Love how Dick Clark really supported and rooted for Rick's success through the years!
"He was my first at everything, he show me how to love and respect myself!!" ❤❤👄👄🤗🤗😇😇
Watching this is like traveling back in time...
I was lucky enough to dance on bandstand and experience this moment in time!
Sittingin the audience screaming my head off at the amazing artists who whereon the show!
Wow, in which year/month was that?
@@omiluna7362 1980 something! 😸💃🕺
I remember loving this song as a kid. Wow the camera really loved him haha he looked really good here.
I watched this in 1981.Still great and worth watching again. There needs to be a revival of this show format to preserve for future generations
It wouldn’t get ratings on television now. People watch music on UA-cam mostly and it’s not as financially viable now to promote music on television in this kind of way. It doesn’t help that Milli Vanilli essentially made lip-syncing essentially an “inauthentic” way to promote music on television.
I love his songs!!!! Jessie's Girl is my favorite!!! He does bring back great memories... He is so fine and cute!!!! 🔥🔥🔥.... He is still touring, with Richard Marx, they sound so good still!!!! ❤️❤️❤️... 🌹🌹🌹.....
I remember this like it was yesterday. Such a beautiful, simpler time. I was 12 yrs old when this aired.
Ditto on both for me
I watched this live when I was 8 years old. Just mind blowing nostalgia.
Yes! I had Rick's fine ass on my wall in 1982 alongside Prince and Rick James!!! Thank you Bop Magazine!!! 🖤❤🖤
From General hospital to now still love me some Rick Springfield.
WOW I didn't know he was on GH
He was plastered all over my bedroom walls. I loved him
I saw this back in May 1981. I think his follow up song that wasn't shown here was Love is Alright Tonight. Love that song also!
No , ive done everything for you was the follow-up or B-side to the 45 , anyway
He was quite the looker!
haileyh500 Still is! Can't wait to see him in 2 weeks! ❤️️
Aww..the memories!!
Saw him at the Vegas a few years back at MGM GRAND ,VEGAS,so good 👍..
this song never gets old, at least as far as I'm concerned I love him for life
May 23rd 81' the day after I graduated HS
I was 19. You're making me feel old!
See my generation. This was when music was good.
Amen
Amen...better than today's music
in 1981 I was one year old
It was a baby
excellent song
I saw him 5 months after this show in Detroit.
man I loved this song and him...he was gorgeous!!
Rick Springfield's hair looked awesome when he feathered it like this years ago! He is three years away from turning seventy years old now, but he still has lots of charisma and is incredibly talented!

i love rick
Really Cool.....
Cutie ❤
One hot dude I was in love with this man!!
I remember that day !
Oh I loved this song I was in 10th grade
I just started Jr High when this song came out. All the girls had a pic of Rick in their lockers.
Three months from this performance I was born lol
jack white on drums again!
He faked the guitar Solo really well, since he didn’t play it on the record. That was Pat Benatar‘s husband that played the solo in the studio.
and does that work out for him, since everyone knows Rick springfield and you refer to the other guy as "pat benatar's husband..
Her husband is the great Neil “Spyder” Giraldo! He played on ALL of her hits and wrote a good portion of them!
He looks so hot
He is still a handsome devil
Another great Australian export.
He is rock singer and soap star gh on abc

ha ha too funny and those eyes... I wish I had a cord to plug my guitar into//Jessie?
❤🔥
He's a killer. The camera loves him.
rsandus Thank you for posting this great video of Rick Springfield. Do you have any more footage of this American Bandstand episode from 1981?
No, I think that's it - it is not from when it originally aired but from much later on a VH1 special
No problem. Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it.
My sister accidentally hit him in the rear end at the airport. She said he was so gracious about it. She had her toddler with her so I'm pretty sure he knew it was accidental. My kids are 22 months apart and I've done a lot of dumb stuff over the years just trying to wrangle them lol.
Have you ever noticed Dick Clark always situated himself between young girls? Check any AB vid, he fucking always did.
Not a dry set of underwear left in that audience , including the guys. Springfield was one handsome man.
JEFF HARDIN but back then I didn't think sexual. To me he was the most beautiful male face and so kind. YES, I was that dumb. Most teenier think husband material...all MY friends will envy us with our twins in a buggy (I know all the pain in labor I had no clue to..it was just a perfect life), I don't know if times have changed, but it was never sexual at the age of 12.
Today, I wouldn't change a thing; he is still my perfect, dream I don't want it spoiled by reality. Sorry Jeff no all of us think from the crotch.
Greta Ginn ...I see no 12 year Olds in that audience but thanks for your comment.

I heard a piano or something like this. Where is it?
Back when no one paid attention to see if they were really playing these instruments or lip synching. They were indeed lip synching and pretending to play. People even cheered when he did that guitar solo part. People just had very little awareness back then. I guess a kind of innocence.
Where is the keyboard player ???
Jessie's Girl turned out to be Stacy's Mom
And her phone number was 867-5309
I like to see Rick and fountain of Wayne do a mashup.
Hi Rick I love you you you are my boyfriend
Rick Springfield try to be the Elvis of the 80s in looks and talent but never made it to that level
Not sure that Rick thought he was being Elvis. Remember Rick wrote his own music. Plus played the guitar as part of a band. Elvis didn't really do that.
@@allymayful exactly so true
