in half.
“even when I have a solid plan, like I know pretty much exactly what I’m going to do, I still find ways to be scared of starting” …I’ve never related to anything more
2:30 oh no, I can't unsee the silluette of a running man in the shape of the nuclear waste zone 😂 That area looks so good, too, with the detailing and the armour stands and everything.
Dearest Mumbo of the Jumbo, I think maybe a cell site/tower would be good, in a kind of 80,s style because I imagine Big Ron would want to broadcast his commercials to his customers as well as taking the matter into his own hands and adding a satellite dish on that to try improve it from his initial thought process but afterwards realised it only sits there. Also the tower could be kind of rickety? Like as if it’s tilting to one side and he then tried to stabilise it with duct tape. it also could send signals into the industrial district!
It would be interesting, like when we had a mountain expert (don’t recall exact proffesion) examine the mountains in season 8, invite some forest expert for this season, because there are lots of various forest types in this season.
For the pink flamingo, theres one thing you can do ^^ just apply what you learned from Cleo and make it yourself Or at least make the signs invisible so it actually looks like wings
6:44 Scar has probably used those warped fence posts (as green colored fence dont exist) at the top of trees to indicate foilage covering the tip of the tree as putting leaves block might mess up the tree's shape
For the mountains I suggest using the textures you have for the rocks down below. This way they blend in with the environment below; however stand out since you don’t have as many dark textures in the rest of the area
I swear Mumbo is actually a builder at heart. Like if a left-handed person forced themselves to be right-handed, but later realized how much easier everything is with their left hand.
I agree, a lot of people who enjoy art & being creative, also enjoy building in minecraft. Just so happens mumbo is great at photography and videomaking, his concept art also looks good! I'm honestly surprised it took him this long to get more acquainted and confident in building
it's moreso, imo, that he's just a maker. redstone has been his creative medium for a long time in-game. irl there's obviously been filmmaking and graphic design. now building is just a new one that's scratching the maker itch in a good way.
Hey Mumbo For your Item Frame Shop, you can actually trade for Item Frames with an Expert level Cartography villager (those have a 12% chance of giving you that trade for 7 emeralds in Java Edition) Love your vids!
7:08 honestly one of the best in video adds I've ever seen. Super quick and too the point, stays on brand, comedic and memorable, tells a story. 10/10 Loved it man
Guys, hear me out! Mumbo for Mayor for this little town!!! This should be his role in the cinematic universe! This would make Grumbot happy! The whole town reminds me a bit of Stardew vallay. And Mumbo Could be a mayor of such a small town. Now even a town hall needed, he's just the casual Mayor.
Minor idea for the toxic waste; realized that the Emerald blocks match the color, and look like they have ripples, so maybe that could work as like a spot where bubbles are appearing or where the waste is pouring in from. Idk, what do y'all think?
This town is slowly starting to remind me of that old flash game, called Grow Island, where it slowly got more crazier and packed with very various things. And I absolutely love how it's coming together!
6:51 I think the reason why it works is because seeing the top tip of a tree is a tricky thing to see so it blends in whatever few bits of green leaves with the blue sky with a bit of haze to create a kind of cyan color
I don't know how I forgot about armour stands for the flamingo.
Stage 1 of phase 2 is to improve my flamingo.

how bout a little lawn gnome? or is that too hard?
Once you get good at the Flamingos, you should put a bunch in Keralis' base as a prank, even if it's just the old design. It'd be funny.

Yeah, I'm actually kinda sad that we never got to see the Season 9 base finished
The interaction with grian was so perfectly reflective of these twos relationship 🤣 how suspicious mumbo said with the “…..fanks…” killed me omg
For the record, I think Mumbo looked really nice with the waffle (it was also a nice bit of continuity from season 8, shame its gone now).
the waffle will be back don't worry! this skin is just for whatevers happening on hermitcraft (he switches back to the waffle for outside recordings, as can be seen on namemc)
that's how you know it's a fake mumbo.... (Speculation)
Light stony cliffs would be so cool! Terrain like that also makes moss and leaves stand out so much more!
He has to see this!
"does it look good" "sure" "kill me!" every time mumbo and grian meet its comedy gold
I do miss these casual Grian & Mumbo interactions. Feel like we haven't had one in a while but this interaction was definitely worth the wait 😊
I think it’s because Grian got Covid
yeah i've been waiting
All the beautiful buillds made me think Mumbo is transitioning into his "builder phase."
But watching him spam search a field of shulkers for a block made me realize he's already totally there. He's gone full Scar.
Until he finishes the facade of his base, at least.
15:25 For the background of your base you could make it a snowy ski resort cabin thing. The white would definitely contrast and you could make a ski lift going through the town
Every day the moustache graces my screen, life gets a little bit better
MUMBO- town of mumbo- every villager should be a mumbo in a different outfit. maybe the scientist experiments with cloning, maybe it's just you going insane, idk- but a town full of mumbos
mayor mumbo could be the original, building a town of his own so he could finally be a mayor
I love this idea
Perfect
Yes!
+1 to this idea.... Mumbo for Mayor.
16:30 with your vampire phase and Halloween coming up, you should add a mausoleum or haunted house to your town somewhere!
11:12 "What is with me at the minute? I'm so panicky!" That's the oncoming threat of Grian glooming over.
I feel like your base would be the perfect town for a cartoon. Like a little borough where a bunch of teens would live crazy adventure and fight against some kind off mad scientist (destroying the environment). This is oddly specific... but it just works so well, it only needs a few more houses to make a small neighborhood!
like gravity falls
@@csabatoke6076 yeah definitely like gravity falls, except for the evil scientist part
and mumbo is the mayor
@@csabatoke6076 That's pretty much what I was thinking about (even tho I never watched it)
19:07 AWWWWW THAT'S SO SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
Or sometimes more like going through his own struggles together to help figure out how to do it.
Just randomly placing blocks to see what happens is also a certified buildin' mood.
Tl;dr
In the "endbusting v. iskall podcast" this season they did kind of touch on showing the process of coming up with the build instead of just "here design, now timelapse into Hermitcraft"
Hey Mumbo! I love the build a lot, the Napoleon Dynamite inspiration is on point! I thought it would help the lawn flamingo is the wings were held by armor stands instead of item frames (?)
Given the amount of lovelies in the book and the fact that there is a certain hermit who has been in a postage advertising war with Pearl about her Purpur shop, I would hazard a guess that the gold came from Joel.
the gold did indeed come from Joel
it was a mission possible challenge
I love the chaos the mission possibles add to the server. It's kind of like the chaos we got in secret life. It's perfect
He's going to be some kind of mad scientist!
I was not expecting a Napoleon Dynamite reference! That was really good!
The way Mumbo jumbo has improved in building is truly remarkable. I could even say that I'm chuffed to bits with it.
It's a very chuffly progression.
@@keab42He's become very chobblesome.
Mumbo, you ABSOLUTELY NEED a tree that has been corrupted by the toxic waste! Imagine a custom tree that's smoking from toxic exposure and bending over; it would create a nice entrance to your forest area from the wheat field and tie those two areas together a bit!
Mumbo, when I look at your base I get a balamory sorta vibe, and that's great especially as a brit, but for terraforming you could maybe do the mountain a lil like the white cliffs of Dover, then transition it round so that the area blends in
11:52 I've actually made a scale based of this
Pants: wearing just them in public is weird and can very rarely be justified.
I know people aren't going to start using this in their normal lives but I just think this is kinda neat :)
you put in far too much thought, this makes sense XD
Ok but this makes me _want_ to use these words
This is pretty trousers isn't it?
This is so British. I'm quite chuffed honestly, quite trousers
I will not tolerate shorts slander smh
You could add lichen to the toxic hay bales as a way to transition the blocks more. Just a few in certain spots to help blend between blocks maybe.
I was thinking maybe regular vines might work as well too!
Petition to make the 'A' of the big 'SAFE' sign flicker with oxidised copper bulbs
If you're taking texturing and building lessons from Grian, armor stand lessons from Cleo, detailing and organics lessons from Scar, maybe it's time for terraforming and landscaping lessons from Pearl or BDubs?
And possibly start offering red stone lessons? Giving to others that he took help from?
Yes yes yes both of these comments!!!!!! Let this be the season of knowledge sharing 💕
Maybe even one that has rotted completely and fallen over/broke in half.
i like the idea of the brick house being owned by someone refusing to sell it to a company wanting the space for a commercial spot
Mumbo has come a long way from the days of smooth stone. This is his greatest masterpiece yet in his evolution as a builder.
An idea to light up ur area is adding lights under carpet, very simple, adds depth and is very subtle!

2:30 oh no, I can't unsee the silluette of a running man in the shape of the nuclear waste zone 😂
That area looks so good, too, with the detailing and the armour stands and everything.
"But I need your face 🥺"
Only Grian can say something so horrifying in such an innocent manner
I think Scar put the cyan fences on the top of the trees to kinda match the color of the trees without compromising the thinness at the top.
I was thinking he put the cyan fences to match the color of the sky so the trees blended better
they are supposed to be leaves at the top of the tree instead of the wood
if only they had the potato fences from the april fools update
@@averageceilingenjoyer oo yea
The evolution of your building skills this season has been so awesome to watch! Congratulations Mumbo!
Might be better to find out if Hermitcraft has one, before going off server to find one.
11 years ... ty bro 👍... Redstone is a mystery ... and you made it completely fun in many different things
1:59 I can’t stop laughing at the slow motion to the creeper hole 😆
8:37 Got to love the "Device added to your account" in the top right hand corner in the creative building part
Minecraft on a Mac for the win!
You really Excell at having builds being alive. It's always a lot of fun seeing your creative process.
For the pink flamingo, theres one thing you can do ^^ just apply what you learned from Cleo and make it yourself
Or at least make the signs invisible so it actually looks like wings
instead of the kelp blocks to melon to wheat, maybe add some vines or lichen in there too
6:44 Scar has probably used those warped fence posts (as green colored fence dont exist) at the top of trees to indicate foilage covering the tip of the tree as putting leaves block might mess up the tree's shape
For the mountains I suggest using the textures you have for the rocks down below. This way they blend in with the environment below; however stand out since you don’t have as many dark textures in the rest of the area
Also like cliff sides with like a few trees growing off weirdly.
19:01 "You're fish, i'm an old bloke" - Mumbo Jumbo, 2024
I read that just as I got to that part XD
what r the chances
16:35 it's so lore, I personally think laboratory lore but who knows, loving it so much though!
19:11 is such a cute moment, omg
it is!
For the toxic waste hay bails you could maybe add skulk veins to the sides of the blocks in the middle to ease the transition.
You did it! You have crossed the Rubicon. You are now a builder/redstoner, the most complete type of Hermit known to these viewers. Well done! ❤
16:19 finally someone mentioned it omg
I swear Mumbo is actually a builder at heart. Like if a left-handed person forced themselves to be right-handed, but later realized how much easier everything is with their left hand.
I agree, a lot of people who enjoy art & being creative, also enjoy building in minecraft. Just so happens mumbo is great at photography and videomaking, his concept art also looks good! I'm honestly surprised it took him this long to get more acquainted and confident in building
thats so funny considering Mumbo actually is left-handed
it's moreso, imo, that he's just a maker. redstone has been his creative medium for a long time in-game. irl there's obviously been filmmaking and graphic design. now building is just a new one that's scratching the maker itch in a good way.
Hey Mumbo
For your Item Frame Shop, you can actually trade for Item Frames with an Expert level Cartography villager (those have a 12% chance of giving you that trade for 7 emeralds in Java Edition)
Love your vids!
7:08 honestly one of the best in video adds I've ever seen. Super quick and too the point, stays on brand, comedic and memorable, tells a story. 10/10 Loved it man
10:10 Joel made it in one of his Videos. I think it was a Mission Possible Task.
Make the item frames on the garden flamingo invisible. I think it'll look perfect then. ❤ Brilliant video as usual
1:06 The pig in back just break dancing
13:13 You could also texture the roof with red netherbrick stairs closer to the cliff walls to give it more of a shadow effect :)
This town is slowly starting to remind me of that old flash game, called Grow Island, where it slowly got more crazier and packed with very various things.
And I absolutely love how it's coming together!
Mumbo your base looks absolutely beautiful, you can build really good and I love the Armor stand action.
Thank you Grian for being someone else who FINALLY pointed out Mumbo's skin is messed up!!! Been driving me nuts for weeks!
6:51 I think the reason why it works is because seeing the top tip of a tree is a tricky thing to see so it blends in whatever few bits of green leaves with the blue sky with a bit of haze to create a kind of cyan color
I find it crazy that in season ten Grian has his storage system sorted while Mumbo has a chest monster.
11:52 I'm glad Mumbo is aware that we Americans hear him say pants and we think of trousers.
